Re: PS5 Firmware Update 20.02-02.30.00 Available to Download Now

Bloodletter

I was having the following issues:

  • Sometimes the console lags, as if you have a 10 year old laptop and you click on Chrome and it takes a couple seconds respond to your click. A console restart fixes the issue
  • On DMC V I would lose sound, then lose control of the game, the menu pause menu would come up on its own, the error screen would come up, I would submit the error and then I'd return to the game which hadn't crashed, surprisingly.
  • On BL3 I still cannot transfer my characters.

Re: Horizon: Zero Dawn Update Lowers the Difficulty for Casual Fans

Bloodletter

I actually played it and finished it few days ago and without having any experience with the game, I played it on Hard. Yeah I had my fair share of deaths but it's a whole different thing watching every machine and thinking "they can kill me in 3 hits". That extra fear added a lot to my overall experience.

Re: PS4 Firmware 5.0 Features Leaked Ahead of Beta Testing

Bloodletter

Yeah, cool (not really).
Call me when we can disable the background going blue on its own, thus defeating the purpose of dynamic themes. Also, instead of doing that, maybe the screen saver would actually work in a fashion where the menus go invisible and only the timer stays up on the top left and if you click anything on the controller, they come back or if you have a new notification.

Except that, call me when we can play media files from a USB device, when we can change our names in some fashion and when we can choose any picture for a background. These will never happen.

Re: Hands On: Is Tekken 7 the True Return of PlayStation's Most Iconic Fighter?

Bloodletter

I think this is in part due to the game being in the market for two years already, mostly in Japan. The Tekken 7 team has been receiving feedback from the community and has developed the game according to that. Capcom with SF and NRS with Injustice don't do that, they develop the game in-house and then release it to the public. It's a double-edged sword of course because I've been hearing about Tekken 7 for almost 3 years now.

Re: Tekken 7 Doesn't Hit 1080p on PS4 Yet, But Its Frame Rate Is Silky Smooth

Bloodletter

It doesn't matter. Why? If you're playing a fighting game, you're most likely focused on the two characters on the screen and not if the edges of the rocks in the Dragon's Nest stage are slightly pixelated which by the way is almost impossible to see unless you zoom in to the background.
Besides, there will probably be a PS4 Pro patch that enables 1080p or 4K. Same for Scorpio most likely and PC will have the option in the settings.

TL;DR: Stable framerate > resolution.

Re: Rocket League's Incredible Popularity Has Resulted in Ongoing Server Issues

Bloodletter

For me, it's the best game that PS Plus has ever given to us. The devs were fighting for years, trying to explain the concept of football + cars and they were getting shut down. They spend pretty much all their budget to the game which left them with no funds to promote at all, PS Plus was a one way trip by default.

Now? It has over 20 million players across three systems, it's an eSport, it has a massive community. What an amazing game.

Re: Is Sony Prepping a Slimmer PS4 for Release This Year?

Bloodletter

I am of the impression that Sony isn't looking to make any current Pro users unhappy with a newer model, nor is it trying to prevent users from buying a Pro now in the hopes that a better model will come out this year. PS4 Pro released only a few months ago, it's too soon to get an upgrade, even if it's a smaller size.

As for design, what could they do? Make the logo not glossy? The console already has a matte finish. Methinks that Digitimes is just speculating without any real evidence.

Re: Tekken 7 Delayed to Avoid Mistakes of Games Like Street Fighter V

Bloodletter

The delay would've been a bit easier to accept if I hadn't been already waiting on the game for 3 years. The only redeeming factor is that early 2017 looks amazing as per game releases. Also of note is that the Crash Bandicoot N.Sane Trilogy is supposed to release mid-summer, there are quite a few nice classic PlayStation vibes there.

Re: PSN Down for Some as Web Rages Over Connection Issues

Bloodletter

Down in Europe, Greece. It's weird though because it says it's down when do "Test Internet Connection" but the PS Store is working and I can see my friends list as well. Also, the PlayStation Network Service Status says everything is working fine. None of this makes any sense.

Re: Video: Crash Bandicoot's First PS4 Appearance Looks Awesome

Bloodletter

@BLPs there are three words that people get confused about: Remake, Remaster and Reboot. Reboot means restarting a franchise in a new era of hardware (aka Tomb Raider) while Remake means remaking a game for the new era of hardware using new assets (aka Ratchet & Clank 2015). Remaster (from my understanding) is simply updating an older game for new hardware (aka Sleeping Dogs, God of War 3) using the old assets and upscaling them in a higher resolution.

TL;DR The new Crash Bandicoot is a remake, it will have new assets much like the latest Ratchet & Clank game. (I am no expert in definitions so if everything I said is wrong, go ahead and correct me).

Re: New Berserk PS4 Gameplay Trailer Finally Gives a Glimpse of How it Plays

Bloodletter

<---- As a huge Berserk fan, I can't help but think how the game would look if we got something akin to Devil May Cry. Obviously Guts cannot jump around with aerial combos and movement should be limited to the ground, focusing instead on heavy-hitting attacks that chain together. Playing as Zod or Skull Knight could also be an option after one playthrough. I was never really drawn to DW-style games unfortunately.

Re: E3 2016: Crash Bandicoot Makes a Comeback with a Remastered PS4 Trilogy

Bloodletter

I've been saying this for YEARS!!
First, remaster the first 3 games. That will hit the old players with nostalgia and it will introduce new players (newcomers from Xbox maybe) to the series. The only thing I am hoping for is for them to keep the 2-D perspective and the difficulty from the first game but update the controls and the dead zones of the jumps and whatnot.

Re: Gran Turismo Sport Looks Much Better Than You Think on PS4

Bloodletter

I had no idea the game was so much different from GT6, I was one of those that were saying it looks like GT6.5 or something....BUT, it's still not the most photorealistic racer out there. I think Driveclub and Project Cars are still beating it, at least at this point. Maybe when it releases in November the game looks better or maybe GT7 improves even more, but right now it's not the prettiest out there. That's not to say that the game looks bad by any means, I think it looks beautiful. Especially the trees in the Ring, they finally have proper geometry hah.

Re: Wow, Ratchet & Clank PS4 Looks Seriously Sensational

Bloodletter

Day One? is that even a question that requires and answer? This is one of my most anticipated games for this generation. I've been following this series since its debut in 2004, across 3 systems. This is a re-imagining of the first game with more content added, new weapons and graphics close to a CGI movie. I am as excited for this as with Dark Souls 3.

Re: Poll: Are You Happy with the PS4's Current Firmware?

Bloodletter

I got one small issue and it's got to do with the friend notifications. As usual, Sony took 1 step forward and 1 step back for me. One the plus side, I can choose who I want to see online but on the downside, every time somebody comes online, the notification pops up with the sound effect. I hate the sound effect. The sound effect is nice on notifications for friend invites or party invites or game invites where I like to be notified in that moment and clearly see it. When someone comes online though? It's not AS important so that they have to notify me with the sound effect which can be extremely irritating if you have selected all your friends to pop up. PS3's notifications were silent, I'd like an option on that.

Re: Urgh! Could There Be More Greek Mythology on the Way in God of War PS4?

Bloodletter

When I played the God of War demo back in 2005, I was amazed and blown away by everything. Plus, as a guy of Greek descend, I hold this series very dear. However, I do agree that after killing most of the pantheon of Gods in God of War 3 and exploring the past of Kratos in God of War: Ascension, there is simply nothing more to do that would have an impact on the story and move it forward.

Re: Bungie Is Making Some Good Changes to Destiny in the April Update

Bloodletter

For anyone even thinking of complaining, consider the following:
This update is made by the Live Team, aka the people who previously made SRL, The Halloween event, Crimson Doubles for Valentine's Day. It's not like all of Bungie is working on this update, It's a really, really small team and this is their biggest project yet. I say they have done a remarkable job of revitalizing the game.

Re: Evidence for Supercharged PS4.5 Console Mounts

Bloodletter

@AyeHaley We don't have enough info yet, but frames and resolution will be the reason. Imagine if the new supercharged PS4 is now capable of playing all games in 60fps in native 1080p and 4k resolutions (kind of a stretch with the 4k but oh well). Maybe you and I don't care, but a few dozen million of people are now feeling buyer's remorse because their system is not as good and are stuck in "peasant-only 30fps". Such comments will come up if any of this is true. Also, devs will "have" to make different versions of the same game: One version for PS4, one for PS4K, one for Xbone, one for PC (with multiple options), one for NX, one for Vita (?). I may be exaggerating but you never know...

Re: Evidence for Supercharged PS4.5 Console Mounts

Bloodletter

Difference being, that the slim versions of PS2 and PS3 weren't enhanced in power, only the size changed and in PS3's case, the HDD. Now however, it'd be stupid to release another console that is more powerful than the current PS4, it will split the fanbase. Not only that, but if I am to buy a new console every 3 years, that defeats the purpose of owning a console and everyone should move to PC.

I hope this new PS4 is only smaller in size and the only differences are a new HDD and that it can play movies in native 4k or something (if you have the appropriate TV).

Re: Poll: Are You Still Playing The Division on PS4?

Bloodletter

Quite surprised at the poll results. Granted, I am also one of those that didn't buy it. For me, I think I rather wait till summer when the game will have likely received a few patches and hopefully, some additional content that makes the endgame worthwile.

Re: Live: This Is What's Coming to Destiny in the Big April Update

Bloodletter

I've been playing Destiny since it released and I know the state it has been in for the past 6 months, BUT.....the game does some things really, really good. Better than most games out there. It just has this something, the combination of magic and sci-fi, the lore (if you take the time to read it), the shooting mechanics, the passionate community...I am excited for this update, for the fall update and the next game coming in 2017.

Re: Borderlands Dev's Battleborn Beta Will Begin 8th April on PS4

Bloodletter

I love Borderlands, I think they blend the FPS mechanics with the RPG elements quite successfully. I was part of the closed beta for this game and damn, I was bored out of my mind after 1 hours of playing. The absence of loot is disappointing (I know it's a MOBA-style game) and many characters don't even shoot guns. The one cyborg I could use that had a laser gun, I couldn't even aim it, I was hip-firing. Not only that, but the sound effects were bland, movement is weird, enemy AI is not so advanced and so on. Completely skipping this and I rather buy BL3 when it's out.

Re: Rumour: Sony's Building a Supercharged PS4 Console

Bloodletter

That's so extremely wrong. Why would you want to split your fanbase? Sony's been doing this for a long time too? PS Plus for example: "You can get PS Plus now for 35 euros until the end of the month but only for new members or if your PS Plus has already expired". Why not give a discounted PS Plus to all users? That's just an example btw, an upgraded console would be terrible in my opinion.

Re: Sony's Been Prepping for E3 2016 Since the Start of the Year

Bloodletter

@KratosMD Well yeah, the idea for me was to release the trilogy to get people hyped up for a new game. To be honest, if they release a new Crash game I'd rather it be similar to how games up to Crash Bandicoot and The Wrath of Cortex worked, with a central hub and multiple stages all around.

Re: Sony's Been Prepping for E3 2016 Since the Start of the Year

Bloodletter

They should start small. Release the first three games as a trilogy in Ratchet & Clank 2016 graphics level (not so much Pixar of course) and see how it goes. It'll probably be received well and it will provide a platform for further games. People who never played the first three can get an introduction to the series and people who played the first three games are going to have a blast from the past.

Re: Yes, Sony's Still Teasing a Crash Bandicoot Reveal

Bloodletter

You know, they could start small. Release the first three games or the first game only with updated graphics, trophy support etc. Then if the feedback is positive and the people want, you can go bigger and start experimenting with a new game. Still trying to forget Crash of the Mutants so yeah, nothing of that sort.
