Replaying 2018 reminds me of how high my hopes and expectations were for Ragnarok, and how they were never met despite my love for it.

Live service games aren't going anywhere. They make too much money; money that Sony will need to keep investing in our beloved, but increasingly expensive single player games.

If more PS5 consoles were sold in 2023 than 2022, then the current headline of this article is categorically false.

This DLC is absolutely amazing. In some ways, it has what Ragnarok is missing. I don't know if it's the more focused story or the setting, but there's just something about it that I can't put my finger on yet. Absolute 10/10 and my personal gaming highlight of 2023.

Xbox are very much the plucky underdog so a 4% increase is huge for that little company.

Well said. I was one of those crapping on this game at every opportunity, purely because I was so disappointed with what it turned out to be.

But Rocksteady are very talented. And I honestly think if anybody could get me to enjoy this type of game, it's them. So I'll give this a chance.

I didn't buy the PS4 until Batman Arkham Knight came out in 2015. I really love that game. Bat tank and all.

After that, it was Uncharted 4 and God of War (for which I got the Pro). There's not enough words in the world to describe how incredible those two are.

A couple of days ago my go-to punchline would've been that we'll still play this before GTA 6.

But now? I'm all out of material. How sad.

Anywhoo, Rockstar have to deal with probably the highest expectations of any game developer in the history of this industry. I hope they're ready.

Of course, I love Ragnarok. But you had about 130 million PS4 + PS5 owners potentially buying it.

Spider-Man 2 has an install base of 90 million fewer on PS5 only, but is selling faster. That's what's so impressive.

Impressive considering it's PS5 only, unlike Ragnarok.

I'll also add that this is the PS5 gaming experience that I've waited 3 years for.
This is so far ahead of SM1 on PS4 that it's not even funny. Insomniac have delivered.

Incredible. I'd really like to see the difference between the vanilla PS4 version and Spider-Man 2, too.

Very bad take. The blame does NOT fall with the gamer who doesn't want to accidentally have a games story spoiled BEFORE it's even been released.

My point is, if the game has a solid frame frame 95% of the time, how is that such a bad thing to be called out as a con?

I see it as a positive considering the fact that most games these days perform much worse than this.

The review states that the game sticks to it's 60fps target '95% of the time'.

So why is there a con at the end of the review saying 'frame rate struggles occasionally'?

Bit of a contradiction, no?

If one of the two re-releases is GTA 4, I will actually cry actual tears.

Just got this on the deal last week. Performance mode runs at 37fps and it's crashed for me twice already. Seriously cannot believe Push Square said it had 'minor issues' in its review.

with a solid 60fps on PS5, and looks/plays better than 90% of current gen games.

Just finished A Plague Tale after getting it a couple of sales ago.
I wouldn't call it underrated but it doesn't fully get the praise and accolades it deserves. Well worth the money

I'm surprised this tweet has spawned an entire article, for the reasons mentioned by the author.

Had premium for a while but only so that I could stream God of War 1 and 2 before Ragnarok released.
I then let it expire before joining back into Extra on the discount last week. Premium has absolutely nothing else to offer me....unless Future Cop LAPD shows up 🤩

How about discounting the PS5 version of part 1 below £52.49 as a gift 🙃

Mission accomplished. I let my Premium sub end in April so I could rejoin Extra when a deal was on.

So let me get this straight.

Naughty Dog created a fun and well received multiplayer game. Some years later, they started making a sequel to that game.
Bungie came in because Sony wants GaaS to rule and then Bungie told ND that the sequel multiplayer game they are making won't keep gamers engaged and consequently spending money for long enough, so the whole thing is more or less cancelled for now.

Wow.

I feel very... whelmed.

When the best thing about the show was a remaster of a PS3 game, you realise that there's a big problem with "what's next" for gaming.

Sony absolutely did not deliver here.
