Sony's upgraded PS5 Pro system will be the best place to play Indiana Jones and the Great Circle on console hardware from next week, as Microsoft has shared the sort of support owners can look forward to when the PS5 port releases on 17th April 2025.
In addition to the new PS5 launch trailer (embedded above), Bethesda took to the PlayStation Blog to detail how studio MachineGames is taking full advantage of PS5 hardware, including the base system. No matter which PS5 console you're playing on, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle will run at a "stable 60 FPS with high quality resolution".

It features "frictionless loading", "greater detail and quality as well as more realistic and dynamic lighting throughout the world" thanks to ray tracing, and 3D audio and HD rumble capabilities. The PS5 pad's light bar surrounding the touchpad will react to your actions, and haptic feedback and the adaptive triggers will both let you "feel every action in the palms of your hands".
This level of support will be available on both base PS5 and PS5 Pro, but it's the latter where the developer is taking things to the next level. With a native 4K resolution and "advanced" ray tracing, Bethesda's senior content lead Anne Lewis calls it "the best way to appreciate the level of detail the team at MachineGames has poured into every corner of the world".
Lewis continues: "You could spend hours just walking around the different environments admiring every little thing, from each artifact in Marshall College’s impressive collection to the verdant beauty of Sukhothai’s jungles." No details on any potential frame rate improvements on PS5 Pro are shared, though 60fps comes standard — even on base PS5.
Indiana Jones and the Great Circle comes to PS5 on 17th April, or you can start playing two days early by pre-ordering the Premium Edition, which includes an upcoming expansion. Are you planning on picking the game up next week? Let us know in the comments below.

Um pc would like a word 😉
Incredible thumbnail!
Great game this is
Excellent news, I was a little worried the game wouldn't get a Pro boost but good on Machine Games for delivering - thank you
I loved the game, finished it two times, and enjoyed every minute of it. They nailed the overall vibe of the old Indy movies! Once you play it, you'll understand why it is first person. The combat wouldn't have worked any other way and the "rudimentary" melee combat and stealth combination is a breath of fresh air and lots of fun.
Starting to get pretty excited for this, but I need to finish Shadows first. Too much time designing rock gardens at the hideout and not enough time being, ya know, an assassin...
Got to give MS praise for allowing Pro upgrades. Despite my disinterest last year in the game i have pre-ordered it mainly because after the sheer acclaim it got i can't ignore it.
More like Bethesda, who is already used to developing on PlayStation, makes PS5 Pro the best place to play Indiana Jones.
@Drago201 I'm sure they mean 'on console'. PC just added full dual sense support.
@Hapless same here!
@OldGamer999 except the hdr is broken after the new update on AC shadows on pro
@Drago201 I tried it on pc and it just crashes constantly so played it on the series x , I'm guessing it will run better on the pro, you should have said the minority of pcs really.
MS is doing a good job with these ports. Excited for whats to come.
Yeah a lot of ps5 games that was on x box is going to be the best place to play. Word up son
2nd best maybe.
Thank you machine games for the pro effort, will defo be picking this up at some point!
Microsoft chose… wisely. Will sell bucket loads.
@Drago201 it says on console hardware though
@Drago201 I thought it goes without saying, the article (and site) is console centric.
Has Sony said how many PS5 Pro they have sold? Or the digital only for that matter? I'm pretty sure I've seen PS5 total numbers but not sure about broken out.
I'm one of those not playing a first person game gamers. While I'm sure this works as a game that way I'd rather see my movie based games play as a movie. I've seen every Indy movie, don't recall a lot of first person perspective scenes. The famous film scene of Indy being chased down a cavern by a boulder is going to look a lot different in first person.
@AhmadSumadi @Hapless Having played a good 6 hours of the game, it absolutely would not make sense in 3rd-person. Environments and corridors are narrow, Indy's movements are stiff and restrained, enemy telegraphing is meant for an up close viewpoint, there are puzzles that involve looking at environmental details, menus are diegetic in a way that would feel clumsy in 3rd-person.
You would really have to make a completely different game if it were 3rd-person. Which is maybe what you guys are advocating for — I dunno.
@RoomWithaMoose yeah. That’s pretty much what I’m saying. I know it’s built to be a FPS so that’s why it feels right that way. I’m absolutely advocating for an entirely different game. A game that, were it 3rd person, I’d gladly play. And I’m not knocking this game. Plenty of great FPS. Just not my chosen genre.
I have played a few hours on my Series X and can say that this game scratches the nostalgia itch for those of us who grew up with the original trilogy. I’m definitely considering a purchase on the PS5 Pro.
I have so far reserved judgement as to whether MS / Xbox is serious about being a proper 3rd party publisher on PS, or is just after a quick cash grab.
How significant their Pro improvements are over PS5 and more importantly Series X versions will answer this, as far as I am concerned.
@Drago201 PC port also had a rocky launch. Not even sure if it's been fixed.
@OldGamer999
Im pretty sure shimmer, and pixel creep are still a potential problem at native 4k - you still need anti-ailiasing in place.
Certainly, its a complete misconception that native 4k is better than using a lower pre upscale res image and good upscaler. The problem comes when using a native (pre upscale) resolution which is too low.
There was a game that showed this recently, but I cant remember which it was.
And no gyro controls(at least confirmed)? Ah come on Bethesda, you nearly got the "perfect port" stamp (feature wise). Will check it out though, still got Hogwarts in the backlog to go through...
This saga is not my cup of tea. I hadn't played any of the games, but I recently started GoW 3 on my 360... and I don't know.... I didn't like it. it's kinda repetitive and the personalities of every character seem the same.
As dumd as I am. I'd buy a collection if it has a physical relaese.
@OldGamer999
I can certainly understand that. But I think resolution is only a part of the issue if too low (and you are right that some games go far too low - anything below 1080 is a bit of a red flag). Improvements to upscalers like PSSR is probably the best bet.
@Drago201 a big ***** to PC and anything related
My Pro running at 4k in my 60 inc C3 Oled TV is better than PC
PS5 Pro will be the best place to play most Microsoft games going forward.
@Residentsteven 3rd person wouldn't change a lot. It doesn't feel directly like a Tomb Raider game, besides a few climbing scenes and some whipping, it's often more walking and puzzle solving. 1st person view fits very well and in some scenes it changes to 3rd person.
@UltimateOtaku91 don't forget that a new Xbox is in development.
There a still several great games Xbox only and the PS5 has a very expensive controller with bad sticks and not many choices beside the Dualsense.
Series X is a great place to be right now.
@OldGamer999
I dont necessarily argree with LODs as, as far as Im aware, not many games have increased these for Pro enhancements. Hogwarts being an exception - this clearly did increase LODs in Perf mode, but also increased pre upscaler res and added PSSR too (a bit of everything).
When it comes to RT, I do agree. Pros power should be used to fix framerate issues, then upgrade image quality/stability (though native 4k is often unobtainable and inefficient), then add RT if and only if resource allows.
RT and overcomplicating the graphics in general are causes of low image quality. The overcomplication of graphics will just add objects that can shimmer too.
One of the benefits of cross gen is you are less likely to see these issues (and to be fair, I would have accepted cross gen, all generation).
The need to have Series S versions of games is probably the only thing keeping some devs from far overreaching their ability and ending up with sub 720p!
@Hapless Same here.
@UltimateOtaku91 You have your joy now.
It's an amazing game and it's brilliant that PS5 only gamers get to play it.
@UltimateOtaku91 Are you going to play them? I am platform agnostic so I am happy about more games being available to others. How about you?
This is the best Xbox first party game since Halo’s heyday. I encourage you all to jump into this one, have fun, and enjoy. The game is very modern in presentation, but also delightfully prior generation in the way that it feels game-y like PS3 era FPS… and I mean that by how we remember that to feel rather than how it actually feels, if you know what I mean. It’s nostalgic in the best possible ways.
Looking forward to this!!
Someone has to bring something to the Pro other than the Last of Us and remakes. I mean the fact that MS is likely to carry the Pro over Sony is weird times. The Pro is a beta test for PS6 and outside a few games no one is saying that the Pro is good. Like it’s just there, but at $700 dollars you need to be more than just there. You need to stand out. If GTA 6 don’t stand out on the Pro in a way that gamers can see, the Pro is noting more than bragging rights of power that the average gamer has to go to DF for their 300X zoom on a piece of grass.
@Residentsteven ok.... Why than even bothering with this game or games like this?If I would use YouTube everytime for puzzles, I wouldn't have fun anymore or I would feel very stupid.
I'd argue console is always the "best" place to play games anyway. Lot to be said for the ease of them compared to "PC" which wildly varies
🎶It's a cultural devide I'mma get it on the Pro🎶
@OldGamer999 apparently it's more noticeable on oled rather than mini led , so depending what tv you have it seems you get different image quality , there's not many games that do hdr well without some sort of downfall , before the patch hdr was superb on ac shadows, there's clearly an issue with the new patch hopefully a hotfix isn't far away.
Say anything for the dollar bill Y'all 🤑
Great that they’ve enhanced it for PlayStation, now we just need a VR mode for PSVR2 and we’d have the ultimate versions.
