Compulsion Games has confirmed that South of Midnight will be ported to PS5 in Spring 2026, having released for Xbox Series X|S and PC earlier this year.
The developer confirmed the PS5 version (along with a Nintendo Switch 2 edition) in a social media post:
Compulsion Games' third game as a studio, it previously made PS4 launch title Contrast, as well as We Happy Few.
South of Midnight, meanwhile, is a third-person action-adventure game that explores the folklore of the Deep South in the USA. Here's the setup: "As Hazel, you will explore the mythos and encounter creatures of Southern folklore in a macabre and fantastical world. When disaster strikes her hometown, Hazel is called to become a Weaver: a magical mender of broken bonds and spirits."

Upon its original release in April 2025, the game earned a Metacritic score of 77. Our sister site Pure Xbox liked the overall experience a lot more than that score, though, awarding it a 9/10.
"It's not perfect, and its combat mechanics are a bit lacking, but the game has so much soul, personality and charm that it's hard not to fall in love with it," the outlet concluded.

Been telling Xbox folks, only a matter of time
Yeah? Nahhhhhh
Physical, full game on disc without any online download/check in required or not a chance. I have too much backlog to bother with anything not putting the end user first.
This has PS extra written all over it.
I enjoyed the game combat could have been better but the music was absolutely incredible
I played this on my steam deck. Great story and presentation, brought down by mediocre gameplay.
In other words, a typical Compulsion game.
Played this on the Lenovo Legion Go. Unique story and setting, combat is a bit lacking but enjoyable. The soundtrack, however, is an absolute banger. I really enjoyed it.
