Re: Manufacturing Tittle-Tattle Tips PSVR 2 to Enter Production Soon

@Wazeddie22
VR has zero impact on eyesight. If your eyesight is deteriorating go get it checked out and get some glasses.
On that note, I’m hoping Sony allow prescription lens inserts in their new headset. Or at least make it easiest to wear glasses without scratching them. Happened to me day one (both a scratch on my glasses and the headset lens, although never again thereafter strangely)

Really excited for PSVR2 and it’s a day1 for me but, looking at it from a more reasoned perspective, if it doesn’t get big uptake first of all due to low PS5 availability then this might lead to lower developer uptake and less excitement than would be needed to push it to mainstream; whereas a later release with a big dev push and what would likely then be a slightly lower price…this may be the better strategy.

@CynicalGamer
Lost Judgment would be close to the top of my list too. If not too. Fantastic game. Have to disagree with you that the original was superior though. Lost has a far superior story in my opinion, better side games and side stories, plus the drone circuits were less frustrating. I also actually enjoyed the combat, whereas combat in the original seemed far less precise for some reason.

I don’t get the fatigue thing. Last year I got the plat for all 7 Yakuza games and Judgment (still working on Lost Judgment and FotNS). The games are so varied in what they offer that I only felt a little burn out with the worst of the bunch Yakuza 4. If any games keep fatigue at bay it’s the Yakuza /Judgment series I feel.

Looks like it’s time to do that second persona run for the plat I always meant to do. Need to remind myself of the story in that way. I think the working resume function on PS5 will make the the run much more enjoyable than my first play through where I was forced to finish incredibly long and tedious dungeons before being able to stop.

@Uncharted2007
Apparently Sony are pioneering haptic technology that connects pulses on the skull to avatar momentum in various directions, and this is meant to ground the movements in such a way as to reduce motion sickness. Various studies into such things show an improvement apparently. Not sure how much, but Sony seem to know reducing the motion sickness some people feel isn’t only a software design issue, but can also be accomplished in part through their hardware.

Given I have limited time to play, I had to decide on just one platform to own. PSVR2 made the choice of getting a PS5 for me. Nothing amazed and thrilled me last gen more than Astro Bot Rescue Mission. Nothing even came close. With better motion controls I doubt I’d ever choose 2d flat window mode ever again for most games. So, yes, I’m massively excited for PSVR2. It’s where next gen begins for me.

Re: 10 PS5 Things You Should Do First This Christmas

Generally very good advice. Especially about Astro’s Playroom. I wouldn’t take to heart the need for additional storage however. Especially if not sharing your PS5 with others . The fact is the hard drive space is more than release PS4, and the native PS5 games are generally smaller than their PS4 equivalent. I got PS5 at release and haven’t had any storage issues. Spending hundreds on storage is something that should only be a last resort if you have issues with not wanting to delete games even once finished.

Re: Naughty Dog Shares the Games That Inspired It in 2021

@KundaliniRising333
I think their direction is fine. If you want a focus on combat then their are a million cookie cutter games to play instead. The great thing about games that put actual effort into their narrative is that they are genuinely unique. There are only so many “combat mechanics” available, story potential is infinite.

And I don’t say that as a fanboy (did you really just say “fanhumanism”?! Lol). In fact I found TLoU a slog myself because I hate stealth mechanics. But I still didn’t regret my time with it because the story was so engaging. And, hey, many people like stealth games.

Re: Video: The State of PlayStation VR in 2021

thefourfoldroot

Can’t pretend I can be bothered to watch the video (seriously, is writing so hard?), but, as for PSVR, as phenomenal as it is, I still haven’t connected it to my PS5. I’m keeping my PS4 as my PSVR box but haven’t turned that on in a while either. Kind of want the PS5 enhancements but without the worry of whether the breakout box will degrade the presentation of standard PS5 games when played on the TV. I’m also kind of in PSVR2 headspace since it was announced…

Re: Gran Turismo 7 Achieves 'Tangible' Realism on PS5 with Haptics, Ray Tracing, More

thefourfoldroot

Really looking forward to this. Especially career mode which I’ve missed. 4K HDR and 60fps. Nice. Not sure why people are bemoaning the lack of ray tracing. This is a track game. It would be a waste of processing power in such a static and predictable environment.
My hope, as with all racing games, is that rubber banding is non existent.
Also, that the always online requirement doesn’t mean endless seasonal events and DLC.

Re: Ubisoft Announces In-Game, Playable NFTs Called Digits

thefourfoldroot

It’s all very well saying vote with your wallet, but there are always new generations of gamers coming through who’ll just live with this from day one. It gets normalised. As an older gamer I’ve seen the normalisation of micro transactions and DLC and people eventual just come to think of it as normal without even considering whether it’s right or necessary. These companies are in it for the long game, and calling new young gamers mugs and encouraging them not to open their wallets will only get us so far.
I can’t for the life of me see a way around this.

Re: PS Now's GTA 3 Is Available to Stream Only

thefourfoldroot

Must be a mistake. There isn’t a single PS4 game that isn’t available to download. It also is more tech intensive for Sony and gives the publisher a second rate experience to push on customers to whom they wish to sell the full trilogy.
