Re: Final Fantasy VII Rebirth (PS5) - Strong Sequel Seeks a New Direction

My expectations were so low for Remake because it was hard to imagine Square pulling it off taking into account their large titles leading up to release. They pulled it off.

For Rebirth, I expected more of the same of what Remake did, which sounds like it is. I'm not here for a groundbreaking, genre defining, game of the year title.

I want a solid gaming experience with the characters I know and love, that soundtrack, those big story moments, and continue to expand on the foundation FF7 left. Day 1 for me.

I'm hoping this isn't too on the nose with referencing JRPGs of the era it's influenced by. I started Chained Echoes, and while I was enjoying the gameplay, the game straight copied some set pieces and had too many wink/nod moments to CT for my liking. Locations that looked like Magus' Castle Boss Fight or Zenan Bridge. Just give me something original and new to experience.

Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give God of War Ragnarok?

Tough to give a game a 10 when it is just a better version of GoW (2018). It didn't redo GoW like 2018's did. Same gameplay and then some in the sequel. More world building, more story, but it doesn't reinvent the wheel like the previous. The jump between the two isn't far enough apart for me to put one over the other.

GoW 2018 - 10/10
GoW Ragnarok - 9.5/10

Re: The Wolf Among Us 2 Shows Its Fangs on PS5, PS4 in 2023

I hope they rebuilt or improved on that game engine. I played a handful of the telltale games on ps4/pro and I had game crashes often. Which for a primarily cinematic, laid back, passive game was strange.

The Wolf Among Us and Tales from the Borderlands were easily the best two though. I would definitely consider getting this right away if they are done with episodic releases.

Re: Crysis Remastered Patch Upgrades Performance on PS5

@iamtylerdurden1 Well think about this for a second. My gaming setup is in my office. I have a dual monitor setup that I use for work and play (1440p 144hz). Multiple consoles running through a 4k hdmi kvm to one of those monitors (PS3, Switch, Super NT). The other HDMI port for the monitor would/should be my PS5, but it's still my PS4. Not ideal.

Due to wife and kids, I don't keep my gaming consoles in the family room with the big fancy 4k tv since they are using it most of the time.

So yes my setup is not like everyone else, but if I can use a 1080p display, and a 2160p display, why not a 1440p display. I don't care about running high refresh rates, just let me use it. It should be able to scale. So in the meantime my PS5 is still in the box.

Re: Talking Point: Would You Buy a PS1, PS2, or PS3 Emulator for PS5?

There are obviously a fair share of games from the PS1/PS2 era that don't age well, but for those that did, I would like a way to play them. As someone with a respectable retro collection, disc based games are tough to find in good playable condition. Many PS1 games have the potential to be lost if they are not brought back. Having a vita/ps3 has been great in this case (hacked or not). Being able to play Suikoden 2 and many others on these platforms keep them alive. The lack of these vast libraries on PS4, PS5, and PS Now is inexcusable.

The PS2 games that came to PS4 were great! I played Rogue Galaxy and the Jak series for the first time. Trophy support was an awesome addition as well.
