Sony is approaching things differently when it comes to E3 2018, as its first-party focus will lie at the feet of four exclusive games when PlayStation takes to the stage. Death Stranding, Ghost of Tsushima, Spider-Man, and The Last of Us: Part II are all planning on wowing audiences around the world with brand new trailers and extended gameplay reveals, but which one are you most excited to see?
Death Stranding
Taking a quick glance at the other three titles in this article, you could probably get a good idea of how they play thanks to trailers, previous entries in the series, and just having a know-how about video games. This cannot be said about Death Stranding, however.
From what has already been shown, all we know to really expect is Norman Reedus, Mads Mikkelsen, babies, electronic umbilical cords, and invisible monsters. And that's already... something. As Hideo Kojima ventures into even more unknown territory with gameplay at E3 2018, Death Stranding has the potential to blow away any and every piece of competition in its path.
And as Mikkelsen describes it as a collaborative experience that will need different people from different parts of the world to work together, the plot only thickens. We have absolutely no idea what to expect from Death Stranding's gameplay reveal, and that's incredibly exciting.
Ghost of Tsushima
Going into the show, Ghost of Tsushima is the game we've seen the least of, and as such, probably has the best chance of blowing everyone away thanks to its ever so slightly lower profile. Since going into hiding back in 2014, Sucker Punch has been all hands-on deck with their latest open-world epic, one that introduces samurais into the mix.
After mastering its craft earlier in the generation, the studio could be set to deliver one of the PS4's very best experiences. The developer knows the hardware, it knows how to fashion an excellent open-world title, and with medieval Japan providing the basis for its environments and mechanics, we can't wait to see what Sucker Punch has been cooking up.
Spider-Man
Out of the four titles, Spider-Man is clearly the biggest known quantity going into E3 2018. So, what can it do to surprise and impress us when it's surrounded by the mystery and intrigue of the other three games? With its release only a matter of months away, we reckon Insomniac will choose to focus on the mechanics that make the world and Peter Parker tick.
Let's get a taste for the man behind the mask's everyday life, as he tries to kick start some sort of career while juggling loans and financial problems. As well as that, introduce one or two new well-known enemies as gameplay takes centre stage with a boss fight, or even just focus on the feel of that web-slinging.
We doubt it's going to be Game of the Show this time around, but we're certain that Spider-Man can still put in an excellent shift just prior to release that'll have us foaming at the mouth for even more.
The Last of Us: Part II
Naughty Dog is set to unveil the first piece of gameplay for The Last of Us: Part II to the public in less than two weeks time. Just writing that is enough to have us sold on Sony's E3 extravaganza, but there's still the possibility of a hint of disappointment creeping in at the end of it all.
The Last of Us was one of the PS3's very, very best, but we want to see how its sequel takes things to the next level with a ton of new features, mechanics, environments, and new ways to play. Cynically, you could probably predict how Ellie's next excursion will play in a general sense, and so we hope Neil Druckmann's team has crafted something that will still surprise us when we pick up the controller. We're in very safe hands, but The Last of Us: Part II still has something to prove at this year's E3.

I'm most hyped for ghosts of tsushima ofcourse. Historical games always get my attention.
the game that Will have to impress me the most is death stranding. I'm just not hyped for it at all.
Déjà vu?
It's still Ghost for me. I think we'll see the most of either TLOU or Death Stranding with a long trailer and a long gameplay demo. Death Stranding could go either way for me, but I'm a fan of the setting and looks of the trailers so far.
Death Stranding is just killing me. I fear it a lot, in a good way. Filled with mysteries and questions, I've seen people complaining about it being too vague or something, but ask me, that's the purpose of it. I don't expect to get clear-cut answers from either Kojima or the game itself...
as for how the game plays... I personally have no doubt Kojima will deliver as always. If MGSV had done something fully right... it was the gameplay and no one can deny it.
I went with TLOU even though I have reservations for it. That said, Spiderman will show the most.
The Last of Us: Part 2 and Spider-Man are known quantities. I kind of know what I'm going to get. Same can't be said about Ghost or Death Stranding.
Went with Death Stranding, because it's the most intriguing.
I'll likely get all of them anyways, so it doesn't really matter .
Honestly im pretty excited for all of these even though Dearh Stranding has to show us what it actually is I would say that's why it makes me more excited for it than the others
@KratosMD We've got three big first party open world games coming up (four if you include Days Gone). I'm perfectly fine with TLOU sticking to a more focused and linear experience!
Ghost of Tsushima even though I'm hyped for all of 'em. E3 Hype Word up, son.
The Last of Us I'm definitely getting and now that I know it's coming, I'd rather see as little of it as possible. Even that last trailer we got felt like it spoiled a bit of the game.
Death Stranding and Tsushima I'd like to see gameplay of. Spiderman for whatever reason I'm not that hyped for so could do with seeing more.
Def have to be Ghost Of Tsushima for me...
@KratosMD I'm not sure if that works for TLOU. Especially since it's more grounded in realism. In the first one we went from the east coast of North America to the west coast, that wouldn't be possible in an open world. Same is true for the changing seasons, ND's reliance on set pieces, etc. I feel like everyone is doing open worlds these days, so I want to keep a few linear games, just for the sake of having something different.
I'm mostly looking forward to ghost of tsushima. I love the setting and until ubi gives us an assassin's creed game, that's the best chance we have for a historical samurai game. However, I really can't wait for the other games, too.
Ghost of Tsushima is the one I'm most excited to see, purely because that's the one we've seen the least about. Plus, historical samurai games always have the potential to be lots of fun. I feel that we still won't have a clue what what Death Stranding is about even if they show it off in great detail.
The one I'm most interested in is Ghost of Tsushima. Death Stranding definitely has the most to prove, it's a Kojima game so that alone has me interested but it's crazy that we still no damn near nothing about it.
I'm definitely more hyped for Ghost Of Tsushima than the rest. This is going to blow us all away because..hey,Sucker Punch.
Spiderman i have had on pre-order for ages so I don't need to say much on that one.
The Last Of Us part 2 I'm interested in despite thinking the game never needed a sequel. And Death Stranding to be honest I'm not hyped at all for it so that game has to do the most to win me over.
Ghost of Tsushima. It's the biggest unknown of the bunch and the setting is interesting to me.
I loved the Last of Us, but what we've seen of the second so far hasn't particularly grabbed me. It seems an unnecessary sequel given how perfectly the first one ended, and fairly or not it's like it has to prove to me that it is necessary.
Honestly I'm really excited about all of them, apart from Spider Man and that's because I'm not into super heroes.
Each game has it's own reasons as to why it will be great to see. TLOU2 is the sequel to my favourite game of all time, and I can't wait to see new infected and the situations Ellie and Joel are in. Death Stranding is the result of a very creative mind being given full creative freedom, it features Mads Mikkelsen as the villain, the giant alienesque creature looks amazing and I'll be interested to see how all sci-fi elements are used in the story and gameplay. Finally Ghost of Tsushima is set in such a great context: Feudal Japan battling against one the fiercest fighting forces in history. Then Sucker Punch are known for reliably good gameplay and controls, and being a ninja (which I think is likely) gives a whole array of gameplay possibilities.
It's a bummer that new announcements are unlikely, but the above 3 games make it forgivable.
Out of those 4 choices easily most excited for spiderman. Ghosts of Tsushima would be second though. I know too little about what Death Stranding is as a game to be excited about it and I don't find Last of Us very interesting either. I can't wait for next week!
@JAMes-BroWWWn i agree with you.ghost of tshushima is the one i want to see the most.word up son
My most hyped e3 2018 game is death stranding, ghost of tsushima, tlou 2 and spider-man, in that order.
I don't know anything about death stranding beside it's 3rd person game like assassin creed so it's the number one game that I want to know more. Ghost of tsushima is my number 2 e3 2018 game because its rare to see AAA realistic samurai game and I want to see sucker punch take on samurai settings. Since tlou 2 is a sequel, I already know that it will be a bigger and better tlou 1 (day 1 for me). The last place is spider-man, I already know enough that I'll buy the game day 1 from game informer previews, so I don't need to see more of it.
Most interested in: Ghost of Tshushushimashma
Need to be sold on: Death Stranding
Why are you all lying? XD you'll buy Death Stranding anyway!!
Anyway, from the leak they said MGS would be remade, my god that would be cool!
Give me all the TLOU2 info please. Not really interested in Death Stranding, a little curious as to what Tsushima is all about though.
@Homo-Ludens "If MGSV had done something fully right... it was the gameplay and no one can deny it"
Going to have to massively disagree there, as the gameplay became pretty boring after awhile. There was almost no reason to modify/upgrade anything, as basic tactics of fooling the AI would get the job done 99% of the time. I will agree that the actual "mechanics" of the game made for some fun times, but they were thrown into an empty, instanced, albeit pretty sandbox for the most part.
The Last Of Us Part 2 for me because i know what I'll be getting with it, some quality AAA Naughty Dog goodness. Spiderman looks cool and all but superheroes just go over my head. I need to see more to have any interest in Ghosts Of Tsushima and especially Death Stranding.
The non exclusive Cyberpunk 2077 is my most hyped over anything else, though.
honestly out of all those games the only one i have any interest in is Spider-Man so i voted for that
i would so laugh if none of these was at E3 though, imagine how much backlash they would get
Have zero interest in Spider-Man tbh. The rest I’ll probably buy day one
All
Ghost is the one I want to see more info on the most because after playing Infamous Second Son and loving it I am eager to see what they can do with Samurai and Ninjas. This reminds me that we really need another Tenchu game.
I have little interest in seeing anything about Spider-Man. Its not because I have little interest in the game, its just that I already have a LOT of information about it thanks to the GameInformer month.
Ghost of Tsushima is the game I am most interested in seeing as its the game I know the least about. Its concept had a LOT of appeal right away and now its whether or not it lives up to what I am hoping for in terms of the fundamental game-play. Story etc are less important at this point as those are aspects that I want to experience without spoilers - at most a brief synopsis is all that's needed if it helps set the scene and outlines the goal - kind of like reading the blurb on a book cover.
The Last of Us 2 is not so important to me because we already have some background and know the characters - thanks to the first game. I doubt many of us will need to be 'sold' on the game anyway. It could be interesting to see/hear what they may have changed or improved upon from the first game - whether its as linear and 'narrow' as the first, whether its as punctuated with 'segments' etc. Generally though, we have a 'reasonable' idea of what to expect because most of the set-up, the state of the world, the characters, the factions/enemies etc are already known from the original. Its not like H:ZD where GG had to explain who Aloy was, what time frame we are looking at etc.
Death Stranding is the one that I think needs the most time. There are obviously people that will buy it because its 'Kojima' and/or because the visuals we have seen so far impressed but there are a lot who still don't really know what the 'game' is. Even reading up on it doesn't help - an 'action' game (First person/third person? RPG elements or not, shooter or not? etc etc), Open World with MP function - like Destiny? the Division? Watchdogs? Its just so vague and 'weird/bizarre' at the moment that I think it needs the most time to explain to connect with the majority of gamers, something that they can relate it to so they have a better idea of what this is. 2yrs on and we still don't really know what this is.
Anyway, that's my thoughts on these 4 - 3 of which are almost certainly going to be bought and 1 that is hovering on the edge of the fence and close to falling on the side of 'leave'.
1. Ghosts of Tsushima - coz who doesn't like a good samurai story. Just hope they do keep it 100% realistic and don't do a '47 Ronin' on us.
2. Last of Us II - even though some of the original team are no longer at Naughty Dog, I still have faith this will be one of the best story driven games on the PS4 when all is said & done.
3. Spiderman - never been a huge fan of the old webslinger (compared to other superheroes) but if this game is as good as the original Arkham games and not a QTE fest, I may have to take a closer look once it's released.
4. Death Stranding - can't say I'm too fussed about this one at present based on what little I've seen. The overall premise & reveals so far just haven't grabbed me at all, but if the story & gameplay turn out to be decent I'm open to having my mind changed - the balls in your court Hideo !!
Dreams.

None of these games interest me that much to be honest. Death Standing is supposedly a horror game so that's a plus. I just don't know anything about it yet (well duh!). So is TLOU2 but I was kinda disappointed with the first one so...
I'm stuck on two choices. I'm really looking forward to seeing more Death Stranding, but there's also Ghost of Tsushima, which we actually have a description of even if there's no gameplay yet.
Can't say I'm "hyped" for any of them, but I am really interested in learning more about Death Stranding and Ghosts of Tsushima. I don't care to learn more about Spider-Man, as we already have a pretty solid sense of what the game will be like (maybe I'm wrong: Mario Odyssey didn't reveal its game-defining possession mechanic until the E3 trailer, so it's possible this could have something similar; I really doubt it, though).
I'll watch TLOU Part II gameplay, but I'm not expecting to like it. The first game was a massive bore. With that said, if ND really mixes up the gameplay, I suppose they could make something good. I really liked Uncharted 4, after all.
The one I'm iffiest about is obviously Death Stranding. The marketing has been great for capturing attention, but we don't really know much about the game. I'm hoping the online elements aren't too intrusive.
Don't care to see TLoU or Spider-Man. I've seen enough of the latter, and the former is just gonna be more Last of Us. Death Stranding and Ghost of Tsushima are the games I care about seeing. Death Stranding needs to do a lot to sell me though, because the more cinematic trailers showing nothing that they give us, the less I care about the game. My hype is basically non-existent at this point.
@RedMageLanakyn kind of agree with what you say about the whole sandbox/open-world thing. MGS going open world was really a mistake. Still, I'm sure that was Konami's fault too and hope Kojima does what he intends here at last.
@jdv95 I am a big history buff so I can relate to your comment a lot, but TloU2 is still my number one. Ghost of Tsushima is my second most anticipated game of course.
All these games are day one, but I voted for The Last of Us 2 as my most anticipated game because the first is a masterpiece, one of the best games ever made.
Anyway, still is really difficult to choose, Ghost of Tsushima looks awesome, I’m always interested in samurai and ninja settings, it’s also made by Sucker Punch, they are great.
I love Insomniac and Spidey, it’s impossible to not be hyped for Spider-Man, Marvel deserves a great game. Now I’m also really curious about Death Stranding, Kojima always delivers a great experience, I will not be interested only if it’s a mmo, but I believe this will not be the case here.
Can’t forget about Dreams and Days Gone too, Sony has the best exclusives without a doubt. ^^
@ThroughTheIris56 Great to see that someone here on the comments loves The Last of Us too, because some of the comments here, ugh...
Maybe if it was a battle royale game would be beloved by some folks here 😉
I'm super hyped for all these titles but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't most excited for The Last of Us, especially the nearer we get. I kinda just wanna play it more than anything and I hope they don't reveal too much in a way but I know I'll be glued to the screen as soon as we see the Naughty Dog logo.
That shows we didn't need a Last of Us part 2. Loved the first one, but it was enough.
Most excited for Ghost.
I'm mostly hyped for Spider-Man and The Last of Us II...really hoping both games don't let me down. I'm a big Marvel/Spider-Man fan and enjoyed TLoU.
As for Death Stranding and Ghost of Tsushima, I'll need to see actual gameplay first before I can decided whether or not I'll be interested.
Wonder how far along kojima's Mpreg game is...
Very hyped for TLOU II. Spider-Man reminds me of old school,God Of War which is quite interesting. I’m also very interested in Ghosts. Not at all interested in Death Stranding.
GoT and it wasn't even close. Really looking forward to that game!
Yawn..It seems like Sony has completely written off all first person games as far as producing them at least..What can i say its my fave genre.
I will be eagerly waiting for TLOU PT. II gameplay to be shown like a child.
If I had to rank these showings by presentation anticipation, TLOU PT. II > Ghost of Tsushima > Spider-Man >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Death Stranding
I have literally no interest in Death Stranding and we know very little of Ghost, so it was a toss up between Spidey and TLOU2 so I went with Spidey. For me that's incredible as I'm so put off with all the Marvel/comic book stuff these days; we're so over-saturated with the stuff and I find it all a bit 'meh'.
I need BB2!!!
Ghost of Tsushima for me too, narrowly - mainly because it's the one we've seen the least of so far. I'm ridiculously excited for all of them though!
TLOU-2, the first was great but I'm leaning more towards fun and away from grim as I get older.
Already pre-ordered Spider-man, the other one I'm keen on is Ghost of Tsushima.
Probably a weird one but I'm hoping to see more if Concrete Genie
Yakuza Kiwami 2 is my #1 of-course, however it's not listed so...
I plan on buying most of them at some point, but right now I'm mainly curious about Ghost of Tsushima. My expectations are quite high for it. I want a really immersive game-world, to feel like I'm in a classic Kurosawa film.
I kind of already know what the Last of Us II will be like to play, since I think it will be very similar to the first game. It's a game I know I'll enjoy, so paradoxically I'm not that curious about it.
Spider-Man looks real fun, but again I don't think it will be dramatically different from the other Spider-Man games I've played. Although, if there's a stronger focus on story and characters it would be a pleasant surprise.
I'm least curious about Death Stranding. The game seems to have rather strong online/co-op feature according to articles I've read, which is not exciting at all to me. I'm only interested in single-player gaming.
I voted TLOU 2 because I can’t wait for the game, but I am so very interested in Ghost of Tsushima.
i opted for ghost of tsushima. i'm pretty sure than TLoU2 will be great, and i could probably see kojima do an entire gameplay walkthrough of death stranding and would still be befuddled. spiderman i don't care that much about. not because i don't think insomniac won't make a good game.. i just don't care at all for the spiderman character.
i really enjoyed the first two infamous games, and whilst i didn't really care at all for second son, it was visually and technically very accomplished, so am keen to see what sucker punch can do with an entirely new IP and the feudal japan setting.
