Update []: The votes are in, and one game has dominated what we thought would be a much more competitive Game of the Month poll.

Buoyed by extremely positive review scores and word of mouth, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is the runaway winner, easing past the competition.

Over 1,300 votes were cast in the aforementioned poll. These are the top five PS5 titles of April 2025, according to readers of Push Square:

  1. Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 - 745 votes (54%)
  2. Indiana Jones and the Great Circle - 192 votes (14%)
  3. The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered - 166 votes (12%)
  4. Forza Horizon 5 - 86 votes (6%)
  5. Days Gone Remastered - 76 votes (6%)

Clair Obscur's potential was easy to see even back when it was first announced, but we're not sure anyone saw it being such a huge hit. The uniquely strange RPG has resonated with a much wider audience than many would have anticipated, and French developer Sandfall Interactive must be over the moon.

As mentioned, the game was met with rave reviews prior to release. We called it an "absolute must-play", awarding the innovative adventure a 9/10 in our full Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 PS5 review.

"Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is one of the most refreshing and original RPGs in years," we wrote. "This is the kind of experience that proves there’s still so much potential and creativity in the bigger-budget video game space — Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is simply sublime."

Original Story: April was a surprisingly busy period for new releases, partly thanks to the shadow drop of Oblivion Remastered. Arriving near the end of the month, weeks of rumours and speculation erupted into pure excitement for the nostalgia-driven adventure.

In fact, it was a big month for Xbox-related titles in general. PS5 users were handed both Indiana Jones and the Great Circle and Forza Horizon 5, as part of the Team in Green's continued third-party push.

These have all been highly rated games, by the way — but nothing quite matched the review scores of beloved puzzler Blue Prince and superbly unique RPG Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. We're only in April, but the latter's been getting Game of the Year nods ever since it arrived.
