Re: Hands On: Assassin's Creed Unity's PS5 Update Has Made Us Rethink That 5/10 Review

charbtronic

Coming from someone who's only played AC 1 and the 2 trilogy, I've given the newer AC formula games a try and just could not get into them. They're just too big with too many distractions.

I'm definitely interested in playing this if it's finally fixed, and if they do the same to Syndicate and other older titles, I may find myself playing AC again. Mirage worth playing as an OG AC fan?

Re: 'Sony Finally Understands': Over 70% of PS5 Fans Agree with Decision to Scrap PC Ports

Now I never thought how Sony was releasing games on PC hurt the PlayStation brand. The games always came out a year or so later. Most of the time the games were free on PS+ for subscribers on console, so there couldn't have been many people who were holding out and only buying on PC as PS owners. Now was the cost of porting worth the return, clearly not.

With the PS Handheld coming, would they want to scale back so their exclusives are only available on their portable and not SteamDeck and other PC handhelds? Maybe?

I'd be curious how much of those sales were from people who bought the game on both PS and PC. I'll admit, I picked up all the PS4 games that came to PC because it was such a upgrade and a great way to replay them, but now the gap isn't as big between PS5Pro and PC (or at least my rig)

Re: PS6 Competitor from Xbox Revealed as Project Helix

Trying to look at this device through a "casual gamer" lense and I don't understand who would jump on this. I think more and more gamers are moving to PS5 and even if this is better than pro, when Sony releases the 6 it will likely be cheaper than this at launch and higher spec'd with a greater offering of games.

If Xbox is announcing this now maybe they're hoping to market it as the best console to play GTA6, but PS5 might still be a better investment in 2026 to play that.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 621

Finishing up my first ever playthrough of BotW. It finally stuck with me this time around. Still unsure what to play after though. Might play a smaller indie game or two before finally starting up yotei or keep chipping away at the backlog.

I've also been playing LeafGreen before bed which has been pretty comforting, even though I'm not the biggest Pokemon fan, but I do have some nostalgia for the first couple gens.

Re: Poll: How Would You Rate State of Play for February 2026?

charbtronic

I thought it was a solid showcase. Kena sequel was a nice start before giving us updates on games we've been hearing about non-stop for the last 6 months (Capcom and Yotei Legends). DS2 PC release, whatever. Some underwhelming announcments. Control 2, while cool, skeptical about performance. People forget how Control 1 was a mess at launch. Almost unplayable. The steroid chicken game I don't understand what the gameplay experience is supposed to be. Is it like dynasty warriors? Galactic Racer looks better than GA reveal. Konami showcase was a big deal. More Castlevania games coming? Gameplay of the GoW trilogy would have really put this over the top. What kind of remake are we getting? They reworking it to be like 2018 GoW? Son of Sparta is not the 2D GoW I was expecting.

Re: Fable Announced for PS5, Releases in Autumn 2026

More extensive gameplay showcase would have been better to see for a game that has been in development for this long. Quick clips make me nervous compared to us seeing 10 mins of continuous gameplay.

Shocked they couldn't put together a vertical slice for this showcase.

Re: Poll: Vote for Your PS5 Game of the Month (December 2025)

charbtronic

I was originally interested in Octopath Traveler 0 until I learned it's the mobile game + content. Some reviews I saw said that visually it's a step back from OT2 since it's a "cheap" or "quick" port of that engine, which is disappointing. I just finished playing DQ1-2 and I imagine it would really not look that great comparatively.

Re: Poll: How Would You Rate The Game Awards 2025?

charbtronic

Anychance of any backdoor deals going on with all the Kepler game announcements because E33 was winning all the awards?

Now we all should know everyone knows what they're winning beforehand right? It's obvious now more than before. If not they would have announced the E33 DLC during the first acceptance speech not knowing if they were going to get another chance.

And Jeff was right, it was tough to top the new KOTOR announcement at the start of the show.

Re: Game of the Month: Dispatch (November 2025)

charbtronic

Finished Dispatch last night and as someone who enjoyed Tales from the Borderlands and Wolf Among Us it was a great next step in that genre. I was totally fine with it being less gamey and more cinematic. Production value is very high comparatively because of it. I never replayed the Telltale games to test other outcomes, but I can see myself coming back to Dispatch in a couple months. It's like binging a season of your favorite TV show.

Re: Chrono Trigger Revival Hopes Have Been Reignited Yet Again

With the Toriyama art, it would look great with the DQ7 treatment. The world and characters would pop in that remake style. This is the way.

It would be different enough where it can be it's own thing while being true to the original. A HD-2D style is too close to looking like the original, which still looks amazing.

Re: Poll: Does the Steam Machine Pose a Threat to PS5?

charbtronic

If priced right, seems like a great emulation machine. With my steamdeck running emulation station and throw in retro achievements, I have so much fun going back playing old games. Now if I can hot swap that microSD card back and forth between my deck and the steam machine this device has my attention.
