Five years into the PS5 generation, we’ve been treated to some great games. Even just this year Game of the Year contender Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 impressed and ARC Raiders conquered the multiplayer space.
But what are the PS5 games that we think are truly top class? The games that we awarded the full marks, 10 out of 10? Casting a look back over the years, there’s actually only 10 such PS5 games which were awarded a full score here at Push Square.
The 10 out of 10 PS5 games are as follows:
- Demon's Souls — 12.11.2020
- What Remains of Edith Finch — 28.07.2022
- God of War Ragnarok — 09.11.2022
- Resident Evil 4 — 24.03.2023
- Baldur's Gate 3 — 06.09.2023
- Alan Wake 2 — 27.10.2023
- Astro Bot — 06.09.2024
- Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 — 04.02.2025
- Split Fiction — 06.03.2025
- Death Stranding 2: On the Beach — 26.06.2025
If you'd like to see these games in action, head on over to the Push Square YouTube channel, where we have a video version of this list. There we take you on a journey across the generation!

…No complaints! I’d add Elden Ring and perhaps 1 or 2 others, but everything that’s here is absolutely 10/10. Very pleased to see What Remains of Edith Finch listed; it’s one of my all time favorite indies.
¿10 out of 10?, I don't like almost half of the games on that list.
... and only 4 of them are a 9 out of 10 or higher.
Great list of games and a few there I still need to play, I'd also add Trails in the Sky Remake, FF7 ReBirth, Metaphor Re Fantazio and Horizon Forbidden West to that list.
Expedition 33 not on the list. Fully deserved.
I have not played a single one of these games haha
You forgot TLOU 2. Big ups Alan Wake 2, though. Well deserved. I am surprised Elden Ring isn't here though.
I agree with Astro Bot at least! Not so much with the rest though. Not that they are bad I just wouldn't call them 10/10s.
Alan wake 2 for the win.one of the best video games ever made Word up son
A fair list, though to be honest Ragnarok is quite over-inflated with acclaim. Ragnarok becomes relentless with combat encounters so gratuitously the pacing takes a hit, and also Atreus expresses his boredom and fighting draugr over and over and over again. Yes it's an epic adventure in SONY's ostentatious fashion, but its shine is too excessive. Same with Alan Wake 2 because Saga Anderson is bleh personality wise-she aint no viking lol. If Saga's a viking then Alan Wake is a space cadet.
@Korgon
Yes, I can only see three outstanding games on this list, with Astro Bot, BG3 and Edith Finch, while Elden Ring is missing. And „outstanding“ is Hookshot‘s definition of a 10/10.
Alan Wake II is one that I can't get into. The whole mind-mapping thing is disruptive. I wasn't a big fan of Saga either.
A personal 10/10 for me is Unicorn Overlord. It and RE4 Remake are my only two this gen so far, unless we're counting ports of games that launched originally on PS4, then the number goes up.
A good list (for making a boring taste bingo)
Edith Finch isn’t just a 10/10, it’s one of the greatest pieces of art across any medium.
I’d have added Clair Exp 33 and FF7 Rebirth - not just the best Final Fantasy game but the greatest rpg of all time.
Great list! Half of them not my cup of tea but you can’t deny them.
Where's the Witcher 3 love??? Where is it???
@Dalamar Mocking others’ taste, how constructive. Why dont you enlighten us with your superior taste? 😉
Demons Souls is the best technical showcase for PS5 and still looks, sound better and plays better than a lot of games out.
@BowTiesAreCool I may have to okay it again.
Alan Wake a 10? Why exactly? It was a 7 or 8 at best. And Ragnorak didn't do anything innovative either. It was a copy and paste affair from the 2018 game.
Demon's Souls run backs got old quick.
It’s a nice list. My Ps5 top picks (not necessarily 10s) would be:
@FantasyExplor3r88 I would not give a 10 to Ragnarok too but it’s a great game. Can’t really be blamed for playing similarly to the game it is the direct continuation! And they built upon the gameplay of 2018 in a lot of ways.
I’ve only played one of these lol. But I’ve been enjoying the hell out of some 7/10ers thought b
@wildcat_kickz Witcher III is my all time favorite video game. That being said, it’s no 10/10.
I would add:
Hogwarts Legacy
Spiderman 2
Lies of P (particularly if Overture is included)
(All of which I think are genuine 10/10 's)
And Ghost of Yotei would be a very close 9.5
RE4 and AW2 - I wouldn't give 10/10 to. They aren't bad, RE4 is excellent, but not quite 10.
Glad Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 got in there.
@FantasyExplor3r88 2018 was amazing. Ragnarok built on that amazement and delivered a better, more emotional story with great new characters. Both games are arguably 10/10.
The fact Death Stranding 2 is a 10 but E33 isn't makes the list invalid 😅
Jokes aside that's a solid list of 10's.
Stellar Blade
I feel Clairrr is a 9, KCD2 is definitely 10. What we did in Semine alone....with Von Bergow's men...no game has made me feel this bad since TLOU2, story wise, and that was even on the side not the main plot, it's crazy. With Clairrr it got to a point I kinda lost interest in all that family drama.
Elden Ring should indeed be on here, Returnal as well. Ragnarok? I’d give it 6,5/10 at best.
For me, the 10/10s are:
Elden Ring
Alan Wake 2
Final Fantasy 16
Final Fantasy 7: Rebirth
Balatro
Astro Bot
Death Stranding 2
Hollow Knight: Silksong
So… I half agree with the Pushsquare list! I’d say I’d rank Edith Finch as a 10/10 too, but that’s a PS4 game for me. Might as well say a bunch of PS4 games with PS5 upgrades are 10/10s if that one’s included, you know?
All that said, even the 10s I disagree with, it’s impossible to deny their impact and quality…
None of these are 10s, 1 or 2 might be close, but list is void because you miss 33, Alan wake, FF7 and of course powerwash simulator 2
when they release the treadmill accessory for DS2 itll be 10/10
There is only one game on this list that I have played, and that is Ragnarok.
Honestly, I did not enjoy it as much as the first God of War game.
For me, Hogwarts Legacy is a 10/10. Personal taste.
@zhoont
They gave the ps4 version of TLOU a 10 not the ps5 remaster they gave that a 9
Y'all know what game I would have on this list.
And yes Elden Ring needs to be there, that's a crime PushSquare! You can't have Demon's Souls remade by a third party there whilst the originator- FromSoft has none there... NAAAAHHH.
Death Stranding is so far gone from what I enjoy, it makes me look at this list a little sideways.
@Matthewnh
Hogwarts Legacy is highly under rated, though I think to get the best out of it you need to play it on Hard.
It has a very deep combat system when you get into it, get a few spells, and start ignoring basic cast.
I’m really not enjoying Death Stranding 2, after loving the first one. It’s like they stripped away everything that made the first game good. Can’t walk more than five feet without something interrupting the quiet.
No Rebirth on the list makes me sad.
Only played RE4 remake from that list and it's a 9/10 for me.
I feel like quite a few of these are a bit too niche to be 10's. Ragnarok was good, and I enjoyed it enough to get my platinum, but with Atreus being super whiny, and the story being a bit too much teen melodrama I couldn't put it above an 8. I found myself pining for the PS2/3 games style for over half of it.
@Korgon
wouldn't call astro 10/10 either
Im happy and proud for Alan Wake 2
What remains? Lol...
Astro Bot is a 11/10.
Elden Ring should replace Demon's Souls. I'm surprised no-one really bangs on about the graphics as the landscapes even on a base PS5 are absolutely draw dropping especially the first reveal once out of the prologue cavern.
Strong list. I haven't played them all, which is GREAT!
No game is perfect, but that's not what a 10/10 is.
But I would absolutely have have Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 on the list, best game I've played this gen imo. Silksong was close, almost immaculate, but that higher difficulty and boss run-backs just slightly ruined the progression flow.
@Nnfyrbsnss I like What Remain's of Edith Finch, it's quirky and unique but I have never understood this 10/10 glazing. I guess we all like different things. It really doesn't matter what anyone else thinks, enjoy what we enjoy.
@Jammer @TheArt @somnambulance @Darude84 @Max_the_German @zhoont @Balaam_ Regarding Elden Ring, it's worth noting these are the games they scored 10/10 at launch based on the state they were in then, not what might have gotten a 10 now.
Elden Ring launched with pretty shoddy performance which they marked it down on, that (at least in part) got fixed later. But they did call it "By Far FromSoftware's Best Ever Game"
@themightyant
I bought the PS4 disk to play it on PS5 in the upcoming months, and I think that combination was almost perfect from day one. I understand that this cannot be the basis for scoring a game though.
@themightyant Are you sure about that? I thought Elden Ring was almost flawless from day one.
@Darude84 Almost every review discussed poor performance. Digital Foundry went as far as to suggest the only way to play at a smooth framerate on next gen... was to play the PS4 version on PS5. Not even VRR would save you on XSX.
@Max_the_German See above.
My point is that there were some fair reasons to mark it down AT LAUNCH. It's in a better state now and likely deserves a 10.
@themightyant
And it still was almost perfect AT LAUNCH when played the PS4 Pro code on PS5. And it’s still in a poor shape when playing the PS5 code on PS5 or PS5 Pro. Where have we seen significant improvements over time? From the analyses I‘ve seen, there are none.
Returnal is an unforgivable omission. I also would agree that Final Fantasy 16 belongs on that list. For people with psvr2 I would place Re Village just above Re4 just because of the awesome sequences in the castle. I would also argue that GT7 belongs on this list for people with psvr2,
I mean these always end up in subjective arguments but I can't resist engaging.
Edith Finch - absolutely outstanding game but it's an old PS4 title.
BG3 - the bungling performance especially in the third act can't be overlooked no matter how great everything else is. I don't think they should be given a pass for that. Give it a 9 if you like.
AW2 - Another great game but I think there are many issues and weakness that prevent a perfect 10. Unlike BG3 I wouldn't even go for a 9, it's an 8.
I see people mentioning Hogwarts. That to me is a genuine 10. In terms of a gaming adaption, who the audience is and what it does, I can't fault it.
I found Ragnarok so boring after the first one, was so padded out it just went on and on for no reason
Im guessing elden ring isnt here as its cross gen, but its the only game this gen i'd personally give a 10
As for me, I would add Elden Ring.
@IntrepidWombat Unicorn Overlord has got to be one of the most underrated games of this entire generation. It's outstanding.
Elden Ring has too many technical issues to be on the list.
Only finished GoWR and AWII from the list and both of them would be lower with GoWR being 8/10 and AWII 6/10(maybe 0.5 more if I'm being generous.
I look forward to play Resident Evil 4, Baldur's Gate 3, Astro Bot, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, Split Fiction but have doubt any of them would get "Perfect" from me. Maybe RE4 since I love the og.
I have just discovered something odd.
Push Square review scores for:
The Last of Us (PS3) 10/10
The Last of Us Remastered (PS4) 10/10
The Last of Us Remastered (PS5) 8/10
The Last of Us Part II (PS4) 10/10
The Last of Us Part II Remastered (PS5) 9/10
This seems rather inconsistent. But I suppose there are good reasons for this.
