Re: Review: Bloodborne (PlayStation 4)

@GraveLordXD Thats what I meant. The combat was fine it was more the un turnoffable invasion mechanics and the lack of pause.
But lets not overcomplicate things, the games are hard regardless.
Im a huge fan of Ninja Gaiden and DmC, and without sounding big headed, Im very good at them, I find it easier than some no doubt but they are hard all the same.

Re: Review: Bloodborne (PlayStation 4)

I'm itching to play this, and Dark Souls 2.
Although I enjoy a fleshier story that doesn't always have me guessing where the hell I'm going and why, but that's the draw for these games I suppose.
I loved Demons Souls, but didn't like Dark Souls at all.
It came across as less about dying giving you insight, but more like the more you die the more you repeat the exact same thing, until, by that repetition you beat an enemy.
Not due to learning its weaknesses necessarily, by skill or strategy, but by the fact you have already done it fifty times, losing all the stuff you've collected up to that point.
But my biggest problem with Souls, is no pause menu to begin with, and that's never a positive for me, I have a son who may require my attention, and the fact I'm forced to play offline, as to stop anyone jumping into my game, and killing me for no other reason than to be a c**t.
I remember being at the start of the game, just after the tutorial area, and some guy kills me, then messages me calling me a noob etc.
That happened 3-4 more times and I though f this, I'm out!

Re: Not All of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt's DLC Is Free

ToOGoodOfAPlaya

@get2sammyb I dont see an issue.
Did they actually state they wouldnt have a season pass?
I have only read the article specifically regarding small DLC, which these certainly are not.
Nobody is losing out on ANY of the aforementioned free DLC, with or without the pass.
If the developer chooses to have a season pass on top of a load of free stuff, which they could have charged for to begin with, why is that a major concern?

My point is, unless anyone directly loses out, which at present is simply not the case, why is it such a horrific thing to announce?

Re: Bloodborne Gets an Unintended Easy Mode

ToOGoodOfAPlaya

I wouldnt be surprised if this is somewhat intentional.
I mean, who has their PS4 running 12 straight in one game?
If its taking that long to beat a boss, youre clearly getting wrecked so it may be a way of evening the odds.
Like the old controller in port 2 on MGS.

Re: Review: Axiom Verge (PlayStation 4)

ToOGoodOfAPlaya

@Johnnycide Yeah, thats pretty on point.
I see what you mean with the blog cost etc.
And I do agree Indies have a place.

Apotheon for me was like Transistor to seemingly everyone else, it was fresh looking, fun, and in a fairly unused theme.

Re: Interview: We Talk to the Man Who Made Metroid for PS4

ToOGoodOfAPlaya

@get2sammyb I dont doubt it will, Im glad that the dudes efforts will be rewarded.
Im just getting bored with same old same old accross the board.
That includes the big names too.

Arent Ninja Theory a fair sized studio though?
You rarely, if ever, see that kind of thing from the likes of guys who made Merc Kings and so on, but thanks, Heavenly sword was class, and Ill keep an eye out!

Re: Review: Axiom Verge (PlayStation 4)

ToOGoodOfAPlaya

@Johnnycide Not saying they are preventing at all.
I think you have misinterpreted my comment.
Maybe I didnt make what I meant as clear as Id hoped.
There is a large emphasis on the idie dev, from blogs, sony etc.
Im fairly sure that there have been threads here that have stated Sony believes the indie market is the way forward per se.
If not then Ive read it elsewhere.

And on top of that plenty of "triple a" games get slated for being too similar to others, and I dont believe indies should be exempt from this, but it often appears so.

Re: Interview: We Talk to the Man Who Made Metroid for PS4

ToOGoodOfAPlaya

@themcnoisy Having a template to work from is fine.
But you can guarantee, if a big name dev makes a similar game to battlefield for example, it will get the "unoriginal, clone, etc" treatment.
Indies are not exempt from this.
Im not bashing the game, but its been done. Alot.
If ypu like it great, it might be good, I dont know.
But for what it is, a Metroid "clone", for want of a better word, these games are priced what I would say is far too high, considering you can buy the classic console plus the classic game for less than these sell for.

Re: Interview: We Talk to the Man Who Made Metroid for PS4

ToOGoodOfAPlaya

@themcnoisy I loved Metroid, it looked and played smazing for its day.
I picked up a SNES copy for a quid, which is a nice addition to my collection of classics.

Truth is, I find that these games just arent as fun for me anymore.
I like a risk taking dev with things like Apotheon, which is uniquely artstyled.
Hover and No Mans Sky are other things Id like to see more of, unique and fresh.
Id love to see an "indie" like Devil May Cry, but we all know itll never happen, as they have to conform to things like side scrolling, 16 bit art styles etc.

If youre into it then more power to you.

Feel free to assume me an indie hating bigot who only likes "aaa" and whatnot because my opinion is different, thats what usually happens.

Re: Review: Axiom Verge (PlayStation 4)

ToOGoodOfAPlaya

Loved Metroid, great story, great characters, tons of lore, great looking…for its day.

But my counter argument would be that as great as it is that it was made by one man, and that its a throwback, Im seeing alot of these "indies" are carrying a high pricetag for the genre and gametype they are, considering you can pick up classics for less than a fiver, which I often do.
And I personally didnt buy a £400 console to repeatedly see an emphasis on games that require far less investment.

That said Im sure this will do well, and wish the dude all the best luck going forward.
Feel free to ridicule and call me a bigot or whatever because I didnt praise this game to high heaven.

Re: Interview: We Talk to the Man Who Made Metroid for PS4

ToOGoodOfAPlaya

I was totally betrayed by this thread title!
I thought WOAH! I can relive an absolute proven classic on the PS4, instead its about a Metroid clone thatll likely carry a rediculously high price tag for what it is.

Im sure there is a big fanbase for this though.
And there are those that will bash this just because its indie no doubt.

I await the backlash.

Re: Of Course There's a Game Breaking Bug in Bloodborne

ToOGoodOfAPlaya

See, I can abide glitches, general bugs and the like.
But a bug that makes the game physically impossible to proceed in is far beyond acceptable.
How many hours could people have put in, grabbed help from a mate, then found that after a decent amount of time they have to go all the way back to be able to pass an area that should have already been passable?!

"Wait for a patch" or "just do that part solo" arent really answers either.
Thats not aimed at anyone but its the kind of rubbish devs and fanboys like to spout off.

Re: Here's Your First Look at Predator in Mortal Kombat X

ToOGoodOfAPlaya

I was watching thins seeing the characters walk forward from the shadows and I thought how cool it would be if Predator just uncloaked, and how much of a missed opportunity it would be should he not.
And BOOM! He totally uncloaked all awesome like!

On topic: Yeah Im toying with the idea of getting the deluxe edition that has the pass.

Re: Feature: The Seven Deadly Sins of Game Design

ToOGoodOfAPlaya

Any human enemy that can pwn me in 2-3 hits but takes 20 to kill, with the exact same weapon they use, is absurd also.

Id rather every enemy is a marksman than inconsistant ai though.
You can work around hyper accuracy because you know what to expect, not so with inconsistant ai.
