Re: Poll: How Long Does It Take You to Beat a Big RPG?

charbtronic

I think there's a time and a place for all lengths of games. I sometimes like getting my RPG fill in a 30-40 hour game. Sometimes I'm up for pouring 100+ into one.

I'm currently staying away from Metaphor because I'm aware how long of a game it will be. So I've been playing some shorter games from my backlog I've been wanting to get around to first before diving in. It's all about the mood I'm in.

My life doesn't revolve around the games I play. It's a hobby. I fit in games when I can, and sometimes I'm more into watching movies or TV for a few weeks instead of gaming. I also live where you have four traditional seasons. In the cold snowy winter months, I tend to game more, but when spring and summer arrive, I have outdoor hobbies I'd rather do.

Re: Spider-Man 2's Looking Like Another PC Own Goal from Sony

Curious if it's beneficial being released on PC a year later. Hear me out.
In this hypothetical, for Sony 1st Party Game A

It's announced and launched on PlayStation, there's momentum for that game. Lot of copies being sold. People are talking about it. Then just as that momentum comes to a stop, you announce it on PC. It picks back up again. Look at all the PC enhancements! It's a great port! New patch on PlayStation. GOTY edition coming. Sales pick up again.

You would have a longer sale cycle instead of everything at once. The game is in the spotlight longer this way. I would think you would have a longer tail off then if both came out together.

@ATaco if Game pass were to come to Playstation. Do you earn Achievements or Trophies? Would you need an Xbox login like PC game pass? Who makes the money on the microtransactions and expansions?

It will essentially be a layer on top of Playstation. I don't think it will work unless it's more of a premium to have it on Playstation so MS makes their money, but then everything else goes to Sony. Seems messy

Re: Poll: Will the Switch 2 Compete with PS5?

Upscaling technology, especially the king of it right now Nvidia DLSS, could bring much high fidelity to Nintendo hardware. Less is more in this case and could be an exciting time for those who want better graphics on Nintendo hardware. Not to mention more 3rd party titles that can actually run equally on Nintendo hardware for the first time since the GameCube.

Pretty exciting

Re: Naughty Dog's New PS5 Game Is Finally Announced, Sci-Fi Action Title Intergalactic

Very excited for new IP, especially from Naughty Dog.

Am I the only one who felt like a little disappointed by the "80s Sci-fi, Guardians of the Galaxy vibe."

Isn't this the same thing that people used as a negative against Concord? Is it okay because it's ND? What if Concord didn't die? Sony pushing two games in this aesthetic so close together?

I'm pumped for the game, don't get me wrong, but I have questions lol. Just seems too familiar. Is it because of the GotG mainstream success now everything needs to be similar to that?

Re: Best PS1 Games

No Suikoden 2 is wild.

Not sure if I liked having the FF/CT re-releases here. While FF4 and FF6 are amazing games. Not something I associate with PS1.

Wouldn't mind editing some of these best of lists down. Obviously some of the best PS2 games re-released on PS3 make them some of the best PS3 games. No double dipping.

For those mid 30s-40+ in age, spending your early gaming years in the Nintendo vs Sega era. Playstation coming onto the scene was such a big thing and look at where we are now. What a wild ride.

I always have had a Playstation (primary) and Nintendo console since I was a kid. Every gen, all the great games that have come out. The great IPs that have come and gone. I feel like Playstation has continued to mature and grow over the years to cater to a gamer at any age. Yes, Nintendo still has the nostalgia factor, and still makes great games, but the target audience is always and has been kids first.

Can't wait to see what the next 30 bring for Sony.

Re: PS5 Fans Willing to Pay a Pretty Penny for a Steam Deck-Like Portable PlayStation

charbtronic

Sony making this a dedicated device would not work. They wouldn't be able to provide enough experiences between PlayStation, VR, and a handheld. The fear of this becoming a true Vita successor is not likely and a poor business decision. This will definitely be a companion device.

Nintendo cleaned up their portfolio by committing to one platform and it's one of the best selling consoles of all time. Can't expect them to ever go back to a two platform strategy, so why would Sony.

Re: Talking Point: Would You Want a Steam Deck-Like Portable PlayStation?

charbtronic

We don't need a dedicated console to make games for, just a device to play our library of games locally on the go.

I'm sure they can make something and sell it for less than PSVR2 and then you don't have to support it with software. That's what was a good selling point for the SteamDeck. It's your current Steam Library on go. Just give me the PlayStation version of that.
