Re: French Retailer Warns PS5 Players to Choose Console Carefully After Xbox's Activision Acquisition

@Medic_Alert
Indeed. I don’t blame MS for flexing their operating system muscle. This is no different in principle to what has happened before. In practice however, we now have a company involved that could monopolise the whole industry if they wished, and the inability for other companies to compete is concerning.
A couple more big publishers like EA and Take 2 basically destroys Sony as a serious platform for the casual gamers, and thus any competition in the market.

Our only hope then is that Apple or Amazon step up their game, but those are not gaming companies. We’ll then see the horrible future of subscription only Microtransaction riddled rubbish dominate, and MS very happy to go down that road.

@Medic_Alert
I don’t think he was concerned about MSs pockets. More about the industry, in which increasingly publishers are being bought up and consolidated under a monolithic organisation. But more, for players who have had multiplatform franchises they have played for generations torn away from them and imprisoned behind Xbox/Gamepass in order to try to force them to move platforms, and then likely manipulate pricing to “encourage” them into a subscription model in which they own nothing.

@RevGaming
This is weird. I labelled this guy a fanboy for spouting fanboy nonsense. It’s quite obvious. This is NOT an employee/company sign. It’s clearly something someone has printed off to “warn” people the PS5 is “inferior” or, more likely, to get a photo on social media.

This is not because a retailer wants to sell more series S (cheaper) consoles as you suggest. The Series S is not selling so badly that the retailer would risk their supplier relationship with Sony in such a way.

If you think that a company, which relies on these manufacturers for stock, would be so publicly biased against one of their suppliers, you don’t know how business works.

Observation biase on your side, clearly.

@RevGaming
Erm, there can be no other reason. Not that I can think of anyway. Would you like to hazard a reason other than the obvious fanboy nonsense we’ve all experienced before? An employee who didn’t care about such things wouldn’t have a reason to do this. The business doesn’t care whether it sells a PS5 or Series console, all the same money to them.

“ The problem I see is PS4 owners can not claim the PS5 game for later when they can buy a PS5. ”
Yes, yes they can. As long as they have a smartphone, or know somebody with one. Or have a PC at home or access to one…
Not sure why, after all these years, people are still unclear about this. We’ve always been able to claim these game on the website of app.

Re: Sony's PS Plus, PS Now Cross-Gen Bullsh*t Continues

Well, I figure the “need” to offer streaming on Now (and so not further confuse and fragment the service), along with restrictions on components needed to stream ps5 games and the lack of PS5 owners is the reason for that decision.
As for Plus, they likely have a budget set based on the cost they sell the service for, and publishers insist on more money to offer both versions of the game. This obviously looks bad in relation to Gamepass, but that service is far more expensive (plus we should really compare, if you feel comparison is necessary, to Games with Gold, and there Sony clearly offer better value).
As a PS5 owner I’d like more PS5 versions given but, honestly, cross gen PS5 games are often little different from the PS4 version, just slightly more stable or with higher resolution.

Persona 4 Golden by a mile. Then…Tales of Hearts R?
Other than that Gravity Rush is the only stand out.
Really though, it wasn’t about stand out games, but good smaller budget games to play on the go.
Had a lot of fun with dungeon crawlers for example. Criminal Girls 1&2, Conception…
Then really small games like Riddled Corpses Ex (I think that’s it’s name).

@Lando_
Not by any means an exhaustive list. Check out the one on PSN profiles if you are interested. But best not to derail this topic with another censorship debate. Suffice it to say, doing a count will show that the vast majority of censorship is of the female body and, obviously, with adults (given that the type of content you are alluding to has forever been illegal in most countries and certainly not passed for sale by the platforms).

Re: Baiken Brings Her Blade to Guilty Gear Strive on 28th January

@AdamNovice
Lol, no.
I mean they did (depending on what country you are in some girls might have been considered underage) but that is the tip of the iceberg in terms of censorship. Barely worth mentioning. The vast bulk has nothing to do with anyone being underage.

Easy enough to research if you actually care about the truth of your comment. There are literally lists and lists online of games censored by Sony that were allowed through unmolested even by Nintendo on the switch, and these with fully grown women.

Re: Poll: Does Sony Need to Take Action After Microsoft's Activision Buyout?

thefourfoldroot

If i was Sony I wouldn’t make any big buys. What I would do is set up multiple other devs, each dedicated to a specific genre, then hire people from all the devs MS bought, offering a great salary and complete creative freedom (something MS will not offer given what they have paid for IPs).
Sony need to replace the Bethesda games lost and now COD with new IPs, but it is the developers themselves who have the talent, and whilst the companies can be bought out, the devs are free to go to those offering the best opportunities.
Sony should seek to systematically gut these dev teams MS have acquired. I mean, given what we have heard about the company culture at some of these places, it shouldn’t be impossible.

Did anyone else have to answer 20 questions (literally) about a mouse in a maze before they could check? That got tiresome!

1516 hrs with 1% being online (likely the smallest percentage they can do as it said 4 hours). 266 days played

Top 5 games are all Yakuza/Judgment (likely the top 9 if it went that far). Longest was Yakuza 5 at 255hrs.

32 games played with 17 platinum trophies(9 Yakuza/Judgment plats really took my numbers down, but so fun).
