Over five million people have played Silent Hill 2 when you combine sales and subscription service downloads, Konami today announced.
Across its original release platforms, the PS5 and PC, and the Xbox Series X|S port that came out later, the total reflects "digital and physical sales, store downloads and subscription services".
The previous sales update from Konami revealed Silent Hill 2 had sold 2.5 million copies in October 2025, suggesting that roughly half of the remake's players have come from subscription services. In terms of those memberships, the game is currently only available on PS Plus Extra.
While Konami always had plans to bring the series back in a big way, Silent Hill 2 helped spark the resurgence that has led to Silent Hill F launching to positive feedback last year, and Silent Hill: Townfall arriving at some point in 2026. The developer of the Silent Hill 2 remake, Bloober Team, is also bringing back the original Silent Hill from the PS1 in a full remake.
In our Silent Hill 2 PS5 review, we awarded a 9/10 rating and concluded: "So much of what made the Konami classic a masterpiece in 2001 remains in this PS5 remake 23 years later, with the same unforgettable story, satisfying exploration, and weighty combat." Anyone looking to go back to the release can also complement their playthrough with our Silent Hill 2 guide.

Great game , i stopped playing it as im waiting for pssr2, the graphics are a million times better than the new film, anybody seen it ? It's got sfx that make sharknado look good, i remember Christopher gans film brotherhood of the wolf ,fantastic film , what happened Chris
Fully deserved! This is up there as one of the best remakes ever in my humble opinion, I have complete faith in Bloober delivering the goods with SIlent Hill 1 remake.
I beat the og last year. Planning to check this out sometime.
Once upon a time there was a not so silent hill,
Which attracted a lot of people, precisely five mill.
@Czar_Khastik I like to use the COD4 meme instead "5 million people used to live here... now it's Silent hill"
One of the best games this generation!!
its awesome to see not only resident evil thrive in 2026 but silent hill as well. i'm waiting on pssr 2.0 to see how it fixes up the issues ( not that i ever really cared about the issues in the first place) , but i'm excited for them to show off the remake of part 1. hopefully if all goes well , they've already started on remaking part 3.
@lazarus11 I loved brotherhood of the wolf. Great film. Will rewatch soon.
It's such a good game. Loved my time with it. Aiming for a replay soon, once the PSSR 2.0 update is fully out.
Grest game fully deserved i dont think theres many remakes left now to make silent hill 1 is being remade i think they should concentrate on new games now but before they do please remake dino crisis and residebt evil code veronica which ive hesrd rumours it is
I didn't like what I tried. It was quite boring gameplay. I played maybe 3 hours or something. Solving a jukebox puzzle sending me to another part of town? Can somebody tell me if the game becomes better?
The Silent Hill 2 remake is just incredible. I’ve played all these games, and man, the remake still hit me so hard. Tragic, disturbing, and weirdly beautiful. Can’t wait to play Bloober’s remake of 1.
Excellent game - good adaptation of the original.
As much as I liked it, I do wish that Capcom licensed out its RE Engine for games like this. Would have loved to see SH in REE.
This is great news! I've been in love with the original for decades. The remake, with pulse headphones, was ***** awesome. So pumped for SH1 remake.
I like it but with comparison with sh f falls short that game is a masterpiece probably I'm bias because I love ryushiki Higurashi and the setting was perfect
I hope they make on with the South Korea setting with crazy ass rituals and folclore from there
@Yor-sama
Just Yes/No please. For Silent Hill f, knowing She is forced to marry is a big spoiler or no?
Could have been a 10/10 for me.
But I tend to agree with Jim Sterling's take about the excessive combat. Far far far too many enemies ruined it for me. Over exposure ceases to be scary and just becomes annoying.
I'd also have trimmed a few sections that I felt added nothing other than filler.
I reckon it needed 5 hours trimming, making replaying for all the different endings a bit more viable.
Iam glad to have beaten the game twice so far .
It was a lot of fun btw .
I enjoyed the first half of the game or so.
Enjoyed the vibe.
But that gameplay loop is stale.
It’s the exact same thing area after area after area.
It should be 50 million. An incredible game with the best story in gaming imo
