It’s hard to believe that Resident Evil 2 is not only real but is releasing so soon, but here’s a look at some gameplay footage just to prove that Capcom hasn’t been pulling our infected legs. As announced earlier in the week, the action takes place from an over-the-shoulder perspective, so with Leon S. Kennedy in the lead role, it bears more than a passing resemblance to Resident Evil 4.
However, as this gameplay footage demonstrates, it’s a helluva lot less trigger happy than the floppy haired hero’s trip to Spain. Exploration appears to be the order of the day, with the excellent RE Engine putting in real work, rendering Raccoon City at what appears to be a rock solid 60 frames-per-second. While we’re not overly keen on the new facial designs, it’s a small nit-pick in an otherwise stellar looking game.

Resident Evil 4 gameplay taking place in Raccoon City sounds like heaven. Like many people that one is my favorite in the series.
I really want it after this ;D
Re: faces - Supposed to represent a younger Leon?
Glad the game is coming out early 2019. Was afraid it wasn't going to be out until November 2019.
Gameplay looks fantastic.
Makes me want to play the games from the start again, too bad Resident Evil 1 remake doesn't look half as good as this one...
Day 1 buy!!!! Thank you capcom!!!!
Now hopefully they can do Resident evil 3 next
Gutted, I was hoping for either the original style or Resident Evil 7 with full VR support style. Not a fan of 4, 5 and 6. I'll most likely get it, as I love Resident Evil 2, but for me, it's very disappointing to see it plays like 4.
@fontainelefunk well, it IS his first day on the job...
I played this once on release, having to rent it from a place by mine. Had to rush to finish it so I really don't remember much. Can't wait to play this! The original release was around the same time that I saw my all time favourite fillm, Dawn of the Dead. Oh man, such nostalgia!!!!
Looks glorious
They would be mad not to do Resi 3 after this considering it's the same location. Fingers crossed.
Resident Evil 2 is still my favourite of the franchise and probably the only one that ever made me jump many times. This is looking like an incredibly faithful remake with the perfect storm of controls/viewpoint from 4, slower pace of 7 and puzzles from the 90's. Added to the fact it has real atmosphere and zombies look like a threat again, horror games always benefit from small intimate settings and Capcom finally seem to have learned this.
My personal favourite game of E3
@SoulChimera
I hope they announce a VR mode. Shouldn't be too difficult as it uses the Resi 7 engine.
I wasn't watching this for the gameplay. I'm watching it for other reasons...
....Gotta Love Meredith!
Aw man, this looks class!
Whoever was playing this needs to invert their Y because they were shooting zombies in the arse instead of the head.
I'm interested to see how the remake will handle some of Resi 2's hammier enemies, such as giant crocodiles, giant moths and walking plants.
Jolly jeepers that looks fun
Yeah, just like back in late 97 when I started learning more about the original release, this is my most anticipated game, even ahead of TLoU Part II.
Really looking forward to this one 🙂
This is looking even better than I imagined, even though I already had high expectations of it. I do still need to finish REmake, though!
This just keeps looking better the more I see. Even if it looks like they modeled Leon after Zac Efron
@ApostateMage When I was watching this I was thinking stop wasting your bullets dude. Super excited for Resi 2, it was one of my first playstation games many years ago. It looks like they've done an incredible job of updating while respecting the original.
@kyleforrester87 I thought I remember hearing a rumor awhile back that they are not including the giant crocodile. I hope this is not true seeing as that was one of the most intense encounters in the original.
@SonuvLiberty I'm sure the giant croc will be in the game. I can actually see it working pretty well.
@kyleforrester87 I hope so. If not I can only imagine what surprises they have up their sleeves. I'm excited!
@BearsEatBeets Not only do they all look awkward sitting on a couch but they can't play their own game either. Embarrassing.
I can't wait for this.
@fontainelefunk he's 21 in part 2 takes place in 1998
@RenanKJ the first remake still good and spooky but this part 2 remake will be even better
@SoulChimera I'm why! it wasn't action it still has horror elements And part 4 got good reviews,won numerous awards and was game of the year
@kyleforrester87 the leak said he wasn't cut in the game they put him in a different location
@kyleforrester87 I just heard the Big Croc shall be included!
@SonuvLiberty nice!!!
@Undead21 loved 0, 1, 2, 3 and Code Veronica. 4 just didn’t do it for me. 5 went even further and 6... well, I only played it for 30 minutes. While 7 was a completely different style again, I only played through it in VR and it blew me away. So if I had a choice, it would be original or 7’s style.
@SoulChimera so you stuck in the past?got it
@Undead21 7 is the latest one.
@SoulChimera oh i thought you was talking about a old one
I purposely skimmed the video, gameplay looks excellent but don't want to spoiler myself.
Looking forward to PushSquare's review in January.
