The results are in for the PlayStation Blog's Game of the Year awards, and Sucker Punch's PS5 sequel Ghost of Yotei walks away with lots of wins.
The open world action adventure scoops up Best PS5 Game, along with awards for Best New Character, Graphical Showcase, Art Direction, Audio Design, Accessibility, and Use of DualSense.
In some of the categories it didn't win, it came second place; it's the runner up for Best Story and Soundtrack.
So, PS Blog voters really liked Ghost of Yotei, then, often trumping this year's favourite, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.

That's like sucking your own...
More snubs for Death Stranding 2?! This is why democracy doesn’t work!
It's a fantastic game that deserves to do well. My second favourite game of the year, right behind Cronos: The New Dawn though there was not much in it for me...
Lumines arise got robbed at these awards
Well deserved. Easily my game of the year, and nothing else came close. A massive improvement on GoT, and I can't wait to see a sequel to this, or maybe Infamous.
The 'best graphical showcase' was very well deserved too, and I note that DS2 came in 2nd here, which was also amazing in this regard.
"Studio of the Year - Kojima Productions"
List of Death Stranding 2's awards: ...
Great to see Lies of P Overture win best expansion too. I loved the base game, but Overture really added to the game as a whole, in a way most expansions simply do not.
After playing overture, I just had to play through the base game and Overture again in a single playthrough (NG+3 I think).
The overall package Lies of P now sits at the very top of my best soulslikes, and above even Fromsofts games.
Best graphical showcase: Ghost of Yotei? Get outta here. It’s top 10, but no way is it the best graphical showcase.
I like Yotei more than E33, sure, but the brand loyalty is coming a little strong in this batch.
I will add shinobi 🥷 art of vengeance as my second favorite game and clair obscur expedition 33 as number 1.and gran theft auto 6 as my most anticipated game of 2001.word up son
Brilliant game, I'm just more happy that the game is in the top 10 sold games of year, that's when you know the game is good, despite when Twitter tried to tell you...
@Mattock1987 Got to agree out of the two DS2 rocked over E33 at least visually and gameplay. Having said that Troy Baker really grated this time I usually like his work maybe it was the script but it was over played at points it almost ruined the game. But E33 had the kind of emo plotting that maybe appealed more to the woke masses hence it's appeal. But the ending was crud introducing the painters or whatever they were called so late was utter garbage. It felt very weak like they were either setting up or a sequel or making stuff up on the fly bit like the X Files show.
@Mattock1987 i think death stranding is my game of year, loved it although was a bit easier than 1st. Visually though defo beats anything this year.
I really, really liked the game but had to push myself to finish the last 1/4. It could've been a little shorter and 1 big area less. After clearing out 3 big areas I just couldn't bother with the last 1 (which also felt the least interesting/beautiful to me) and just finished the main story quests.
Finished the game in about 45 hours.
@RoomWithaMoose I thought that was funny too. Everyone voting Yotei for everything and then Sucker Punch doesn't win Studio of the Year.
This is a much more accurate reflection of reality than what we got at the game awards.
If you can't win at TGA just make your own I guess...
But of course! 😆
PS Blogs having better results than Game Awards lol
Anyway, I'm playing Ghost of Yotei and yes, this game is really good and fun. I'm surprised at how it's more engaging than Tsushima, and i finished Tsushima just a couple of months ago. I thought i was gonna burnout with Yotei and yet I'm 20h in and having so much fun
The game feels more organic and less "checklist". I also thought the improvements they made in the combat are very good. Having multiple weapons instead of different stances made the game so much more dynamic. Too bad Kingdom Come didn't win anything
Kingdom Come not winning anything is a crime.
Even though I liked Ghost of Yotei, I feel it was a step back from Tsushima.
Tsushima thrived on restraint, tonal consistency, and subtle storytelling, Yotei explains its themes and pushes emotion too hard. The narrative often tells instead of showing, which weakens all impact
Also Erika Ishii's delivery frequently over-emphasizes emotion, shifts intensity too abruptly, and uses a modern cadence that clashes with the historical tone. Rather than letting moments breathe, the performance draws attention to her. And if you saw how she behaved at the Game Awards, that makes a lot of sense.
When there is too much PlayStation fanboyism even for the PushSquare staff…
@McBurn Haven’t Sony won it more than any other publisher?
Good game, even though in many respects I prefer AC Shadows, including the more realistic graphical style which on balance has had more "wow" factor for me, and the English VO of the protagonists.
I know that won't help me win any popularity contests.
@Dogbreath I'm curious how many people will read this and not understand what you mean by "more realistic."
I think gamers are generally bad from differentiating high-fidelity graphics from realistic art direction.
@SeaDaVie : I'm sure they did. Doesn't matter, I'm just joking around xD
Might be beating a dead horse here, but not as surprising as spider man winning over BG3
