Re: Silent Hill, Slitterhead Creator Begins Work on Another 'Original' Game

After buying the game at launch to support the developer, I am finally getting a chance to play it, and about halfway through. It was a little slow to start, especially since the game does have some of that low-budget jank to it, but honestly, I am really enjoying it. It is a very creative, weird game with fun combat, an interesting premise, and best of all somehow scratches that Killer7 itch that has been left completely unscratched since that game came out many years ago—must be the combination of horror-violence, humor, and psychedelic visuals. Excited to hear that Bokeh is keeping the band together, and can’t wait to see what they come up with next!

@Pigrotto Hell is Us is phenomenal. I really hope we get some sort of a sequel, even if it’s only a spiritual successor. Amazing story, art design, music, combat, monsters, just the whole package.

Finished Hell is Us a few weeks ago. Now it’s the backlog for me: DOOM: Dark Ages and Slitterhead. Mix that up with some Kirby Air Riders. Trying to wait on Requiem and save some money, but it is proving challenging… 😬

If this game had been a single player campaign, with an extraction multiplayer mode, I feel like they would have had a massive hit on their hands. I love the art style and the dark sci-fi lore is definitely intriguing. Game feels good to play as well. But man, I just have no interest in playing with a bunch of people online and getting smoked in a multiplayer mode over and over again against people that play the game for six hours a day…

Re: Rumour: PS Portal OLED Version Coming This Year

I would love an OLED portal. I play a lot of dark (literally) games, and the way blacks get washed out into grays makes it both hard to read whats going on and also look kind of rough. I have this same problem on the Switch 2, which is why I avoid playing dark games in handheld. So I would definitely jump on an OLED Portal, and just sell my old one (which is in great shape).

Counterpoint: I’ve had great experiences with TCL TV’s, which have been affordable and issue-free. Maybe I’m an outlier? Bought one years ago that we still use, got one for a family member which they still use, and was hand-me-downed a QLED one which looks phenomenal. I’ve since moved on to a LG OLED, but these TV’s all work great. So… not the end of the world?

Re: Game of the Year: Best PS5 Developer of 2025

Had to vote Neobards. Silent Hill f is my game of the year (on PS5 at least), and I really appreciate what the studio accomplished. A lot was riding on this game too, for them and the franchise, and I think they knocked it out of the park by taking Silent Hill in a unique and exciting direction. Shout out to Kojima too!

Re: Silent Hill Producer Aims to Release One New Game Per Year

@undeadly Gotta jump in to balance the negativity for Silent Hill f. I’ve been a fan of this series since the original came out, and I absolutely love SHf. It’s a fresh, unique take, and doesn’t rehash the same thing we’ve already seen. The story hits hard on an emotional level, and twists the series to fit Japanese culture and mythology. It’s challenging, grotesque, and beautifully written. So, to summarize, folks are certainly entitled to their negative opinions, but positive take, Silent Hill f is amazing.

Re: Game of the Year: Best PS5 Art Direction of 2025

Clair Obscur, definitely. Death Stranding 2, for sure. But for me, Silent Hill f is the winner. The art direction is just phenomenal; creepy, beautiful, creative, and celebratory of Japanese myth and culture. Amazing game, amazing art direction.

Something about this game feels off. I’m somewhere between the hardcore and casual crowd; played all the fighting games back in the day, but have fallen off in the last decade or so, with GG Strive and Mortal Kombat being the exceptions. Tried the second beta, and just wasn’t having fun. Should have stuck with it longer, but time is limited and I wasn’t feeling it. It’s somehow simultaneously too simple but also too overwhelming; really didn’t like the controls. Meh.
