By my calculation if unit sales are down 36%, but revenue is only down by 9.8%, then that means pricing increased by roughly 41% which is INSANE and from a business POV, quite brilliant.

I understand it differently. I thought it means that PRE ORDER download codes will only last 170 days.

It's ironic, but I got a PHYSICAL copy for £49.99 from Amazon a month ago. sigh.

A prequel doesn't excite me as much as whatever could follow after part 2.

They could cover that in flashback sequences - they're good at that.

They might make a loss on each PS5 sold, which tbh is debatable at this point, but if buyers are subscribing to PS Plus then they'll likely be back in profit.

Therefore I don't believe selling fewer units improves its profitability - it actually stifles it.

The PS6 already released 2 years ago. They just called it a "PS5 Pro".

Also, I wish this never got leaked. I blame myself for clicking on the articles but having this as a full on surprise would have been so much better.

Sony Santa Monica are just so so good at making games.
Everything from the art design, to the combat, to the character models to the soundtrack were just top class. This looks sensational

Weird one. I was expecting better considering the hype and the whole theatre deal so I was disappointed. However God of War looked so unbelievably good.

I just finished this yesterday. While the patches are welcome I'm really looking forward to playing something else now. That final boss fight was absolutely diabolical.

I've never played a more marvellously terrible game.

Really hope this is Q1 2027, with Witcher 4 in Q4 2027. That would be quite marvellous.

Guess we'll find out at one of their upcoming earnings calls.

Yup still hyped. They announced this was in full development back in 2022; I'm SO intrigued by what can be achieved on a PS5 with a heck of a lot of time and infinite money.

I understand that but this is a PlayStation fan site. The PS5 Pro is the most premium product PlayStation have so anything about it is gonna get coverage here.

Maybe they wanted a final push the week before release to tie in with whatever Rockstar had planned to hype the game around the same time.

Either way, I've been down this road before. Every time it's been a false alert so I'll just refuse to believe this.

Rockstar have been practically airtight until now, so it's hard to believe the jig is up because of 'Best Buy'.

The more likely scenario is that this email was automated and linked to the previous May release date.

They could've easily said it wouldn't be GTA 6, but they and/or Rebel Wolves must've decided to go along with it. I guess no such thing as bad publicity

In fact, they care so much that they'll tell you how much they do not care.

Looking forward to this. Insomniac aren't stupid. But anyone expecting this to play like Spiderman might be, though.

Let's not celebrate yet. It seems this patch has introduced a heap of other problems. Sigh

Because of how well Returnal looked and ran on base PS5, I'm expecting this upgrade to be more muted than what we see with RE9 or Crimson Desert, for example.

But that's more of a compliment to Housemarque than anything else.

Because it probably wasn't a good game in its current state: Narrative issues, game engine issues etc.

So what do you do? Release it as planned and it ends up a critical and commercial failure, which will lead to lay offs anyway.

OR start again and spend another hundred million making it, with the need for success even greater to cover the development costs which have gone over budget?

It's extremely difficult and as much as I hate it, I do understand it.

The state of gaming is nuts:

Two weeks from launch, for one of the most highly anticipated yet highly questionable game releases in a long time. Surely they'd want to put the information out now? It's not like optimisation can change much in the next 14 days.

My guess/hope is that the information comes out with the final previews in a couple of days.

I have this feeling that once 2026 is done, with games like RE9, Crimson Desert, Saros, Wolverine and GTA 6 all released, the PS5 Pro is gonna be taken a lot more seriously by gamers.

If you told me in 2020 that we wouldn't get a console exclusive, that wasn't a remake/remaster, from ND and SSM until 2027, I'd have called you a lot of terrible names.

This is brilliant stuff. I'm thrilled.

Not a single surprise or new game releasing THIS year that excited me, so disappointed.

But at the same time, RE9, Crimson Desert and Saros will keep me busy over the next few months so I won't complain.
