Heavy Rain was packed with some pretty cringe-inducing moments, but they weren’t exactly intentional. In the upcoming PlayStation 4 exclusive Until Dawn, developer Supermassive Games has set out to create an experience inspired by dodgy slasher teen movies – and on the evidence of this 20 minute showing, it’s absolutely nailed it.
The dialogue in this Gamescom 2014 demo has just enough dumb angst to raise a smile, without completely undermining the spooky atmosphere at the core of the experience – in fact, there’s a terribly cheap jump scare a few minutes in that almost had this editor in hospital. If the studio can just tidy up those animations, this could be a real goofy good time.

Hands up if you jumped.
So this is SUPPOSED to be cheesy and goofy? Well, this has just raised my interest quite a bit.
@get2sammyb You scare easily, you big baby!
@Punished_Boss
Phenomenal animation when she holds the diary!
I actually think I'm gonna like this. Perfect game to play with the missus. I like the intentional (?) campy feel and how it somehow still manages to grab my attention.
I'm sorry, but are these seriously the animations they have right now? If you've gone as far as to really highlight the graphics of the game, work on the animations just as much. It's not Resident Evil 1 for Jill's sake!
However, I have confidence they'll rectify that before release. If you're going for something nice, don't skimp on the details. Though (and I know this is to be expected as it was a Move title initially, but a criticism is a criticism), I'm not a fan of constantly wafting the controller around like a dog ripping up a child's favourite teddy bear to make decisions that only need a button press. I would prefer them to tone that done, if at all possible.
Yea its not much but. I still jumped too. I like it. Nice graphics and funny in a way while creepy
lol. This looks awesomely awful. Can' wait.
@Crimson_Ridley I agree, they have to sort out the animations. Like you say, it looks great — but the movements break the illusion. Have to imagine it's top of their priority list.
The only thing scary about this game is it's total reliance on quick time events. Last generation game with last generation control system.
When is it out?
I really wish this game would release in 2014, so I could play soon
This kind of looks like a comedy with jumpscares?
Does he seriously say "I'm gonna murder his face off"??????
