Monster Hunter Wilds Sells 11 Million in Just Under a Year, But May Lack World's Momentum 1

Despite the game's ropey reputation, Monster Hunter Wilds has been another big success for Capcom.

In a new financial report covering the company's third quarter of its financial year 2025, the publisher states the game has now surpassed 11 million units sold. It's reached that figure in about 11 months, putting it roughly on pace with the franchise's best seller, Monster Hunter World.

While that seems like pretty good news for Wilds, it does seem like its sales are moving much slower than those of its predecessor (after a huge initial spike).

Wilds sold 10 million copies in its first month, a record in its own right for Capcom. By comparison, it took about two months for World to hit 7.5 million, so its initial sales, while still very impressive, were slower.

However, Wilds doesn't seem to quite have the same momentum that World did. After selling 10 million copies in a month, it's taken a further 10 to reach 11 million, meaning an average of 100,000 units per month.

As mentioned, it took World about the same amount of time to reach 11 million sales, but it did so at a much steadier pace that seemed to last. In three years and nine months, World reached the 20 million milestone; Wilds could take another seven and a half years to do the same, if its momentum holds at its current level.

It's an interesting comparison to make. Wilds is clearly another hit for Capcom, but it does seem as though its sales slowed quite sharply following a huge launch.
