@Wazeddie22 VR has zero impact on eyesight. If your eyesight is deteriorating go get it checked out and get some glasses. On that note, I’m hoping Sony allow prescription lens inserts in their new headset. Or at least make it easiest to wear glasses without scratching them. Happened to me day one (both a scratch on my glasses and the headset lens, although never again thereafter strangely)
Really excited for PSVR2 and it’s a day1 for me but, looking at it from a more reasoned perspective, if it doesn’t get big uptake first of all due to low PS5 availability then this might lead to lower developer uptake and less excitement than would be needed to push it to mainstream; whereas a later release with a big dev push and what would likely then be a slightly lower price…this may be the better strategy.
@Alduin Hopefully no day one big budget games please!!! As my backlog is so large I won’t get to them for months anyway so the increased cost I’d have to pay would be a complete loss for me.
@CynicalGamer
Lost Judgment would be close to the top of my list too. If not too. Fantastic game. Have to disagree with you that the original was superior though. Lost has a far superior story in my opinion, better side games and side stories, plus the drone circuits were less frustrating. I also actually enjoyed the combat, whereas combat in the original seemed far less precise for some reason.
I don’t get the fatigue thing. Last year I got the plat for all 7 Yakuza games and Judgment (still working on Lost Judgment and FotNS). The games are so varied in what they offer that I only felt a little burn out with the worst of the bunch Yakuza 4. If any games keep fatigue at bay it’s the Yakuza /Judgment series I feel.
For me: FF16, Forsaken, GT7 and Hogwarts Legacy. Also, presuming PSVR2 comes out this year, and Astro Bot 2 is a release game (because why wouldn’t it be), then that would shoot to the top of my wanted list.
Looks like it’s time to do that second persona run for the plat I always meant to do. Need to remind myself of the story in that way. I think the working resume function on PS5 will make the the run much more enjoyable than my first play through where I was forced to finish incredibly long and tedious dungeons before being able to stop.
@Uncharted2007
Apparently Sony are pioneering haptic technology that connects pulses on the skull to avatar momentum in various directions, and this is meant to ground the movements in such a way as to reduce motion sickness. Various studies into such things show an improvement apparently. Not sure how much, but Sony seem to know reducing the motion sickness some people feel isn’t only a software design issue, but can also be accomplished in part through their hardware.
Given I have limited time to play, I had to decide on just one platform to own. PSVR2 made the choice of getting a PS5 for me. Nothing amazed and thrilled me last gen more than Astro Bot Rescue Mission. Nothing even came close. With better motion controls I doubt I’d ever choose 2d flat window mode ever again for most games. So, yes, I’m massively excited for PSVR2. It’s where next gen begins for me.
Borrowed my brothers PS4 copy and finished it once. Was thinking about playing the ps plus (now) PS5 edition for the plat but this makes me weary. Also, not sure if it has a separate trophy list. Probably just won’t bother.
Generally very good advice. Especially about Astro’s Playroom. I wouldn’t take to heart the need for additional storage however. Especially if not sharing your PS5 with others . The fact is the hard drive space is more than release PS4, and the native PS5 games are generally smaller than their PS4 equivalent. I got PS5 at release and haven’t had any storage issues. Spending hundreds on storage is something that should only be a last resort if you have issues with not wanting to delete games even once finished.
I really hope this Is the case! Dirt 5 I’ve been meaning to get. Persona 5 Strikers looks like one I’ll actually try rather than just download and forget.
No interest in the multiplayer only game but 2 is enough to put a smile on my face.
Same sale prices as previously, which are mostly higher than physical. Really don’t get the point of these so called “sales”. If people really want to save money they’ll not buy games this way. I feel it’s become a way to try to get people to just impulse buy things.
@KundaliniRising333
I think their direction is fine. If you want a focus on combat then their are a million cookie cutter games to play instead. The great thing about games that put actual effort into their narrative is that they are genuinely unique. There are only so many “combat mechanics” available, story potential is infinite.
And I don’t say that as a fanboy (did you really just say “fanhumanism”?! Lol). In fact I found TLoU a slog myself because I hate stealth mechanics. But I still didn’t regret my time with it because the story was so engaging. And, hey, many people like stealth games.
Hoping for tales of Berseria or Catherine. They keep going on sale but not by enough. It’s extremely frustrating to see the same sale prices all the time.
As always, hoping for some actual sales (as in games at prices lower than their usual “sale” price, which for me is the actual price given this is the price games are at every other month anyway).
Can’t pretend I can be bothered to watch the video (seriously, is writing so hard?), but, as for PSVR, as phenomenal as it is, I still haven’t connected it to my PS5. I’m keeping my PS4 as my PSVR box but haven’t turned that on in a while either. Kind of want the PS5 enhancements but without the worry of whether the breakout box will degrade the presentation of standard PS5 games when played on the TV. I’m also kind of in PSVR2 headspace since it was announced…
Really looking forward to this. Especially career mode which I’ve missed. 4K HDR and 60fps. Nice. Not sure why people are bemoaning the lack of ray tracing. This is a track game. It would be a waste of processing power in such a static and predictable environment. My hope, as with all racing games, is that rubber banding is non existent. Also, that the always online requirement doesn’t mean endless seasonal events and DLC.
Last time they “reduced complexity” it was globalising everything (read censoring / banning) and requiring everyone in Asia to pass everything through America in English (because using multiple languages are just so convoluted).
Not really liking any of these. The black is just boring and the colours garish. I feel the covers need more of an interesting, perhaps two tone, design.
Looks great, but coop being online only is disappointing. I suppose if they give a code for a free second player, and if it’s cross platform, I could use the ps5 a move the PS4 to the bedroom TV. But coop is best in the same room, and I’m not moving around a second TV.
This is impressive in so many ways. But, everything is ruined for me here (as well as in many games) by the smudging of everything that happens when the camera rotates. Is this due to the low fps meaning things aren’t updated fast enough? Or is it a stylistic choice?
I didn’t like the nemesis system, nor the Mordor games, but playing as Wonder Woman would be epic. Although this is going from my experience with the older representations, haven’t seen the modern films.
I’m actually really looking forward to this. So much do that I’m not watching any story reveal trailers like this. Will likely pick it up towards the end of next year.
@Tsushima First and second I enjoyed, although much more so the first. You might like this. The whole small town setting and general plot bored me though.
No adaptive triggers and/or no haptic feedback? These are objectively worse controllers in many respects for around 4x the cost! No thanks. The only thing I’d find useful about these types of controllers would be the back paddles, but it’s not worth the losses.
Edit: although I can see the benefit for people with arthritis like the guy above.
It’s all very well saying vote with your wallet, but there are always new generations of gamers coming through who’ll just live with this from day one. It gets normalised. As an older gamer I’ve seen the normalisation of micro transactions and DLC and people eventual just come to think of it as normal without even considering whether it’s right or necessary. These companies are in it for the long game, and calling new young gamers mugs and encouraging them not to open their wallets will only get us so far.
I can’t for the life of me see a way around this.
@Trousersnake
Exactly the same here, although I fell out of love with Ninty games as I found them too cookie-cutter. I have time for PlayStation and one other, and that one other should be wondrous and significantly different. Only VR really fits the bill.
Must be a mistake. There isn’t a single PS4 game that isn’t available to download. It also is more tech intensive for Sony and gives the publisher a second rate experience to push on customers to whom they wish to sell the full trilogy.
@Just2Milky £400+ is easily worth it to me. I used to buy all consoles every generation, but with reduced gaming time I now will just get PS and PSVR. Another console will offer largely the same content, VR is a totally different experience.
Just under 2 months on the service? Ok, it’s a short game, but still! Ridiculous. Games should be on there permanently or not at all. Anything else is just a tactic by publishers to get people to start and then need to buy it to finish.
