There have been enough trailers and gameplay reveals for Ghost of Yotei now that you almost certainly know what you are going to get with the Sucker Punch sequel, but this new trailer sums everything up nicely in 90 seconds. It's all about combat, exploration, parkour, and looking cool while you're doing it. Catch the trailer above.
Set 300 years after the critically acclaimed Ghost of Tsushima, Ghost of Yōtei is standalone experience set in 1600s rural Japan. The story follows a haunted, lone mercenary named Atsu. Thirsty for revenge, she travels through the beautiful, rugged landscapes of northern Japan, hunting those who killed her family many years earlier.

Looks fantastic!
So many games this year and not even close to being over. I wish Rockstar could threaten a game release every March even after GTA6 is out, so we have this August to February onslaught every year
Looks great! Can’t wait to read the review. When does the embargo end?
Wonder if this’ll be the last trailer or if it will still make an appearance at the State of Play
Wow everywhere I go its downvoted and hated on by both sides. This might have a negative impact on sales.
@LogicStrikesAgain Someone in the comments at Gematsu on the trailer (which I probably lost more than a few sanity points reading) claimed embargo ends 25th.
@KonstantTrouble It won't. The internet isn't real life.
@dancingstar93 Love Gematsu for their updates on games and announcements. Hate everything else. Toxic and nasty.
@Enuo I agree. Preorders are still incredibly strong from what I can see on the Playstation store. Any score above 86 and the game will be a hit (with embargo lifting so early SIE are very confident)

I haven’t seen a single trailer or gameplay footage - bring it on.
Looks so amazing
@KonstantTrouble Look at Hogwarts Legacy, Assassin’s Creed Shadows, and The Last of Us Part II. All had a lot of vitriol directed towards it, but still sold very well. Usually the loudest voices online are in the minority. Wouldn’t worry too much.
@Enuo Well said. Most of them likely weren’t going to play it anyway.
a game should be judged on it's own merits not about anything else..
@MidnightDragonDX yeah i remember Hogwarts getting a real pounding for things not related to the game and that sold phenomenally. Funnily enough I've not looked at anything at all on Yotie. I did complete Tsushima but by the time I'd completed it I was done with it. If I decide to get this I will be going in blind.
Still not showing the writing...eeeh
I was sold after the very first trailer shown off last year, I have complete faith that Sucker Punch will deliver, roll on 2 Oct.

I hope everyone has a great time with the game when it releases 😃 shame it's not my cup of tea.
I really enjoyed the first game but it got repetitive. I haven’t seen anything that makes me think this one be be any different. I’ll wait for a discount I think.
One of the very few games I'll buy at launch this year.
I'm ready for another trek through rural Japan, bring it!
So many games coming out in the late September though October period that this one falls short. I don't think Sony's done a good job showcasing this game, maybe the idea was the reception of the first game was meant to sell you on the sequel but idk how effective that'll be. I might pick it up used down the line.
Yeah with this, FF Tactics remake, Sky FC & Silent Hill F in the space of a couple of weeks, some pretty tough choices.
@Kidfunkadelic83 @MidnightDragonDX
The Hogwarts Legacy example is a really good one, and should be used whenever we get these situations of games being 'judged' like this.
It was hated upon by individuals, and excluded from things like game awards etc by some parts of the media, because of something completely unrelated to the content of the game - I have played it multiple times and the devs did as much as they could to distance the actual content and message of the game from this.
I would go as far as saying that the devs metaphorically 'stuck fingers' up at the author including in unrelated ways, which you would only understand if you know the source material eg The ultimate 'hero' spell Expelliarmus can be turned into a damaging curse. Brilliant.
A perfect example that you shouldn't jump to conclusions/opinions without properly investigating.
On the other hand it actively promotes inclusion in the message of the game content, yet it did not 'go broke' as the saying goes, and is one of, if not the best selling single player game of this generation.
Looking forward to this. If it's just more of the same then that's fine because Tsushima was ace.
Really loved ghost of tsushima. Will never ever buy this

@Blaze215
If you loved Ghost of Tsushima so much then why make this comment??
@Pditty1980 your asking why I commented about liking the previous game? Why bother commenting anything if thats your logic
I took a long hard look at Ghost of Yotei and bought an air fryer instead. I regret nothing.
I don't know, unlike Tsushima who got me in the first trailer this one isn't doing much to get my attention. It also feels that unlike Tsushima, marketing team isn't doing much to promote the game.
First trailer had me going meh, second one got my attention and then one released like couple weeks ago had me going meh again.
Not only that but the recent comments by a Sucker Punch colaborator who got fired also had me wondering about the quality of Yotei.
I’m undecided if I’ll buy or not. I liked the first game but not enough to play it more than once. The gameplay was great but I don’t like samurai settings. Always found it to be a dealbreaker that prevents me from liking a game more.
This game and the trailers isn’t selling it to me to buy except for the wolf. For me that wolf is the only thing that makes me want it. So I think I’m more towards waiting for a steep sale or PS+
@Blaze215
1) there really was no need for the passive aggressive reply!
2) i meant if you loved Ghost of Tsushima so much why say you never buy the sequal?

@Pditty1980
1) sorry didn't realise I can only reply positively.
2) I have my reasons

@Rich33 The Hogwarts Legacy situation was a confusing one. Whilst you're right in saying that it did its best to distance itself from JK and her points of view, there was actively a boycott from both sides of the coin.
Those that disagreed with the inclusion of Sirona Ryan were supposedly stirring up boycotting rumors, but then so were the more progressive side. They felt that whilst JK may not have been directly involved in the project, the game itself was releasing near enough to the time she made her comments known on the internet. They felt that was a good enough reason to go out and not buy the product.
Following on from my last point, the original boycotters then used this media storm to decide actually you know what we're going to buy this game out of spite to the other crowd.
The IP itself is so massive and so loved i dont think any boycott that did or didn't happen wouldn't have put a dent in the sales anyway.
It was a solid game. Sitting between the 7/8 out of ten for me. Thoroughly enjoyed it.
I am buying a copy. Sucker Punch has earned my interest. The original GOT is one the best games I have ever played, and certainly the best game I have played on my PS5. Female protagonists don't bother me, crappy games do.

@TDHorizon
Oh, it was messy - you generally only get 1 sided campaigns, and you really had 2 opposite sides in this case - the main trouble being that some people (from both sides) were too busy arguing to look at the actual content on offer - which in my opinion, was pretty positive. Then it went on to sell incredibly well.
HL is one of a few games this gen I would give a 10/10 to - I enjoyed it that much, although imo you only get the real experience at its highest difficulty.
Im undecided on GOY at present, but people trying to push a toxic agenda online will not affect this, except maybe push me in the opposite direction.

Think this will easily be a GOTY contender and get 8.5/9 out of 10s or even higher. I think a lot of doubters will be proved wrong about it being to samey too Tsushima.
@MidnightDragonDX you only mentioned 3 games, but there are a dozens others that also got vitriol online and sold poorly, to name a few Saints Row Reboot, Concord, Suicide Squad, Forspoken, SW Outlaws, Dustborn, DA Vailguard, Unknown 9, etc
@mary1 True, but don’t think Yotei will be one of them. I probably could’ve given more examples here. Still, I don’t let social media tell me what to do since most are just stirring up the pot.
Very hesitant about this for multiple reasons - especially where the writing/story might be going. I figure it'll make it to the premium tier of PS+ eventually and maybe I'll give it a spin then.
I guess we'll find out if the internet is real or not huh. Personally, I'm not touching it.
Pre-ordered. Can't wait.
@mary1 So you added games that were bad as games? What is your point you bring up the worst of the worst to prove a point. Those games where bad in general.

I loved Ghosts of Thushima so this one will be a more with more weapons and options. Preordered it.

I’ll wait on reviews but I loved GoT so I imagine this will be a buy for me

There's a newer ~2min trailer on the official PlayStation YT channel, a bloody dual katana gameplay slice (dad pun, i know...) that ends with the usual samurai "badasserie" - magnificent!
