Slitterhead PS5

Slitterhead developer Bokeh Game Studio is now in the early stages of its second game, a Japanese recruitment page has revealed.

Led by Keiichiro Toyama, who is credited as the creator of Silent Hill and the 2024 horror title Slitterhead, Bokeh Game Studio has begun work on its next project, and is now advertising for roles to help expand the 35-person developer.

At its core, the studio wishes to create something original. "We don't make things that anyone else could make," is the studio's recruitment pitch. "This doesn't mean trying to be eccentric, but rather it's an attitude of never abandoning the question 'Why are we making this?' or 'Why are we making it?' and continuing to search for expressions that only we can arrive at."

Bokeh Game Studio wants to work with people who have the drive to "still make something interesting" and to challenge themselves creatively.

It doesn't sound like the developer's second project is very far along, as the recruitment page warns many ideas could be thrown out as it goes through a period of trial and error. "However, this means we'll be deeply involved in the core of the work, and our own choices and struggles will directly shape the game."

The new project doesn't appear to be a Slitterhead sequel, as per comments Toyama made last year. No matter what, though, Bokeh Game Studio wants to remain "original" in its craft.

We enjoyed Slitterhead when it launched, awarding it a 7/10 rating. "Serving as a spiritual successor to fan favourites like Siren, Gravity Rush, and Soul Sacrifice, this haunting tale about a body-hopping spirit – who uses humans as fodder to put a stop to the eponymous enemy – is a scintillating albeit occasionally undercooked debut from Bokeh Game Studios," we concluded.
