You might have missed it, but there were actually two Ghost of Yotei videos released yesterday.
The first was a new trailer, with a broad view of the game and what's in store for Atsu on her journey.
The second is a short gameplay snippet, focusing on the dual katanas:
It's the latest in a series of videos highlighting each weapon type. Dual katanas look to be fast and super stylish, with Atsu performing lots of rapid-fire slashes to take down enemies quickly.
This is just one of many weapons you'll be able to wield in the game; this video also features wielding a single katana and a yari, as well as throwable items.

There's not long to go now before the game's arrival on 2nd October. Are you liking the look of Ghost of Yotei's various weapons? Will you be favouring the dual katanas? Hack and slash the comments section below.

Day 1 babeyyyy
Miyamoto Musashi introduced this style in the year 1604 and he was a very successful swordsman. And this game is in 1603. Interesting.
Couldn't have ended better than with a magnificent display of samurai "badasserie"
Game releasing in exactly 2 weeks now - bring it!
@Vaako007 Maybe the master who teaches Atsu this style actually is Musashi? I can't see Sucker Punch name-dropping him completely, but another 'version' of him could make sense.
@Oz_Who_Dat_Dare It's a Sony first party game of course it will have a lot of promotion attached to it, don't think there is a any deeper meaning here. Just wait for the GTA6 promotion cycle, you'll be seeing that game in your sleep.
@Oz_Who_Dat_Dare Most gamers don’t spend time on forums or sites like this, so their exposure to content can vary. They might only see one or two of these clips. These are precisely the people Sony is trying to reach.
Saw a thread a few days ago where one complaint was that this seems like the same old Ghost of Tsushima with nothing new coming to the table. Maybe that person hasn’t watched any of the clips? 🤷🏾♂️
@Oz_Who_Dat_Dare We live in a world of Tik Tok and youtube shorts AKA very short videos/clips, because sadly that is how the younger generations retain infomation, so compaines have adapted to this short form style of promotion.
I haven't been this hyped for a game in awhile.
Amazing animations, but I just don’t understand how people can accept this level of “realism” in group combat. The last enemy is just standing and watching his mate getting sliced, not even raising a sword!
@Oram77 I read somewhere that the average song nowadays is 2:21 in length vs. an average of 3:26 to 4:00 back in the 80s and 90s.
Supposedly musicians do this because of the short attention spans of steamers and the fact that a certain number of songs have to be played on a streaming service for it to count as an album sale.
So if the attention spans are shorter, the can finish the album faster with shorter songs and rack up sales. Kinda sad really lol.
@AhmadSumadi Yeah I think I read the same thing, but yes it's extremely sad, god knows what the generation after will be like, memories of a goldfish comes to mind 😂
@Vovander this is why Jackie Chan was peak fighting realism in cinema. The choreography had many people attacking him at once and they’d use certain grunts so he knew which direction to dodge. Chan said it’s because he’d always hated seeing fights when 3 guys just stand there while the 4th guy gets his butt kicked by the hero.
@Oram77 it’s the phones, man! Like, my wife and I walk 2 miles in the morning. We walk past high schoolers waiting for the bus and there’s at least 5 feet between then all and they’re all glued to their phones. They all line in the same neighborhood and I don’t think any of them have ever said a word to each other. That’s a far cry from how I remember the school bus stop in the mornings when I was growing up.
@AhmadSumadi Social media is the worst thing we have come up with as a societ, oh I would also add Bruce Lee for the peak fighting realism, Enter the Dragon is ICONIC!
@Vovander If you wanna talk about "how people accept this level of realism" then why not go all the way where the player character and enemies should die in a single hit. Imagine irl if your chest getting slice up or your neck got stab with a sword / katana. I wonder if that would be a fun game to play though...
But i'm pretty sure Sucker Punch never say they're trying to replicate every realistic situations and behaviour in a sword fight or group combat.
What they tried to do with this game is to replicate old samurai movies. If you ever watch any of them, you would know they dramatized the combat in order to make the protagonist looks badass in camera.
@Oz_Who_Dat_Dare dude its a bot, i commented and that dude responded in like 10 secs to posting. Honestly surprised they kept your comment up at all for having a thought
