In the early-ish 2000s, dreams were made of this: Metal Gear Solid’s Solid Snake teaming up with Splinter Cell’s Sam Fisher. We’re sure you can find many a fan fiction written on archived GeoCities webpages.
And now it’s a reality, courtesy of Ubisoft’s live service shooter Rainbow Six Siege, where the iconic super-agent will be joining as a permanent operator.
Operation Silent Hunt, the long-running outing’s next major update, will run from 3rd March, and will add additional Metal Gear Solid cosmetics, as well as a new gameplay mode involving the aforementioned Sam Fisher.
Solid Snake’s unique abilities include his Soliton Radar MK3, enabling him to see the floorplan of his immediate surroundings and even observe the vision cone of his enemies.
While he starts each round with fewer secondary gadgets than his rivals, he can use On-Site Procurement to expand his arsenal of gear throughout each match, enabling him to strategically adapt to the requirements of the round.
And yes, he’s armed with a silenced pistol, in addition to a couple of different rifles.

As mentioned previously, a new 4v4 mode named [Redacted] will see Solid Snake teaming up with Sam Fisher in a modified version of the Nighthaven Labs map, modified here to reflect the environments of the Metal Gear Solid games. Playing this mode will enable you to unlock fresh outfits inspired by Meryl and Jackal as well.
So, even if you’re a Rainbow Six Siege newbie, there’s probably never been a better reason to give the game a go. Will you be suiting up and infiltrating this season? Let us know below.
