
With news of Gears of War’s imminent PS5 debut still reverberating, it means Halo is the final remaining holdout of Xbox’s historic big three.
For years, Microsoft was criticised for putting too much of an emphasis on its so-called holy trifecta of Halo, Forza, and Gears. To the credit of the manufacturer, it’s since significantly diversified – aided, of course, by almost $100 billion of publisher and developer acquisitions.
But now, with the entirety of its lineup seemingly slated for PS5, its Master Chief who remains missing from Sony’s system.

That’s practically guaranteed to change later this year, of course, because there have been strong rumours of the Halo games coming to PlayStation for quite some time now.
Most recently, The Verge’s well-connected journalist Tom Henderson said Halo: The Master Chief Collection is being plotted for PS5, although he explained that it may not include all of the games in the franchise day one.
We suppose it’s possible Microsoft may split up the titles and sell them individually, a little like it’s doing with Gears of War: Reloaded, which just features the first game and not the entire trilogy like originally expected.
