One thing the PS5 ushered in (that we perhaps now take for granted) is vastly improved loading speeds, and Death Stranding 2: On the Beach may just be the best example yet.
The console's SSD enables much quicker loading that can have some seriously impressive results, but we've not seen a game go from main menu to full in-game control as fast as this:
According to this clip, loading a game in Death Stranding 2 appears to be nigh-on instant, with a split-second fade to black that you may not even really notice.
There does appear to be some variance, as evidenced in the below video from Digital Foundry, but the outlet's observed load time is just 1.2 seconds, and they corroborate the above post's main-menu-to-game time, describing it as "virtually instantaneous".
Considering the size of the game's environments and the fidelity at which they're rendered, it makes the achievement even more impressive.
Here's another example:
We've seen a lot of fantastic examples of super-fast loading speeds on PS5, with the likes of Marvel's Spider-Man 2, Horizon Forbidden West, and Ghost of Tsushima: Director's Cut being standouts, but Death Stranding 2 might just take the biscuit.
The game launches fully tomorrow, 26th June.
