Re: PS4's TV and Video Interface Revamped in the United States

RedMageLanakyn

@Tasuki On Roku the app would crash constantly, and the audio/video would be out of sync most of the time. I tried it on PC and it was a little better, but it would have the desync problems plus low quality/buffering issues on a solid ethernet connection. I tried it both at it's beginning and again about two months ago, and same issues even with different equipment and ISPs. The interface was really nice though, just not worth the $25-$30 a month I was paying for all the issues I had with it.

@rjejr I tried Vue for a few months, really couldn't get used to it's layout to be honest. Used it mostly on a Roku. Honestly I haven't really found a "good" live TV streaming service, I definitely won't touch Sling TV with a 40 foot cattle prod either!

I guess I'm fortunate to have a friend that recently gave me access to his Xfinity and Google Plus services, so i'm covered for all things TV and music related.

Re: Review: Far Cry 5 (PS4)

RedMageLanakyn

I'm not sure why anyone would want survival aspects added to a far cry game, it's pretty clear they're chasing the 80's and 90's blockbuster action movie feel since the third entry. I'm just glad there's full campaign co-op, really looking forward to that!

Re: Shadow of the Tomb Raider Launches 14th September on PS4

RedMageLanakyn

@PS_Nation Moreso the people who flat out refused to buy Rise of the Tomb Raider on PS4 because of the exclusivity deal. I think it's pretty pathetic for someone to get so riled up over something like that, especially when there was a plethora of quality games to play in that year of exclusivity. Plus it came with all the DLC, at a lower price.

Re: Review: Metal Gear Survive (PS4)

@Porco There's a lot of reviews and opinions I heavily disagree with here, and obviously you don't want to take someone's opinion as gospel, but saying the site's credibility is going down just because one reviewer liked a game and was able to overlook it's faults more so than what, 20 other people? I'd call that a bit too extreme. I could site a few reviews at some sister sites affiliated with this one that have done way, way worse things than hand out an 8 on a well written review, but it's not worth getting into really.

Re: Review: Secret of Mana (PS4)

RedMageLanakyn

Such a shame. It's obvious they've put some work into this, but not enough in the right places to justify a $40 price tag with the same glaring problems almost every review seems to point out. I'll stick with the classic for now.

Re: Soapbox: Dynasty Warriors 9 Broke My Heart

@Ralizah If I remember correctly, I spent about 12 hours when it first released, took a break for about a month, and thought "eh, I'll give it another shot" and was done after another 12-13 hours. Definitely disappointing, though as others have mentioned above, the heartbreak I felt with Andromeda may never heal.

Re: Soapbox: Dynasty Warriors 9 Broke My Heart

This is pretty much how I felt when FF13 came out. Having played almost every FF leading up to that point, the fanboy glasses came off around the 25 hour mark. This is part of the reason I have yet to play more than 20 minutes of FFXV, i'm worried I will be let down again, and I don't think my heart could handle another FF letdown.

Re: Soapbox: I Miss the Mystery of Video Games

RedMageLanakyn

@get2sammyb I guess for me since I play on PC a lot, I'm still able to discover some gems, and since I have a two hour demo, it feels a lot less risky. I'd say in the past two years I've found at least a dozen indie games that have blown my expectations away, and I knew nothing about them before I picked them up.
As a kid, spending $60-$80 on a game and having it turn out to be a dud was just painful. So i guess today I'm getting the best of both worlds!

Re: Is the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection Sneaking to PS4?

RedMageLanakyn

@adf86 @Porco I get it, you guys aren't konami fans, neither am I really. But what they're doing is making them money, and they'll continue to do those things regardless.

You can always look for another job while you're working at your current one, it really is that simple. People will complain about a job but stay there because they're comfortable. It's hard to break habit, but can be done.

Re: Is the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection Sneaking to PS4?

RedMageLanakyn

@Porco Good for you. I know when to not argue with a Kojima diehard, so i'll back out. For the record, I acknowledge Konami's bad business moves in regards to how they treated staff, and i'm not defending them, but you know what? If I work somewhere and am treated badly, I find another job. If their work conditions are as bad as some have claimed, they'll be out of business soon, but according to their numbers, they're thriving based on the business decisions they've made in the past few years. Weird, huh?

@adf86 They gave him over 4 years and an 80 million dollar budget. He broke multiple deadlines that were set for him and his team as he tried to make sense out of all the "mature and taboo themes" he wanted to put in the game. Simply put, the game got put out the way it did because they gave him too much control, and he spent (wasted) millions and years of time and hadn't even come up with a complete game. You can say F konami all day, but i think the people that treat Kojima as a God are far worse, and the vocal majority.
