You may remember Sea of Remnants from a State of Play last year; it was one of the more intriguing games announced during the show.
Coming from NetEase and Joker Studio, Sea of Remnants is a free-to-play pirate RPG adventure set in a stylised world inhabited by wooden puppets.
Its latest trailer is here, and the game continues to look crazy ambitious and super stylish:
It's difficult to explain the game in a nutshell. There's a hub pirate town called Orbtopia that you're free to explore, and it contains all sorts of minigames and activities, like mahjong and drinking games.

However, there's also real-time nautical battles in which you use your ship's firepower to fend off rival vessels and sea monsters.
On top of that, we also know the game features turn-based battles while on-foot, and you'll need to assemble a crew that'll join you in fights and as you sail the seas.
If you're curious to see how this all plays out moment to moment (we certainly are), a closed alpha test is being held next month, though sadly only on PC via Steam.
Running from 5th to 12th February, you have from now until 23rd January to register your interest. You can do so by engaging with the game's social channels, or by joining the Discord and answering a questionnaire.
Are you interested in Sea of Remnants? Will you try to join the closed alpha? Tell us in the comments section below.

The music and character design had me annoyed very quickly. More gotcha I assume.
Looks terrible
After LAD: Pirate Hawaii and watching the live action One Piece last month I'm too pirated out for this. It got so bad I nearly bought a pirate hat and was going to wander around my town wearing it with a bottle of Captain Morgan. Instead just went with the rummage!
I'm extremely hyped to try it out!
The unique presentation helps everything a ton! If you haven't looked into any coverage of the turn based stuff yet, I'd HIGHLY suggest it. Looks like a lot of interesting mechanics at play and it genuinely has enough style going on to give Atlus a run for their money.
Wow there's A LOT going on in that trailer. At first it just looked like some made in Dreams nonsense, not a big fan of the drinking mini games, but then it turned into so much more. Wouldn't even guess it's free to start, looks like a full blow JRPG adventure, but I guess since Genshin Impact anything is possible.
Not a PC gamer but will certainly try it out on console. I stopped playing Fortnite a few weeks ago so I have some free time.
