CD Projekt Red has confirmed that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Songs of the Past — the game's brand new expansion — will get its full reveal at Gamescom 2026.
In fact, the DLC will actually be on show in the developer's dedicated area, so it's fair to expect a proper blowout ahead of its intended 2027 release.
This year, Gamescom opens its doors on the 26th August, and runs through to the 30th August. As always, it's taking place in Cologne, Germany.
I can't wait to see this expansion in action. To me, The Witcher 3 remains a role-playing masterpiece, and its existing two expansions are both outstanding in their own right.
I just wonder what else the developer has up its sleeve for the game, which is now over 11 years old. It's more than reasonable to assume that Songs of the Past will somehow tie The Witcher 3 to The Witcher 4, but would CD Projekt Red really go back to Geralt's adventure without tweaking things, gameplay-wise?
It already made some meaningful adjustments when The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Complete Edition came to PS5 in 2022, and I can see additional improvements being implemented four years later. I guess we'll get to find out in August!
