It probably shouldn't be surprising at this point, but No Man's Sky has just received yet another free update, adding more new content to the space exploration game.
This update is named Breach, and it's out now on all platforms, including PS5 and PS4:
Breach's big new addition is space wrecks — dilapidated old space ships you can explore and salvage for materials.
The previous update, Voyagers, added the ability to build your own custom ships, as well as space walk. Breach builds on these elements, giving you more to do in zero-gravity and new avenues to get materials for ship parts.
Sean Murray sums it up well in a press release:
Today, with our latest update, BREACH, we’re introducing space wrecks to explore, leaning into that thrill of space-walking, and giving players more excuse to enjoy it. Salvaging these wrecks unlocks a huge array of new ship building parts which has been greatly requested. We’ve also improved and expanded ship building in response to watching players spend so much time in the workshop designing their dream ships.
On top of that, Breach adds a new expedition that expounds on these new space wrecks and lets players unlock new ship parts, including some themed around the Atlas.
The expedition also has players visiting purple-star systems, which are rare and contain wilder planets to explore.
This isn't quite as huge an update as some previous No Man's Sky updates have been, but it adds another layer of stuff to engage with in a game that's now jam-packed with cool features and things to do.

I have called the mental institution because these devs are completely insane for providing so much free content.
Man remember when it launched and was laughed at? Now its one of gamings biggest redemption stories. Love to see it
REALLY want to like this considering the idea and post launch support, but imo it feels like there was no fun or satisfying aspect designed into the base game, it just feels like work, maybe just not my kind of game though!

This is what a live service game should be like
This game is freaking unbelievable.
@Simu001 one of the biggest redemption stories? You mean THE biggest. Nothing else comes to mind - I would love to be corrected - I don't think there was ever such an arch as the one NMS had so far.
I am preordering their next game sight unseen. I don't care. I want to reward them for what they did with NMS.
Greatest come back story ever. We forgive you!
I don’t really understand how they can do this. Does the game have mtx or another monetization scheme, or are there really still enough people out there who have not bought and end up buying when these updates are released? Genuinely curious
@viktorcode this is why , when people act like they hate live service games i show them games like this or gt7 both keep pumping out updates and neither makes you pay for them. they keep making content to have users keep playing the game , and it makes it worth paying for these games because you always have new stuff to play.
Is there still no story? That's what originally turned me off from this game. It's cool that they've kept supporting it all these years though.
@pyrrhic_victory theres always been a story , they've added multiple side stories as well , but theres always been a story.
@TheDudeElDuderino I was thinking maybe cyberpunk...but no you are right. It is THE redemption story and I'm glad to have witnessed this turn around.
@Simu001 i'd say cyberpunk is a pretty good example i mean it wasn't unplayable but they really did make a lot of improvements / quality upgrades after release.
@rat-paradise It depends on how you play it. I detest survival games, but this game gives you a ton of freedom in customizing it to how you personally want to play. I play a completely stress-free version where I get to just explore with no real consequences. I play it to relax.
@TBubs311 The latter. At least according to their latest filed accounts. All these content drops generate positive word of mouth and articles like this one, and they get another spike in sales.
I bought a first class ticket for the hype train when this originally released. Like most people I was disappointed. Since then, with all these big updates, I've tried to get back into it but it never seems to get the hooks into me. Last time I tried it was in VR and was having fun with it until BG3 came along and took my attention away. Maybe it's time to give it go again. 8th time's a charm eh?
