I’ve never even had time to play all the plus games…it’d be cheaper for me just to buy and trade back the games I want than spend £13 a month (although I’m sure there will be a yearly option). If they add older games, that I could stream to my phone (so turn based gameplay), with trophies, I’d be more interested though.
@SirRealDeal While true, I am hopeful the haptics can alleviate motion sickness somewhat
To quote: “applying noisy stimulation to the vestibular system using bone-conducted vibration (BCV) that is applied at the mastoid processes […] has been shown to evoke the oculomotor and myogenic responses similar to those produced by linear accelerations of the otolith organs”
Lol. Seriously though, vibrations apparently confuse our natural systems enough to offset sensory mismatch according to some studies.
@TheDarkSide Yeah, it’s a shame, was my go to site for a good few years, but the admin and mods were mighty strange by the “end” (to put it mildly). Far better atmosphere here.
@TheDarkSide
Yes, same one. I got shadow banned for some reason, you know how the moderators are on there! I probably said something that wasn’t PC enough, likely on a censorship article lol 🤷♂️
I did try to go back with a different account assuming there may have been a mistake (a lot of people were banned in some kind of mass culling at the time) but I quickly got kicked again after barely posting, so I figure they monitor through an IP address or something.
Or maybe something I said in the forums that rubbed them up the wrong way; that place was a real cesspit when it was still going. They did right to remove it.
I remember you as a very chill and friendly guy (if you’re the one I’m thinking of)
Thanks for confirming that none of this impacts the single player game enjoyment anyway.
As much as I love VR, I really can’t see this as the best way to replicate american football. Anything other than actually throwing and catching just can’t work from a first person perspective.
Now if it wasn’t first person then sure, being able to view any sports game, as we play it now, but with depth perception, will be a boon.
@TheRedComet
Seems rational. I like to completely engross myself in a game rather than dip in and out though. Plus most of my games have a narrative and trying to follow a convoluted JRPG, for example, can be difficult enough without time gaps! Lol
The other problem Is would have I that I simply can’t always control when I’ll get time to play. Having a wife to consider and all.
Hopefully it’ll be fixed by the time work is finished for most of us (U.K.). I’m playing a PS Plus game currently and don’t want any authentication issues.
@RavenWolfe81 Must be honest, rarely play more than 2 games at once, so the current system of ordering by last use is fine for me. I understand some maniacs play dozens of games at a time though! Lol
I’d rather devs actually make framerate high and smooth rather than rely on crutches that actually mostly impact the look rather than feel of bad performance. Still, I have one of those LG models that support it so at least I’ll get the benefits, even if not ideal.
Can’t get excited about much of this. Hopefully the changes to the trophy display makes things easier to navigate. The voice control might be good to open games that aren’t pinned or recently used j guess, rather than going through the library, if that’s an option.
Don’t use any of the social features but hopefully people like that.
@TheDarkSide
Ok, sounds fine then. People caring about the cars being too expensive are mainly those who want to dominate online? I’m not bothered about that really, will likely only play online for the trophy challenges (although you need a lot of credits to get some of these legendary Le Mans cars For a trophy I think).
Great game. Hopefully they finish it soon by having rotating events and such so people can stop complaining about having to grind for those unnecessary cars they want so much, and can instead enjoy the game for what it is and go back to getting credits naturally.
As I don’t have the game yet, could someone confirm that these super expensive cars are not needed for the single player portion of the game? I have no interest in any type of online play to win grind anyway.
My memory from ps1/ps2 days is that you needed to be in a certain class/power band etc, otherwise you couldn’t enter the races.
@Jaz007 Just read it more thoroughly, and it does say you can “earn” £8 per hour with the perfect set up, and I guess having the PC running the script for an hour doesn’t cost that much, so I guess that answers that question (not sure what you meant by 160 but perhaps that’s in the video which I can’t watch while at work).
Seems like a wasteful and silly thing to do to avoid playing a game for fun, but it takes all sorts.
I’d never use this, but I’m interested to know whether the electricity cost for running this constantly exceeds the Microtransaction costs of just buying the credits…not that I’d ever buy credits either. I’d rather just play the game. The thing is, clearly PD just want to encourage people to play long term, and so nerfed rewards to stop grinding, but haven’t added yet the events to make up for that. I think they have the right idea there, but the execution is clearly lacking. They did clearly say they have plans and hope people can look longer term, but that doesn’t help people who want everything now and have already smashed through the main game.
Unreal 5 games will be when we see a big leap in next gen gaming. Looking forward to it becoming standard. Hopefully W4 won’t be as much of a mess as Cyberpunk. In fact, maybe that game being such a mess will end up being a good thing, as CDProject can’t afford another big hit to their reputation when W4 releases
A bit risky given some of the projects she has been involved in more recently and flighty nature (I think I’m thinking about the right woman) and the fact this studio hasn’t produced anything yet. Still, the more companies focusing on exclusive games (for all platforms) the better as far as I’m concerned. Make games the best they can be.
Great. The less online multiplayer in these types of games the better. Helps keep the trophy challenges away from online, as well as things like loot boxes and Microtransactions at bay.
Really looking forward to this game. Might even get it new to support all those involved due to this decision, and that’s a rarity for me. Love the Potter world.
I’m sure it’ll be sorted over time. Which is why I don’t buy games day 1. I was very tempted to do so here, as this is one of the few devs who seem to have a love and passion for their series, and usually wait until a game is finished even if it means multiple delays, but their deciding to go and do “games as a service” crap has seemingly thrown them off.
When the new events they allude to are added with frequency I’m sure things will be better, but reducing the benefits from grinding before adding those events was a big misstep
Then why do they not let you sell the cars as you could in older games? Surely that’s more reflective of real world value? And have some cars gone down in value too, as they must have done in real life?
I think this game just isn’t quite ready. They have an idea of keeping people playing for years (even though most people want to have every car very quickly) but they don’t have the live events and such ready yet to show people they won’t need to grind the same old content and credits will just come naturally as you play new material…
That’s good, but please no DLC. Put any extra work into starting a true sequel. By the time DLC comes out I’ve usually long since finished the game and either forgotten the story elements or straight up sold it.
I would have thought the natural and logical thing for them to do would be require people to do longer races for more credits. Keep the minutes per credit ratio at a level. The fact they weren’t doing this already is what really baffles me.
Well, given I’d never pay £60, it rising to £70 is irrelevant to me. I have so much in my backlog that, by the time I get around to this, it’ll likely be on heavy sale anyway.
@Milktastrophe Thanks for letting me know about this. I have no intention of playing online either for various reasons, so knowing there would also be no full trophy challenge “mode” to complete is the difference between me getting it and not too.
Everything back down to its normal price I see. Will probably pick up Fruit Ninja VR as it’s impossible to get physically. Finally pulled the trigger on Beat Saber recently as I resolved myself to the idea that it will never be in a sale, so I’m in a VR mood at the moment.
Well, in all honesty, lighting and expression aside…they haven’t really done her justice have they. I mean it’s fine if they don’t want Aloy to look like she could be a glamour model, but then why pick this person to use as the base? Weird.
@get2sammyb
It was more a question about whether, like some games, getting only the single player but not the online element gets you bombarded with “reminders” to visit the shop and buy it, or informed about sales on it etc.
So, if we get the single player component only does that insulate us from all Microtransaction and online bull? If so I might get it at some point. I was under the impression I’d be constantly “encouraged” into their online travesty.
I don’t commonly buy dlc as I’ve usually finished and got rid of games by the time they come out, and moved on to others. If the price drops to a reasonable amount though I might get this. I’ve been waiting for the value to go back up before getting rid of the disc so still have it to hand and, amazingly, remember everything (having to finish it twice for the plat helped with that).
No way I’m paying this much though. Not for a few chapters. I’ll wait for it to drop to about £6-7 if that’s all this is. Also interested to see what the trophy challenges are; usually get massive value out of them in the main games.
Well deserved I think. I suspect that their strategy of requiring always online and having it be a service game (boo), also likely meant a high proportion of gamers would’ve gone digital too, which makes these physical sales all the more impressive.
Knowing the devs, it’s just a way to be more closely integrated into the real world auto industry. For other publishers it’ll be a way yo “encourage” purchases by making people think it’s a good deal at certain times compared to others. So generally a bad practice.
