Re: Review: Senran Kagura Shinovi Versus (PlayStation Vita)

Crimson_Ridley

@BLPs You can't really be annoyed at it. Lots of things are made for particular audiences. I don't get upset because a film for for homosexuals isn't intended for me. You have plenty of other material that's more up your street.

OT: Let's see how quickly the internet hate machine and the extreme feminists jump on this to attack it, just like they did with the 3DS game.

Re: Snow Joke! Standalone White PS4 Coming to UK Next Week

Crimson_Ridley

I already bought it when it first came out, as the Destiny bundle. It looks very nice in my black TV stand, with a white Wii U, a white Wii, and in just a couple of weeks will also include a white Xbox One. I've always preferred white consoles and handhelds, and have never been a fan of black consoles. TVs though must be black, I can't stand any other colour.

Re: Game of the Month: September 2014 - Destiny

Crimson_Ridley

Such a shame to see that the majority of the writers like an unfinished game more than a well-designed complete game. I stopped supporting Destiny, and sold it right after I realised it was just a snore-fest, that has had the vast majority of it's content held back to bleed more money out of people. Yes, it looks pretty, but the game is barren. It's lazy, and partakes in underhanded activities, and for that it's completely undeserving of GotM.

The game has also made me lose a lot of respect for Bungie, who I always thought were a developer that had the fans in mind, and didn't think of them as just another sale. Instead, they jumped in to bed with Activision, and gave a game that is just a product for the consumer above all. If EA put something like this out, the industry would call them out and attack them viciously, but because it's Bungie, people are blindly loyal to it.

There are moments of fun in the game, and it can be enjoyable to play, but we're just allowing these tactics in the industry, letting developers hold back content deliberately, and allowing them to make false promises they have no intention of keeping. Peter Molyneux got slammed for constantly lying about the Fable franchise, and it's affected the game in the public eye. But Destiny carries on sailing past on its ship of gold.

Re: Ubisoft Insists That Assassin's Creed Unity Hasn't Been Scaled Back on PS4

Crimson_Ridley

@Munkyknuts It's been delayed at least once already, which makes this even more of a kick in the teeth. They delay everything, but nothing seems to be improved when it comes out. I swear they only delay them so they get more opportunity to make inane promises they have no intention of keeping, just to build up a little more hype and hopefully increase day one sales. They don't seem to work on the game in the meantime, though.

Re: Ubisoft Insists That Assassin's Creed Unity Hasn't Been Scaled Back on PS4

Crimson_Ridley

Built from the ground up for next-gen consoles? Lies. If that's the case, why isn't it running at 1080p and 60fps?

Ubisoft aren't interested in making a game the best it can be, they are only interested in using the easiest route possible, to make the biggest profit. They've had ample opportunity to push this game to the limit, but instead they've taken a back seat and counted the pre-orders.

I don't despise Ubisoft, and I very much enjoy their games but the quality of them has drastically dropped over the last couple of years. AC IV was another cop-out, as the game was clearly downgraded on the PS3 and 360 so that the next-gen version looked better, when in actuality it looked like the last-gen games should have looked, and wasn't much of an improvement over AC III. Watch Dogs was the same.

There should be absolutely no reason that both consoles can't run games in 1080p and at 60fps, none at all. 2015 is the year that I'm sure most will prove that, but all developers are doing right now is damaging the systems by making them look incredibly inferior. PC is evolving all of the time, so it's unfair to make the comparison, but we certainly shouldn't be so far behind.

Re: Ubisoft Locks Assassin's Creed Unity's PS4 Resolution to Avoid Debates

Crimson_Ridley

This is unsurprising but no less frustrating. The Xbox One is a good console, and can output some serious power, especially when exclusives are created for it, but the PS4 is factually the more powerful console, and should not be held back to keep things fair. The fact of the matter is, you buy your console to use it to the best of its abilities and it's completely disrespectful to both the consumer and to Sony to not utilise the tools you have in front of you.

I chose the PS4 as my primary console because I wanted to play next-gen games the way they are meant to be played. Like I said the Xbox One is no slouch, but until developers learn how to design for it better, it's going to show a difference between the two consoles. The SEGA Megadrive and the SNES had a similar issue, as did the Xbox, PS2 and GameCube. A Ferarri is not designed to be comparable to a Nissan Micra, is it?

Re: Feature: What Are October 2014's Free PlayStation Plus Games?

Crimson_Ridley

I'll be picking up everything, though I'll probably not play Arkham Asylum again. I have the 1000G on the Xbox 360 and PC, and left it with one achievement away on the other 360 version. However, it's a Platinum that I could add to my card if I wanted to. Looking forward to trying out DriveClub and I've been wanting to get Spelunky for ages! The rest are a bonus.

Though others may complain about too many so-called "indie" titles in the line-ups, I'm happy about that as I don't like to pay too much for them, and free is a price I can get on board with. For me, I welcome more indie titles. That's why I haven't bought Valiant Hearts or Child of Light (I know they aren't indie titles in the traditional sense, being released by Ubisoft, but they are indie-esque) in the sales, as I believe they'll be in the line-up pretty soon.

Re: PSN is Down Yet Again For Some, Sony Says It's Working to Fix the Problem

Crimson_Ridley

@Midzark I pay for PSN and work a full-time job, and I know service down-time is frustrating, but I'm not ignorant to the fact that this is a part of online connectivity. The DDoS attack was not Sony's fault either, and no matter how secure a service may be, someone will send enough data to take it down. Yet, people blame them for it and then become armchair generals telling them what they should do.

They know the score, and regardless of what other's believe I'm sure you'll be able to get many hours in on Destiny, even if there are a few hiccups.

BTW, I'm an Xbox 360 owner as well, so I must disagree with your comment. Xbox LIVE has had MANY issues in the past. Countless times have we had to spend time offline.

Re: Gamescom 2014: Cringe Through Over 20 Minutes of PS4 Exclusive Until Dawn

Crimson_Ridley

I'm sorry, but are these seriously the animations they have right now? If you've gone as far as to really highlight the graphics of the game, work on the animations just as much. It's not Resident Evil 1 for Jill's sake!

However, I have confidence they'll rectify that before release. If you're going for something nice, don't skimp on the details. Though (and I know this is to be expected as it was a Move title initially, but a criticism is a criticism), I'm not a fan of constantly wafting the controller around like a dog ripping up a child's favourite teddy bear to make decisions that only need a button press. I would prefer them to tone that done, if at all possible.

Re: Feature: What Are August 2014's Free PlayStation Plus Games?

Crimson_Ridley

Well, PushSquare's comments section has gotten in to a very comparable state to IGN and GameSpot as of late. Too much hostility over trivial things.

The PS+ offerings are not the greatest on the PS4 just yet, but the console has been out less than a year. They aren't going to stick a AAA title on there for free just yet. They'll wait until they have a much bigger catalogue of them first. The PS3 didn't launch with PS+; it was launched when the PS3 had plenty of older AAA titles to pull from. The PS Vita didn't get all the good stuff straight away, and the few good titles that did pop up early on were because the system was performing in sales expectations. You have to realise that the PS4 isn't relying on PS+ as much as Sony's previous consoles so the offerings aren't going to be as good just yet. Listen to that last word; yet. The games will come, just be patient.

Think of the Xbox gamers that were getting games like Gears of War for free until recently. The game can be bought for less than £2. We're still getting bloody good value for a subscription that covers 3 consoles of free games. If you're coming to talk PS+, please leave your feelings of entitlement along with your coat at the door.

EDIT: As a user above mentioned about only having a PS4, you're still not getting the soiled end of the stick. The subscription is mandatory for playing online (which Microsoft has been doing for over 8 years now, and only starting giving decent stuff for free since Sony's success with it), which a lot of you will be doing. It's £40 (in fact, it's less if you take 2 minutes to look online) for a year, which is about 77p a week to play online on any game that allows online play. Many of you will play Call of Duty or Battlefield online every week, so you're getting your money's worth regardless of the PS+ free games. Your arguments towards lackluster offers is a hard one to defend in all honesty, though I'm certain you will try.

Re: The Last of Us Remastered Will Replenish PS4's Stamina with More Add-Ons

Crimson_Ridley

@get2sammyb I think my cynicism comes from the fact that this is literally all we really have to look forward to right now, with another re-release in GTA V later in the year. I have nothing against the games as they are fantastic, but I feel that we could have more right now. I do feel that this generation was supposed to start later this year, not last year.

Re: The Last of Us Remastered Will Replenish PS4's Stamina with More Add-Ons

Crimson_Ridley

I'm really excited to play it, but I do feel both Sony and yourselves are pushing this as something far more than it is; an enhanced port, albeit a very good one. When the GTA Trilogy came out on the Original Xbox, it was massively enhanced but didn't receive as much attention as this is.

I'm all for more games to play on the PS4 and I will happily play this again, but it really isn't as big as everyone is making it out to be.

Re: Soapbox: Was Dragon's Crown Just A Joke That Nobody Got?

Crimson_Ridley

@ObviouslyAdachi
This is my view on it. I really hate that games in recent years have come under such scrutiny by people, and constantly judged on if the women are portrayed with big breasts, or a male character is the only one you can play as the lead, etc.. A developer is a creator, and as such can create what they want.

Re: The PS4 Dev Team Were 'Dancing in The Aisles' After The Xbox One's Price Reveal

Crimson_Ridley

@hydeks Then don't look at it from the perspective that you are; looking at the prices between the two. Which console has games on it right now that you want to play? Which will have games in the near future that you want to play? Do you play a lot of multiplayer, and if so, what are your friends playing on? If you prefer the non-gaming features of a console (why anyone would, I don't know, but I digress), which console is more appealing in that regard?

Don't even pay attention the price because that little extra you may or may not spend is negligible at the end of the day, as if you're going to love the console for many years, you'll get your money's worth.

Re: Tecmo Koei Will Become Koei Tecmo from 1st July in Europe

Crimson_Ridley

I remember when Namco Bandai changed their name to Bandai Namco. That was a difficult day for all of us, with riots in the streets, children and animals just abandoned as people fled their homes in terror, and the whole internet plunged in to darkness as we all just endured the carnage, death and destruction around us.

I predict the same will happen here. grabs wooden boards and a hammer Let's hope my windows and doors hold this time. I lost too many loved ones before!

Re: The PS4 Dev Team Were 'Dancing in The Aisles' After The Xbox One's Price Reveal

Crimson_Ridley

The price was never a factor, as all consoles will drop in price over time, so that should never influence anyone's decision. The things that made my mind up to move from primarily playing Xbox to Playstation was the games, the power, the controller and the look.

I'm a big fan of Playstation's interfaces, especially as Microsoft's keep getting worse. I loved the 360 controller but found the Xbox One controller to be "strange" in my hand. Even with the extra 10% GPU the Xbox One has gained from removing the Kinect, it still pales in comparison to the power of the PS4, and back in 2013, the PS4 was leagues ahead. Finally, while I love Halo, Crackdown, Alan Wake, and I'm very excited to play Sunset Overdrive, Forza Horizon 2 and Quantum Break, I've learned from last generation that Playstation is the place to be for great JRPG's and incredible cinematic gaming experiences like Uncharted and The Last of Us.

Unless something goes horribly wrong and Namco starts releasing the Tales games exclusively on Xbox One, I'm happy where I am. I will be picking up an Xbox One for those exclusives mentioned, as I pick up every console, but I like to have a main console to play.

Re: Watch Dogs Adds a Diverse Roster of Personalities to Your Speed Dial

Crimson_Ridley

I can't shake the feeling that this game is going to smash it's face in to the ground. Splinter Cell Conviction went through a similar situation, and when it came out it was nowhere near the quality many were expecting. This game just looks bland, especially when it was originally in direct competition with GTA V. Sorry, Ubisoft, but that's hilarious.

Re: PS4's Next Call of Duty Game Will Be Disclosed on Sunday

Crimson_Ridley

I just watched the trailer on PST, and this is my impressions from there:

That looked pretty dull. The graphics looked nice, and the facial motion capture was very good, but the story and gameplay was very unimaginative. It's just going to be the same tired Call of Duty fare, with lots of guns and little substance, with "crazy" plot twists firing out of its bum.

Advanced Warfare? How long did it take them to come up with a word that meant further along than Modern? Let's not forget it needs to have Warfare in the title. Wow, good job brain-stormers, you've really earned your wage...

Having Kevin Spacey in it is pretty cool, but I can imagine a lot of the budget has just gone in to sticking him in the game at every possible moment, and a lot less has gone in to making the game stand out from its previous iterations or anything that's being done or has been done before. Mario went in to the space, for God's sake and all you guys can do is change a word in the title!?

I pray that this will be something different, just like I did when Ghosts was announced because I used to enjoy the CoD franchise and would hope that with a new generation, the game actually tries to inject some life in to the franchise that's become ever so stale. But, I can hardly hold my breath, can I? If I did, I'd most assuredly die.

Re: There's a Downside to PS4 Racer DriveClub's Outrageous Visuals

Crimson_Ridley

We really should be seeing 60fps as standard at this point. We're supposed to be in a new generation, and yet all that seems to mean is that we have increased sharing functions. It's getting ridiculous that many games can't even push the bar a little further than last generation,. Graphics are nice, but super smooth gameplay is nicer. At this stage in the gaming industry, we should have both.

That isn't to say I won't look in to the game (I'm interested, but racing games are not my forte), but it's just disappointing to hear that we're still a ways off of realising the true power of the PS4.

Re: Rumour: Titanfall 2 Takes One Robotic Stride Closer to PS4

Crimson_Ridley

I could not care less if this doesn't make it to PS4. It's fun for a bit, but quickly loses steam.

In fact, I find it hilarious that the Wikipedia page hasn't really been updated, especially the Reception section where it goes on about the ultimately pointless awards it got before launch, and then the tiny mention of generally favourable reviews. That is not critical acclaim, but everyone goes on about it as if it's the best thing since chocolate rich tea.

Re: Talking Point: Should Sony Respond to Microsoft's UK Xbox One Price Cut?

Crimson_Ridley

People are already going on about how the Titanfall bundle is now cheaper than PS4 bundles in many retailers. This is ridiculous, because it's only a quick ploy to push as many Xbox One consoles out in March, and then they'll fly back up to £400. The PS4 is still more powerful, still has a better line up of games, is getting major consumer and developer backing, continually proves that Sony won't repeat the same mistakes as last time, and seems to be the console to back this generation.

A price cut on the One will sting Sony, but even though the bee stings hard, it still dies. Xbox One is the bee.
