Dragon's Dogma 2 Sales Top 4 Million with Still No Sign of an Expansion

I'd rather they focused on a third game and removed some of the restrictive gameplay systems around travel etc that lead to excessive back tracking.

I quite like the pawn system and believe the series has a future as that differentiates it from other RPG's and carves it's own niche.

I still adore the combat but everything else was a let down. The main story quests are just bad. The game is at it's best when you just explore. 🤷‍♂️

I absolutely hated this game. On paper it's right up my street but for many reasons it turned out to be a load of old tosh. Most of the time I'm happy to admit that a game just isn't for me, but with this one I'm convinced that everyone who praised this had a moment of pure insanity because almost everything about it is just bad.

4 million means the game has had practically no legs after that first 3 month period. Not a good look for Capcom games which do incredibly well in the discount bins.

I don't see DLC or a sequel happening.

Played and beat it after release, a lot of backtracking, bugged quests and talkative pawns galore. Too many dragons, this isn’t Skyrim.

Can i turn off your friends talking and is it 60fps yet? If so, then i'll start playing again

They should fix the base game, it runs like dogshit.

@Dogbreath The game was great with its restrictrive gameplay systems. Only issue was that the constant combat and lack of enemy variety made it really tedious.

Congrats for Capcom for this. I pretty much gave up hope for some type of expansion though. Still a great game.

Besides a DLC, I just wish they added a hard mode. We did not wait for months just to get easy mode and nothing else 💀

If they had any intention of fixing the Pro version, I might be inclined to play it again, but alas, it doesn't seem like there's any plan for that.

This game was such a massive disappointment.

@somnambulance You should! It gets much better as it goes along. Plus, not to spoil anything, but the narrative doesn't really properly reveal itself until you finish it the second time (bit like Silent Hill F - the first ending is kind of a fake out)

I loved DD2. Just a trek to your current objective was an adventure all in itself.

The game director bounced right after release. There will be no expansion.

Well... the fact that they decided to say something is well... something?
But, "team"? I don't think there is a team any more. The series creator left after release. The staff likely were put working on MH wilds and/or got reassigned to the new Kamiya team.
I doubt there is an actual DD team left. They will be working on Okami atm and probably the next DMC after.

I would be very surprised if they were working on anything for this game, even this series atm. This one will be in cold ice until the next DMC comes out. Even then... i don't know if they have someone that will champion it. I don't see Kamiya picking it up.
But, given these sales, the higher ups might try and get a new project going in the future.

Dragon's Dogma 2 is one of my favorite experiences on my PS5 Pro. I bought the game months after release, and several patches later. The story was mid, but combat and exploration was great. To me, the game feels like what I imagined in my mind as a child when I played Final Fantasy 1 on the NES.

Did they fix how it runs already?

Replaying it on ps5 (previously played on pc) still doesn’t run perfect, man the re engine should not do open world games
Still like the game it’s fun to just chill and vibe to 😂

Just like the first game, it's underrated.

I'd play it again if they released an expansion like Dark Arisen. Despite its flaws, Dragon's Dogma and Dragon's Dogma 2 have the potential to be the greatest games of all time, I wish Capcom would put some more effort into it and throw some decent writers in, add way more enemy variety and things to do outside fighting/exploring.

@Nepp67 that's what I mean about restrictive systems with fast travel etc.

You end up running down the same roads, being ambushed in the same places, and by the same enemies.

I believe you are perceiving the issue as being with the enemies etc, when if you boil it down to the core issue, it's actually what I said about the systems (as that's what forced you into those situations).

@Dogbreath The fast traveling being restricted is what makes it interesting and fun. Not having easy access to fast traveling makes is what makes DD and DD2 this fun roadtrip with your pawns and needing to plan out your route and your fast travel points(Similar to Death Stranding 1 and 2). The problem with DD2 however is the fact that they did not improve enemy variety or actually make the roads safer to travel around like it was stated by some of the characters so you're facing 2 or 3 enemy mobs too frequently.
