@IntrepidWombat Yotei is a sequel. There’s no question about it. We’re talking about games, not movies. Story is just a component in a game, gameplay wise is what matters most and in that, it is 100% as sequel. In may be a new story with years apart. The game is still a sequel.

Castlevania IV was pretty much a retelling of the original, it was still a sequel…..games don’t necessarily need to expand on the story to be considered sequels. They are GAMES, not movies, not novels. Mario Kart 8 is a sequel to 7, all mainline Mario game have barely any story relationship to the previous one, they are still sequels…..

Assassin’s Creed Shadows didn’t even make the top 20, despite being multiplatform and released in March. I had fun with it but eventually dropped out, Yotei is much better in almost everything.

Not interested. I do play on my iPhone, but is pretty much PS Remote or Xbox Remote Play with a backbone controller, never those crappy mobile games.

That’s crap, and they typically target new customer, while screwing up loyal ones. Case in point, Uber Eats. I have the Uber one subscription and all. Yet my wife which never uses it always gets a lot more coupons and promotions. Seems like the only way to get good deals with these things is to keep making new accounts, which obviously isn’t feasible with something like PlayStation.

I don’t see the purpose of this. Between my iPhone and my iPad Pro 13 I have this covered, with devices I already carry with me. If I’m buying a dedicated device, it needs to do local processing like the Switch 2.

@janineking Yeah, nope. I bought a PS5 Pro to use its full power, not to cripple it.

I think I bought this one for my Series X but never finished. Guess I’ll go back once the update is released.

I’m leaving today on a 2 week vacation to the UK. Was very tempted to play it in the morning but ultimately decided against it. I am very much looking forward to it, the first one is one of my favorite games, I think I completed it 3 times.

Cool, but would hear to the soundtrack for the first time as part of the game, the way the experience is intended!

@CVCubbington Well maybe we should all just buy Switch 2 and ditch our Playstation and Xbox consoles, as well as gaming PC's.

Why would I cripple my console? Would seem a bit silly to buy a PS5 Pro to then hold it back through this.....

Sad that Xbox just gave up. We will all suffer for the lack of competition. Without competition, I doubt our PS5 would even have played PS4 games….

I would just want MK Gold and MK Trilogy N64 version. I know this should address the loading times in the PS version which was the main issue with that one, but I had the N64 version and for all intent of purposes is the one I remember and prefer (the whole point of this is nostalgia, so I want it to feel authentic for me)

I’ll only buy if it comes out for PSVR2. RE Village VR2 mode was one of the best, most immersive gaming experience I ever had. Going back to flat for this would be very underwhelming.

@Scottyy I wouldn’t try it if you hate turn based combat. I do as well, tried three different times, never made it past 5 hours. If you don’t like it, you don’t like it. Don’t fall for FOMO like I did.

I have never played one of these, but they may be right up my alley. Any recommendations?

@DennisReynolds Mine too. Just because of that I may double dip and buy digital and physical, one for PS5 and one Switch 2!

I don't know why he would. Seems like a stupid question to ask him, considering the drama from 10 years.

@MrPeanutbutterz The key card is just an attempt to clearly label what publishers have been doing for year (for example: DOOM Dark Ages is a clear offender). At least it provides more transparency to the customer who can then make an informed choice.

Nintendo does it better thought. Their physical editions are playable off the cartridge, no installation needed, an even their collector editor contains a phyisical version.

Looks amazing but not the first. Ghost of Tsushima Directors Cut also had non existent load times.

Please let it have a PSVR2 version. That’s all I want.

I’m 95% the PS6 will exist when this game comes out. But hopefully they do manage to get good performance out of the PS5 if it’s cross gen.

@dskatter indeed. Fell in love with BOTW again starting over on Switch 2, playing mostly on my LG OLED, and in this scenario it’s a massive upgrade over Switch 1. Oh well, guess I’m imagining it.

If I don’t pay attention, that game’s art and title make me think about Split Fiction. I thought it was a really late review of that game until I realized is something different.

Should be a good PS7 launch title.

I dropped it after a month, while I played MKX and MK11 until their successors came. It didn’t click with me at all, didn’t like the alternate story, the roster and the kameo system.

It’s funny that here people keep dismissing gamepass. The whole software industry is moving to as a service model. Wonder why? Because you lock-in revenue! Microsoft seems that has found a way to have their cake and eat too. You want to be in Xbox ecosystem, you want to play on PS, you can, but you have to pay full price. Seems that they’re getting there a healthy stream in both channel, helped because they’ve just bangers lately.

@OldGamer999 This is me. In most games, I don't have a clue of what's going on - I just want to get going into the action, and you're right, I think it's because we grew up in a time where there was little to no story in games.

@EfYI Nintendo slipping under the radar? If anyone is a big winner, it’s Nintendo with the Switch. And switch 2 is looking to follow the trend.

No, I've never been a fan of turn based combat games. A couple of years ago I fell to the hype of Baldur's Gate 3, and dropped after 10 hours, don't plan on making the same mistake (although technically I could try it on GamePass).

I loved the game, finished it two times, and enjoyed every minute of it. They nailed the overall vibe of the old Indy movies! Once you play it, you'll understand why it is first person. The combat wouldn't have worked any other way and the "rudimentary" melee combat and stealth combination is a breath of fresh air and lots of fun.

The only announcement they could make that I would care about would be PS5 Pro support, but they’ve already said that isn’t coming. Another one would be PS VR2 support but come on, that will never happen LOL

@Boxmonkey that’s not a win at all. They’re making physical more expensive, but they are not reducing the price on digital. Who is winning there?

The problem I have is that at least during combat, Ubisoft higher difficulties seem to be limited to make enemey sponges. Like for example, a headshot with a bow an arrow should always be a insta-kill, no one can survive one. Yet some enemies take two or three, and that's playing in normal difficulty.

This looks absolutely incredible. Just like that, I have a new #1 most anticipated game. Loved the first one, this looks like something else.

And just like that Microsoft becomes the largest publisher of PS5 games, and the article omitted DOOM. Are we living in bizarro world?

Resident Evil Village in VR is one of the most immersive gaming experiences I’ve ever had. Hope the price point gets tons of new user and therefore compels more developers to publish games for it.

I'm struggling with the learning curve 10 hours in, but I think I need to stop playing it like I'm a combat powerhouse and just take into account its mechanics. I've been more succesful just sneaking, or having the bandit following elsewhere and then go back into their camp and take what I need instead of engaging in direct combat. But it's kind of necessary to "unlearn" what I have learned after years of gaming.

I my case I just planned to play Kingdom Come Deliverance 2, which I was able to play anyway, so no impact at all.

Well was on the fence about buying this one. This made the decision much easier.

@Rich33 100% agree with you. The lack of communication is the worst thing, which of course leads to speculation.

@Steel76 I love these very insightful comments. Especially from people who frequent a gaming site…..have you forgotten that people pay for a service and expect it to just work, and many folks expect to relax in their weekend gaming and it may be the only gaming time they have.

Have played all of them, no way that's changing now!

It’s entertaining. But never really understood the hype about it. Been playing the Apple Arcade version and did a few runs for a week or so but never really got hooked.
