Kingdom Come: Deliverance developer Warhorse Studios is (technically) losing one of its most prominent figures, as director and writer Daniel Vávra steps away from the beloved RPG series, and games in general.
Instead, Vávra will help lead the Kingdom Come: Deliverance movie project, which makes for an interesting twist.
According to Warhorse boss Martin Frývaldský, this change isn't down to any kind of internal friction; Vávra "has been wanting to try something different for a long time".
"Getting Kingdom Come to the screen or the screen in the next few years is another milestone that we want to achieve, and that is Dan’s new role," he continues, as per an interview with CzechCrunch (translated by VGC).

Still, it's a bit of a shakeup for Warhorse, as Vávra played a pivotal creative role in the making of both the first Kingdom Come: Deliverance and its incredibly highly rated sequel, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2. He's credited as director and lead writer across the two titles.
Frývaldský reckons the aforementioned movie "can be extremely successful in its own right", especially with Vávra penning the story.
