Cyberpunk 2077's Highly Anticipated Sequel Has Entered Pre-Production

Cyberpunk is such an amazing game. I have completed it twice and started a third and final path-playthrough and really enjoyed my time with Night City.

You reported earlier that the leak was precipitated by suggestive lore present in Night City already and well-substantiated theory-crafting by the community. This leak doesn't ruin anything for me - it only fuels intelligent theorizing by an engaged audience waiting for the next installment. I saw something similar with how the hype and conversation surrounding the Harry Potter books kept the audience engaged.

@DennisReynolds There are Unreal Engine games that don't stutter, it's up to the skill of the devs to achieve this however. The whole engine is modular and you can include or completely rewrite whole modules e.g (lighting, physics, LOD, loading etc.) if you want to and have the skill.

When CDPR did their analysis of what went wrong with with CP2077 their main takeaway was with delays onboarding new developers to their engine. It takes months to learn a new tool, but years to really master it, and as devs become more skilled with Unreal I feel these issues will be overcome. (Incidentally 343 had the same takeaway for Halo Infinite).

Of course there are pros and cons to this choice, but it seems to be made for the right reasons, and i'm excited to see what CDPR can do with the Engine. I feel if you have a very large and transient set of staff using a standard engine is probably more sensible, whereas if you have a smaller, tighter team of experienced devs who stick around at the studio a bespoke engine might be a better choice.
