Re: Reaction: I'm Sad It's Over, But Destiny's End Was Overdue

@Jediwills I heard this story of a great studio being held back by someone else too many times now to keep believing it.

First it was Microsoft. Bungie went off to Activision and created Destiny. Who we'll blame for the game's shortcomings? Well, Activision / Blizzard of course! Then they went independent. And people blamed them for the sad state of Destiny 2. But now it is Sony's turn.

I blame Sony only for purchasing Bungie. those money could have been spent on other studios making better games than D2.

What generative AI cannot do is drawing something which is not already present in its database. It's just a rehashing of elements kicked off by a prompt in the approximate direction, and driven by the random numbers generator. Zero chances of any creativity. But I guess it is good enough for many folks here believing in bright beautiful AI future.

@Boxmonkey I think many bought into Bungie's fame, as the company name does have mass appeal, tried the game which was a new experience for them, and many predictably didn't like it. How healthy retention is can be seen in the second month of the game being live.

Re: Review in Progress: Marathon (PS5) - Bungie's Extraction Shooter Is Brilliant, and It Only Gets Better

@Ajbr8687 Perhaps the meaning of what I said was lost in translation: live service game does not mean it has to be centred around multiplayer. It doesn't mean it has to have micro transactions out loot boxes. Destiny was a single player live service game with multiplayer activities slapped on. Marathon is the opposite.

Not actively rooting for it to fail; simply predicting that it will "perform below expectations"

@Ajbr8687 Destiny first and foremost was never a multiplayer game at the core. Core activities were designed around players personal progression with cooperative multiplayer on top, working in the most casual and non demanding way. Compare that to say Helldivers.

Compare that to Marathon, which is multiplayer competition at the core, with additional activities secondary to that. It is the opposite of Destiny, or Halo.

Also, a live service game is just a game with continuously updated game world. No Mans Sky is a life service game. It doesn't dictate the design to be centred around multiplayer activity.

@wildcat_kickz The problem is not there's not enough good solo games to come by. The studios which can pull off a truly great game are few, and that is the problem. When the studio like Bungie is forced to do whatever is the current live service fad, of course people are upset. Of course, they want this trend to fail so the studio can go back to doing what they do best.

Re: 'We Want to Honour the Halo Legacy on PlayStation': Xbox on Halo's PS5 Remake

I will be careful with this remake. I loved the original game, and want to replay it again.

However I read some critical take on the remake that by adding new mechanics (sprint) breaks down the pacing around which the levels and environment were designed.

I don't think this is near the level of Demon Souls remake, so I'll be patiently waiting for your review

To all people who do have stick drift: had this after 3 months on start with the original daulsense that came with PS5 I bought on day one. Figured can't be due to mechanical wear and managed to fix it by using WD40 contact cleaner spray. It is non-conductive so is safe to use with electronics. Had to open the casing though to spray into the base of the drifting stick.

No problems ever since.
