id Software 35 DOOM

2026 marks the 35th (!) anniversary of storied developer id Software, and it sounds like the studio's got something up its sleeve for the year ahead.

In a celebratory video posted to the company's social media accounts, studio director Marty Stratton and game director Hugo Martin acknowledge all of the support that id's received over its many years, addressing the "best fans in the world".

"We couldn't do it without you guys, and we've got much more in store — so stay tuned," Martin comments.

Stratton also says that the developer will be celebrating its anniversary "throughout the year", so we wouldn't be surprised to see things like big discounts on existing games, and maybe some behind-the-scenes insight into the studio itself.

But can we expect something bigger? Well, id Software will almost certainly be working on its next game at this point, having released DOOM: The Dark Ages back in May of last year.

A full announcement of whatever that ends up being seems rather unlikely, but we wouldn't rule out potential remasters or re-releases of older titles. After all, the team's got a lot of history to draw from.
