EA and PopCap Games are bringing back the original Plants vs. Zombies game for a PS5 remaster releasing in the next couple of months, a new leak and report strongly suggest.
Overnight, files for a Plants vs. Zombies project were discovered on the Chinese version of an EA website. A key art was discovered amongst them, and this lined up with an age rating leak from earlier this year. Now, this morning, the reliable Dealabs leaker Billbil-Kun has published a full report on the suggested remaster.
According to them, the project is named Plants vs. Zombies Replanted, and releases for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC on 23rd October 2025. The leaker claims it'll cost €19.99, which should translate slightly cheaper in the UK and USA.
They say an official announcement will take place within the next month. Gamescom takes place in August, so Geoff Keighley might have bagged the reveal, or there are rumours of a Nintendo Direct taking place next week. Both seem like realistic places to confirm such a project.

Is this Garden Warfare or the original strategy game? Neighborville was such a disappointment and the OG has been regurgitated too many times.. I’m on board and can get hyped for GW2 remastered (better yet GW3).. other than that.. meh
I can’t imagine playing this with a controller.
@TheKramer89 It's okay you know. I played this game on PlayStation and had a lot of fun.
The original game would be great to see again or indeed a redone version of the classic strategy title.
I was disappointed to see it become Garden Warfare and didnt enjoy those derrivitive games at all, so this is good news on an otherwise disappointing morning.
If this is about the original, then count me in. I really don't care about the Garden Warfare etc, but the original is super fun.
Not needed at all, but not as unneeded as all the Sony remasters. 🤣
Wish there was a PC version of PvZ 2 without the BS Micro Transactions.
Not needed at all, but not as unneeded as Microsofts remaster of a remake.
Would be much cooler if it was a version of PVZ2 and 3 that stripped out all of the micro transaction junk - those are still stranded on mobile IIRC, while PVZ1 is already available on so many platforms. Of course, it's always good to see more PVZ in any form, so I'm not that unhappy
EA would probably want to monetize everything separately, but charge $30 or $40, put PvZ 1,2 (without the freemium stuff) and the Garden Warfares in one package
I imagine it will be a Tower Defence game, which is fine, although it will need to improve a lot from the 2009/10 original for 20 quid, especially with recent years giving us some decent IP in this genre.
Spent 100+ hours getting all the Steam achievements for this last year. Shame how it never got a proper sequel.
I would love this if true, but I worry EA will **** it up.
As long as EA doesn’t turn this into a microtransaction showcase, I’m down for this. Hated the spin-offs, but loved the original game
Wait for the inevitable Switch 2 release with mouse controls on this one methinks.
The first PvZ is a great game, but I'll wait to see what justifies the price tag. If it's just an up-rezzed version of the game I've already played on my iPhone and Vita, then I'll wait for a sale.
@TheKramer89 same. I've played a lot of PvZ, but only ever with a mouse or touch screen. I feel like some of the later levels would be a pain to play with a controller.
I'd pay like $10 for a slice of nostalgia.
@WolfyTn read the first and second sentence of the article 👍🏻
The news keeps on trickling so I hope it's true in the end, can't wait as I've played it so many times including the DS version which was my preferred way to play, it's a shame P-VS zombies one and two will not be included although 3 is slop compared to the first two.
@FR4M3 there is an android mod that removes all of that but like you said, not available on pc.
@Jacko11 yeah I got excited lol I’m a *****
Oh that's cool. Every once in a while I get a craving to play it (it's addicting!) and I was always sad I missed out on the Vita version (was it on PS3 also?). So that's really cool if true.
I am happy for this but i wont pay 20 for this, 10 bucks maximum.
@Veritas7Ax yeah, but the framerate was so bad on the ps3 I could never get the platinum cuz by the end, it had to skip so many frames to run the game.
lol
