Crimson Desert developer Pearl Abyss has this morning deployed the PS5 open world title's most significant update yet and players are already loving its additions, changes, and tweaks.
Update 1.04 is available to download now on PS5, and it's around 29GB in size. The headline additions are difficulty options, boss fight replays, more ways to store items, and huge improvements to the game's draw distance. Up until now, you have been playing Crimson Desert on what has become the Normal difficulty setting. If you want, you can change the difficulty mode to the following:
Crimson Desert on Easy Difficulty
- Reduced damage taken by the player.
- Reduced maximum health, aggressiveness, and overall speed of opponents.
- Extended timing windows for Parry and Dodge.
- Reduced the frequency of bosses attempting to counterattack or escape when hit.
Crimson Desert on Hard Difficulty
- Food item effects won't be applied immediately and will only take effect after the consumption animation is complete.
- Increased damage taken by the player.
- Increased maximum health, aggressiveness, and overall speed of opponents.
- Reduced timing window for Parry and Dodge.
- Reduced the invincibility duration for Roll.
- Increased the frequency of bosses attempting to counterattack or escape when hit.
- Added additional combat patterns for certain bosses.
The new patch also adds a number of different storage options, now allowing you to sort your collectibles and outfits into their own places. The Greymane Camp has seen its own enhancements, you can now keep a bird as your pet, there are five more cats in the game, and further adjustments have been made to the control scheme.
What you should also notice after applying the update is improvements to the graphics when viewed at greater distances. Pearl Abyss has "improved the rendering quality of distant objects and textures. The higher the graphics settings, the more enhanced the details and visual clarity will be." Players have already begun sharing before-and-after comparisons, and the results are impressive.
