Those Mario movies are not designed for critics and I promise you, Nintendo could not possibly care less about its reviews. Did they make bucket loads ofmoney? Yes? Mission accomplished!
Hilarious! They’ve done so well on PlayStation. I predict they continue with multiplatform, but who knows what’s going to happen in this crazy, crazy world these days…
I’m not 100% sold on the art style, but they’ve clearly only shown off a small bit of the game. We all know the gameplay is going to be top-shelf; Castlevania is in good hands, there. I’m definitely excited!
Still wanting to pick this up at some point, enjoyed the demo. One more sale obviously wouldn’t have moved the needle, but dang, small games just can’t catch a break these days…
After finishing Requiem (amazing game), I’ve jumped into Control Ultimate Edition on my Pro. It’s a much improved experience compared to when I played it on PS4 years ago (although I still loved it). I should probably get into Returnal though, in preparation for Saros; gotta start flexing those Housemarque muscles again!
@Scottyy Interesting take! I have to disagree with everything you said, minus the somewhat mediocre ending. I thought the first game was an absolute slog, despite having a great story, but loved everything about part 2. So interesting how people can have such wildy different takes, but that’s art!
I only ever played Lost Legacy, but really enjoyed it. Eventually I’ll try the other games… Having said that, I’m way more interested in a Last of Us 3… After Intergalactic, of course!
After having just completed the game, I gotta disagree with Liam about the playtime split. First half is clearly all about Grace, with short stints as Leon to break it up. I was able to really take my time here, and Grace’s section is just brilliant. Second half is clearly about Leon, but we still get a solid, albeit shorter section with Grace to break that up. I was worried I’d enjoy the action bits with Leon less, because the survival part is my jam, but still some great exploration, and loved the ruined Raccoon City. Gameplay in Requiem is just A++ Gotta agree about the story payoff though, it’s not great, but.. you know… it’s Resident Evil, so… yeah. But hey, Victor Gideon is a great villain at least!
9/10
Really cool how they’re making the game so flexible, with options to make it easier, but also options to make it harder. Saros is going to be a smash hit!
@Netbean I’m quite sure this is part of it. There are so many great games I would have played but instead skipped because of the overpriced subscription needed to play these games online. Diablo IV, Helldivers, Arc Raiders, and now Marathon. Yay, capitalism…
Wasn’t the reboot basically Final Fantasy XVI? With its action combat?
Didn’t quite work out…
Should we brace ourselves for a Final Fantasy extraction shooter?
If I didn’t have to pay for stupid PS Plus I would absolutely get this game. Enjoyed the server slam, and could tell there was something special there if you dug in and got good. Such a bummer we have to pay to play online…
I don’t get all the backlash—this looks like a generational leap, in terms of moving video games forward as an artistic medium with more realistic human features, which will help developers and storytellers create more compelling characters and stories. People just looking for stuff to get mad about…
After buying the game at launch to support the developer, I am finally getting a chance to play it, and about halfway through. It was a little slow to start, especially since the game does have some of that low-budget jank to it, but honestly, I am really enjoying it. It is a very creative, weird game with fun combat, an interesting premise, and best of all somehow scratches that Killer7 itch that has been left completely unscratched since that game came out many years ago—must be the combination of horror-violence, humor, and psychedelic visuals. Excited to hear that Bokeh is keeping the band together, and can’t wait to see what they come up with next!
The Silent Hill 2 remake is just incredible. I’ve played all these games, and man, the remake still hit me so hard. Tragic, disturbing, and weirdly beautiful. Can’t wait to play Bloober’s remake of 1.
@Pigrotto Dark Ages is a lot of fun. The movement and combat feels fantastic, very weighty. I was not a fan of Eternal at all, so Dark Ages is exactly what I was hoping for.
@Pigrotto Hell is Us is phenomenal. I really hope we get some sort of a sequel, even if it’s only a spiritual successor. Amazing story, art design, music, combat, monsters, just the whole package.
Finished Hell is Us a few weeks ago. Now it’s the backlog for me: DOOM: Dark Ages and Slitterhead. Mix that up with some Kirby Air Riders. Trying to wait on Requiem and save some money, but it is proving challenging… 😬
If this game had been a single player campaign, with an extraction multiplayer mode, I feel like they would have had a massive hit on their hands. I love the art style and the dark sci-fi lore is definitely intriguing. Game feels good to play as well. But man, I just have no interest in playing with a bunch of people online and getting smoked in a multiplayer mode over and over again against people that play the game for six hours a day…
I bought the new Doom game for $24 and that is the most I’ve spent on a digital game in absolute ages, and only because their physical didn’t even have the damn game on the disc…
