Despite the game's ropey reputation, Monster Hunter Wilds has been another big success for Capcom.
In a new financial report covering the company's third quarter of its financial year 2025, the publisher states the game has now surpassed 11 million units sold. It's reached that figure in about 11 months, putting it roughly on pace with the franchise's best seller, Monster Hunter World.
While that seems like pretty good news for Wilds, it does seem like its sales are moving much slower than those of its predecessor (after a huge initial spike).

Wilds sold 10 million copies in its first month, a record in its own right for Capcom. By comparison, it took about two months for World to hit 7.5 million, so its initial sales, while still very impressive, were slower.
However, Wilds doesn't seem to quite have the same momentum that World did. After selling 10 million copies in a month, it's taken a further 10 to reach 11 million, meaning an average of 100,000 units per month.
As mentioned, it took World about the same amount of time to reach 11 million sales, but it did so at a much steadier pace that seemed to last. In three years and nine months, World reached the 20 million milestone; Wilds could take another seven and a half years to do the same, if its momentum holds at its current level.
It's an interesting comparison to make. Wilds is clearly another hit for Capcom, but it does seem as though its sales slowed quite sharply following a huge launch.

As usual, kudos to Capcom for being transparent about their sales numbers!
Surely there's an Expansion in the works, that will boost the sales and some players like to wait for the complete package.
Down playing selling 10M copies sold is crazy work.
I recently picked it back up and I am really enjoying it.
I'm also REALLY digging having a voiced Hunter who is both gentle and a professional.
I hope we get a really cracking expansion announced soon.
My only gripe is that it is a weirdly ugly game compared to Rise and World.
Not a fan of MonHun but hey congrats to Capcom.
I wish other niche Capcom games like Darkstalkers, Rival Schools, Strider, God Hand, Haunting Ground, or Breath of Fire have the same popularity and sales numbers as MonHun...
@PuppetMaster woukd absolutely love a new (or remake) Rival schools and Breath of fire. Surely there's a way to bring them back and sell well enough to revive the franchise
I feel like the people picking it back up now are in for a pleasant surprise. There's things to grind for, the multiplayer community is still thriving and the difficulty has been upped (some might say a bit too much) overall as someone who played since launch, I think you should give it another try if you beat the main story and quickly got bored. There's a lot more content to sink into.
Yeah, there was a lot of hype with this one, but the end result was shockingly flawed.
It's still an insane amount of sales, but it will probably not gonna be beating world and rise.
Shockingly means the series is officially in decline, even if still huge.
I still think there is major growth potential if they don't put their foot in their mouth. Wilds has no doubt made some damage though.
Hopefully the next entry uses switch 2 as it's base and we get a great performing game.
I think a switch 2 + ps5 + pc launch will beat these numbers.
With that said... rumor is that wilds may still release on switch 2. Though i dunno how, given how badly it performs.
I still really enjoy the game and I'm excited for the major expansion when it releases.
Honestly the numbers aren't great for MH. Especially one where they went for all platforms. Remember Worlds did 11 million without steams 100+ million users.
But this seems to be a pretty big issue for Capcom right now. All their games have big launches where they get their influencers to talk about every release like it's the best thing since Sliced Bread but then after launch the games are considered decent to poor and have no legs. Even the RE, DMC series have seen massive improvements in sales because they're literally sold for under 10 dollars often
