Sony has confirmed a PS5 Pro firmware update that goes live today will implement the anticipated PSSR upgrade to the machine.
Owners of the PS5 Pro have been able to sample the improvement in Resident Evil Requiem for a few weeks now, but once the firmware update has been applied, the following will also sport enhancements:
- Silent Hill 2
- Silent Hill F
- Dragon Age: The Veilguard
- Alan Wake 2
- Control
- Senua's Saga: Hellblade II
- Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth
- Nioh 3
- Rise of the Ronin
- Monster Hunter Wilds
- Dragon's Dogma 2
The firmware update on PS5 Pro will rollout in a phased release, starting today from 10pm PT / 5am GMT (tomorrow). Everyone should receive the update within the coming days.
While the list of PS5 games above offers official support for the upgraded feature, Sony clarifies that all PS5 titles with some level of support for PSSR should benefit from the improvement. "While results may vary by title, many games may see improvements in clarity and image stability. If it results in any unexpected visual effects, you can turn it off at any time."
From now on, most new titles that support PS5 Pro features should come with enhanced PSSR capabilities, with this week's Crimson Desert being one example. In terms of further additions, Sony highlights Assassin's Creed Shadows and Cyberpunk 2077 as two current titles that'll be upgraded in the near future.

Was wondering about what I should play next. I guess it's time for some replays.
time to see this in action
Nioh 3, Nice! The resolution was a bit fuzzy at times in Performance mode, so very glad to see this on the list.
Happy PS5 Pro day folks!
FF16 needs this extremely badly. Doubtful SquareEnix’s incompetent management will make the effort though if they haven’t touched it by now.
Oh yes ❤️❤️❤️
What a fantastic surprise.
I'm looking forward to see the analysis by Digital Foundry. Based on the results in Resident Evil Requiem PSSR2 looks pretty decent.
EDIT: It's already available: https://youtu.be/U2j7ij9ZPDk
Day one Pro purchase over here - great to see 🎉🎉🎉
Silent Hill 2 and AW2 devs have promised to fix their problematic PS5 Pro implementation for ages, will this PSSR2 upgrade mean those 'shimmering' visual issues just go away or do we still have to wait for additional dev patches?
Cyberpunk getting upgraded is a lovely surprise.
Nioh 3. N.i.c.e. Word up son
Cyberpunk is my biggest surprise of all, cannot wait to see that in PSSR 2.0 glory.
I'm going to boot up ff7 rebirth to see if it's even more improved. I've wanted to replay if again, seems like the perfect time.
Looks like it's about time to go back for that Silent Hill F Platinum.
I have Rise of the Ronin in the backlog.
I'll test out Control to see if it maintains a steady 60fps with ray tracing on.
Let's see if Silent Hill 2 looks any better on Pro.
I put my Rebirth playthrough on pause in anticipation for that June update.
Hopefully they will vastly improve the cyberpunk graphical settings on pro due to all the headroom freeing up
Very cool. I hope this gets added to FFXIV at some point. The upscaling on that game is so messy.
Just sold on my base PS5 and managed to get a Pro over the weekend, so im excited to see the updates especially on my Requiem replay!
As soon as I saw DF released their weekly direct yesterday rather than today, I knew there was gonna be something big today!!!
I thought every PSSR game could use the updated version
@G4n0nD0rf It can. But some games have developer specific patches.
My body is ready!!
Silent Hill F is next on my list, so this works out well
Hell yeah! I’m so happy about this!
Full steam ahead!
Nioh 3!! Yeees!!! Now I'm hyped.
Yes to both Silent Hills! I was going to buy them on Steam because of problems with PSSR but if this improves them definetely play them on PS5! Hope MGS3r gets the same treatment.
I was also planning for both Remedy games' DLCs before Resonant and that is great too!
Happ PS5 Pro Day indeed!
Gonna see what Alan Wake 2 looks like first.
Is this a definitive list?.. ithough a lot more games had PSSR support?
I've no interest in buying a Pro (in part because I don't want to play the fan lottery - my 11xx "amateur" console is as quiet as anything and that relative silence is more important to me than more shinies), but will watch DF's inevitable marathon with great interest.
Edit - seems Digital Foundry were privvy to a preview of it, and have a "before and after" look at four games up already.
@Flobbots These are the games that developers have specifically patched in PSSR2 and optimised for it Day 1. Many other games will be patched later by devs later.
But there will also be a system level toggle to upgrade all the games using PSSR1. We haven't seen how that automated version works yet but Digital Foundry are on the case.
I'll head back into silent hill now , i might even give rise of the ronin another go as well,as it may actually look like its 720p
Looks like they’re rolling it out over the course of the day (NA). Hopefully we can all give it a go by the end of the day!
I can't imagine spending around $800 so that 11 games I might have already owned and played look marginally better.
@B_Lindz every unpatched game ran better because of the increased headroom. Every first party title looked and ran better. Many 3rd party titles were so much better.
It’s clearly more than just 11 titles we’re talking about here. It remains to be seen if PSSR 2 fixes PSSR 1 issues on games but we’ll see.
How long is the rollout going to take? I doubt I will get it before next week..
Really excited about this. There’s six on that short list that are in my backlog (one I’m currently playing). But even beyond that, I’m looking forward to see other games enhancements.
Anyone got the update and tried Silent Hill 2 yet?
@Weebleman the blog says it rolls out at 10pm Pacific time or 5am in the morning UK time, so nobody will have it yet
@carlos82 excellent point, well made. Despite reading it, i completely ignored that vital point.
@AlanWoke it was stated these have implemented today, so it should remove the shimmering
#everyone, each game will need an individual patch for the pssr 2.0 to work
@BloodyBlact no they don't, if a game already has PSSR, a system level toggle will allow you to swap it out
It’s just incredible to see how ML software is tackling so many things in gaming graphics, where even consoles are able to play these modern high fidelity games with ray tracing at 60fps and with an image quality that basically looks native 4K, pretty amazing. From someone who’s been following graphics tech since the Nvidia Geforce era, i’m loving all the progress
@carlos82 thats not what i have been reading, games on list above will have a day 1 patch to work with pssr 2.0
Did you get the software update already by any chance? Nothing for me (ireland)
@BloodyBlact yeah I think those games have a patch but there will be a system wide toggle as well. The blog says the update goes live at 10pm PT, which will be 5am in the morning for us
@Weebleman currently downloading just to try it already got the platinum 😁
@Balaam_ idk if you got another response but im pretty sure pssr 2.0 improves every game , certain games can patch upgrades beyond what it naturally does though
@B_Lindz i would think most of the new games coming out will support it , but it sounds like it should help more then just the games on the list.
Nothing here in germany for now
Cool just turned my pro on excitedly to update but didn’t realise it likely won’t arrive until the morning in the uk. Nevermind just one more day to wait!
Rebirth will be my first port of call seeing as I wanted to go back and mop up some side stuff I missed the first time around.
@AgentGuapo I know, right? Every PSSR game is gonna support this via the firmware toggle - I'm amazed at the amount of people who still seem to think every game has to be patched by the devs to support this.
