Re: Friday the 13th: The Game Slashes All Future Content

RedMageLanakyn

I think this is a blessing in disguise for the devs to be honest. The game is barely played, and even after several patches and "content packs", the game is still chock full of terrible animations, bugs, and glitches. They might be saying "oh darn" to the media, but I can guarantee they're high-fiving each other at the office, as they're now free to make their next Kickstarter without much of an obligation to this game or it's community.

Re: Talking Point: How Much Does Cross-Play Matter to You?

RedMageLanakyn

None of my friends or myself participate in cross play because game systems and games are cheap. Gaming is a hobby and a privilege, not something you're entitled to. Companies are in it to make money, and can do whatever they please with their products. If Sony wants to deal with some negative publicity from a game not being playable by the entire planet on 17 different devices, that's their call, and I'm sure they're well equipped for the 6 people on the internet crying out "I'm boycotting Sony products forever" that will most likely buy a PS4, if they don't already own one.

If you're dead set on playing a game with friends that's on a non cross play system, either buy the system, have your friends buy the system, or play a different game. There are dozens, if not hundreds of great games on each platform. You will not die if you can't play fortnite on your switch with your PS4 buddies. Your friendship will endure.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 224

RedMageLanakyn

@Rudy_Manchego Yeah that seems to be a theme with all the valkyries, get them down to a sliver of health and they're suddenly invincible. I got the queen to that point once, and yeah I was pretty much using the same load out as you suggested. It is luck for sure. She has two attacks that I absolutely suck at dodging, i just need to buckle down and learn the attacks.

@oatmealwarrior92 The Queen? I've been stuck on her for a week now, it is a very tough fight. Thinking of skipping her and finishing to prep for new game plus, but then again, what if it makes that fight harder?!

Probably going to try God of War again (sigh) and play some South Park Fractured, state of decay 2, bloodstained as well.

Re: Feature: E3 2018 Game of the Show - Ghost of Tsushima

RedMageLanakyn

@dark_knightmare2 I can see a lot of people seem to have that opinion, but i still stand by mine. If they show some gameplay that changes my mind, then great, I'll be the first to claim so. Again, I'm not dissing the game at all, this was more a self realization that I'm burnt out on souls-style games. Maybe I'm looking through a souls-tinged scope given my recent playthroughs, but that's just me calling it like I see it.

Re: Feature: E3 2018 Game of the Show - Ghost of Tsushima

RedMageLanakyn

@LieutenantFatman Nah, I mentioned that game in my first comment, forgot the name, although yes, that game is definitely much more souls related than ghosts of tsushima.

@NoxAeturnus Honestly, it was the swordplay mainly. I could see what others were referring to in terms of comparing it to say, an arkham game with the stealth, or horizon with the open world, or even Assassin's creed. It's not the difficulty of the souls games that burns me out, it's the "parry this, dodge, take some swipes, back out or roll in, repeat" formula, which i could see in the trailer. It's early, and i'm definitely not dissing the game, it looks beautiful for sure. Just need to see more in depth gameplay before I'm on board day one.

Re: Feature: E3 2018 Game of the Show - Ghost of Tsushima

RedMageLanakyn

@playstation1995 My eyes are fine, I've played plenty of Onimusha, and this doesn't look like that style of gameplay to me. Like I said above, i'll need to see more, because what I've seen resembles souls style gameplay, which I'm personally burnt out on. Less word up, more reading comprehension, son.

Re: Feature: E3 2018 Game of the Show - Ghost of Tsushima

RedMageLanakyn

I thought it looked great graphics-wise, but it looks like it's set to be yet another souls-type game set in a different era, which really doesn't interest me all that much. Souls fatigue is set in for me after Nioh, and now we have this, the other samurai souls game, code vein, and Nioh 2 in the works? A bit too much for me, time to take a break.

Re: Poll: Which PS4 Exclusive Has You Most Hyped at Sony's E3 2018 Showcase?

RedMageLanakyn

Give me all the TLOU2 info please. Not really interested in Death Stranding, a little curious as to what Tsushima is all about though.

@Homo-Ludens "If MGSV had done something fully right... it was the gameplay and no one can deny it"
Going to have to massively disagree there, as the gameplay became pretty boring after awhile. There was almost no reason to modify/upgrade anything, as basic tactics of fooling the AI would get the job done 99% of the time. I will agree that the actual "mechanics" of the game made for some fun times, but they were thrown into an empty, instanced, albeit pretty sandbox for the most part.

Re: Talking Point: Do We Really Need E3?

RedMageLanakyn

Why have an E3 when major things are snooped/leaked/announced weeks before the event, like what is happening now? Just have a worldwide "release week" and show some gameplay videos and trailers. No, we don't need an event for people to give "hands-on" impressions, because every one of them that I've seen is usually bring played by someone who is terrible at gaming in general, and it does the games a disservice, really. Here's a thought: release an actual Demo to the public!
