A light ribbing about the new God of War game from the Domino’s Pizza account has triggered a small social media spat between Sony and the fast food firm.
In response to footage of new title God of War Laufey, the UK arm of the pizza chain – searching for engagement now the Premier League season is over – said: “God of War game with no Kratos = Pepperoni Passion with no pepperoni.”
The post went viral and attracted over 70k likes, but Santa Monica Studio was having none of it. It bit back: “Okay thanks for the feedback, Domino’s Pizza corporate account.” The reply ratioed the original post, attracting over 105k likes at the time of writing, and rising fast.

I must admit, I was surprised to see the God of War maker give this any energy, as Sony’s studios are usually very buttoned up on social media.
But I think tensions may have been running high, as God of War Laufey has been subject to the usual social media grifting you see with any big game announcement these days.
To be honest, I don’t think Domino’s Pizza was trying to start any real beef here, it just saw an opportunity and seized on it. And whoever is running that account got a big win here, because this entire exchange is now approaching five million views.
Sony’s since said that Kratos will return in future God of War games, so this all seems a bit unnecessary in hindsight. It’s perhaps another reminder that social media isn’t the fun place it used to be, however.
