Compulsion Games has confirmed that South of Midnight will be ported to PS5 in Spring 2026, having released for Xbox Series X|S and PC earlier this year.
The developer confirmed the PS5 version (along with a Nintendo Switch 2 edition) in a social media post:
Compulsion Games' third game as a studio, it previously made PS4 launch title Contrast, as well as We Happy Few.
South of Midnight, meanwhile, is a third-person action-adventure game that explores the folklore of the Deep South in the USA. Here's the setup: "As Hazel, you will explore the mythos and encounter creatures of Southern folklore in a macabre and fantastical world. When disaster strikes her hometown, Hazel is called to become a Weaver: a magical mender of broken bonds and spirits."

Upon its original release in April 2025, the game earned a Metacritic score of 77. Our sister site Pure Xbox liked the overall experience a lot more than that score, though, awarding it a 9/10.
"It's not perfect, and its combat mechanics are a bit lacking, but the game has so much soul, personality and charm that it's hard not to fall in love with it," the outlet concluded.

Been telling Xbox folks, only a matter of time
Yeah? Nahhhhhh
Physical, full game on disc without any online download/check in required or not a chance. I have too much backlog to bother with anything not putting the end user first.
This has PS extra written all over it.
I enjoyed the game combat could have been better but the music was absolutely incredible
I played this on my steam deck. Great story and presentation, brought down by mediocre gameplay.
In other words, a typical Compulsion game.
Played this on the Lenovo Legion Go. Unique story and setting, combat is a bit lacking but enjoyable. The soundtrack, however, is an absolute banger. I really enjoyed it.
Ok N.i.c.e. that's a game that I wanted from x box.now ps5 get it.word up son
Looks like a simple but fun game
Decent little game
Damn I’ve been wanting to play this… but have been too busy with my new career to bother dealing with the hassle of booting up my PC to play.
Really good original game the music sequences are really special the combat isn't anything amazing but definitely worth playing 7.5 for me.
I'd also turn of the stop motion during gameplay for my eye it's horrible!
@NathanKang No doubt this was ever going to be anything but multiplatform there won't be to many staggered releases coming forward from Microsoft I wouldn't say on the playstation side at least.
@Paulbuck28 The music and story were great. I really enjoyed the game.
South of Midnight is a good game. Don't miss it!
Played it on GamePass, the combat is lacking some, tho fun enough. But the story and world and graphics are a great package. I gave it a 8/10 just for the lure and attention to detail in the world and soundtrack. Likely i am off a point so if a 7/10 sounds good to you, give it a try.
I played a lot of games this year and many that were technically better than it, but south of midnight is my favorite game of the year.
That region of the U.S. holds a lot of significance, for many across the country. Here in the Pacific Northwest, MANY of us see it as a very alien place. Environment is so dang different, but so similar in the mystique.
English and French history galore, where up here its English and Russian. The folklore up here from the Natives, and the Russians is beautiful. The Folklore they have down there seems just as rich and interesting. I haven't played it yet, but the music and art alone have been a big draw. The inspiration and setting are so different from many other games.
Cool. Now release Keeper for PS5!
Lets hope its a real physical release. And why is it a premium to play a singleplayer game 5 days early i will never understand. Its looks a bit like a Southern version of Alice in Wonderland i love it. I have contrast at home. 😁
@WhoderMan Keeper is a legit banger! I hope more people get to play it.
Outstanding game. My GOTY by a country mile. So many memorable moments and so much atmosphere. Absolutely worth a buy, this is not a "wait for PS+" game even though I was lucky to play via Gamepass.
Sad thing is that if it wasn't on Gamepass I'd not have played it and missed out. Don't make that mistake.
For me is a wait for a sales game; next year very packed already
Also, I hope it is an actual game on an actual disc. MS can eff off with their game key discs.
@Balaam_ (#3) my man!!!!
