Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 III PS4 PlayStation 4

It sounds like Call of Duty: Black Ops III will freeze out the Cold War roots at the centre of Treyarch's sub-series, taking the futuristic elements of Call of Duty: Black Ops II and running with them. A leaked blurb discovered on the franchise's official website reveals that the forthcoming sequel will take place in a "dark, twisted future where a new breed of Black Ops soldiers emerges and the lines are blurred between our own humanity and the technology that we created to stay ahead, in a world where cutting-edge military robotics define warfare". So, it's Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, then.

The blurb confirms that the game will release on next-gen hardware, so the PlayStation 4 is a certainty – but you should probably expect a PlayStation 3 version as well. It also mentions zombies, which has been a mainstay in Treyarch's titles for a while now. The summary concludes: "[Call of Duty: Black Ops III will be] the deepest and most ambitious Call of Duty ever." The early Activision advertising campaign certainly suggests that the publisher's going for the throat this time out. And seeing as Treyarch is considered the series' A-team these days, we're starting to feel the hype a little bit.
