Fallout 76 got an info blowout during Bethesda's E3 2018 press conference, as expected. So, let's run down all of the big details to start with.
Yes, this is a multiplayer Fallout title. You'll be able to both fight alongside and against other players, all in the same open world wasteland. It sounds like the game requires an online connection, and it all runs on dedicated servers, according to Bethesda boss Todd Howard.
However, you don't have to play with others. Howard made it clear that you can play alone if you want, and all of your progress will carry over when you decide to play with others.
There's also a heavy emphasis on settlement building -- or base building -- and you're able to build anywhere on the map. Other than that, it looks a lot like Fallout 4 in terms of general gameplay. There was no sign of V.A.T.S., though.
And, as predicted, Fallout 76 launches later this year, on the 14th November. Will you be picking it up? Join your fellow vault dwellers in the comments section below.

I'm going to have to wait until more info gets out on the game.
I'd like to get it for the usual solo play, but Todd saying a player will have an easier time teaming up doesn't sound promising on that front.
I'll stay skeptical for a quite a while.
I don't know...all that mmo/mp talk made me like fallout even less than I did when I was bored with fallout 4! Fallout New Vegas was something that they will never reach again probably...
You gotta cover MechaWolf Chaos XD...best game of E3 so far hypeeeeeeeeee
The Todd Howard Formula.
Step 1. Build a giant map
Step 2.....................
Step 3. Profit
@Enuo It just works
I like how they made fun of themselves, knowing their games are buggy, but let's be real here; no amount of beta testing will make this game NOT busted from launch until it shuts down a year from it's release date.
So it's a post apocalypse Monster Hunter World?
Oh look, it's late here too.
I have a million and one questions about this
Wow does this have the potential of being a giant mammoth fuster cluck. I am thinking frame rates like Far Harbor and frequent server disconnects and crashing.
Then there is that the vast majority of Fallout lovers like Fallout as a single player game. I will guess that less than 3% of Fallout players like what Todd Howard said about Fallout 76.
I would prefer Fallout 76 to be like GTA5. Single player playable off line and a mp online mode that uses the same map but with a different story.
Time will tell but right now my confidence is low for Fallout 76.
Oh look hype.
Aaaaaand it's gone.
@ShogunRok So we have confirmed single player, but will there be an ongoing plot story mode like Fallout 4?
Or more like Destiny/Anthem's story missions?
Sigh. I'm really not keen on the multiplayer aspect but damn, if this trailer doesn't send a shiver down my spine
Pre ordering for the helmet and map that "*** ing glows in the dark!" lol !!!!
Game looks fantastic. I cant wait
Meh they ruined it with the MP.
I think the game looks amazing can't wait for it, might be a game i actually pre order
I'm like 17% interested in this. Even a solid single player campaign wouldn't raise it above 62%. Oh, Fallout, where have you gone...
@ToddlerNaruto We don't really know for sure. Todd Howard said that it'll have quests and "stories" for you to follow like a regular Fallout title, but the emphasis is most definitely on a multiplayer experience.
I tried to just roll with it in till they said PVP. That killed any excitement I had. I don't want to get killed by someone 20 levels higher than me while I'm trying to do my own thing...
i realy hope they don't add MP/coop in TES 6.
bethesda hes been going to much in the MP direction with TES online and now this.
So, it's the Elder Scrolls Online but set in a post-apocalyptic world?
Exit the vault ready to set off on your post apocalyptic adventure but then, bang! - get killed immediately by another vault dweller. Respawn. Head East to explore the lovely West Virginia, bang! - get scoped by another vault dweller. Respawn.
Not my idea of Fallout fun.
It’s optional 4 player onlind co-op right?
They confirmed the full game is playable offline.
@darkswabber while you can play it solo the focus is on online.
even todd kinda said the online would be the best playstyle or something like that.
Bit dubious over some of the multiplayer elements but colour me interested.
This could only work for single player people if you have the option of not letting random people enter your game.
@jdv95 hope it’s like borderlands where enemies become stronger for each player but just strong enough that each added player makes it a bit easier than 1 player less.
I’ve been buying Fallout day one since 3 but think I’ll just be renting this one to see how it is. It’s already going to be an expensive 3 months at the end of this year for me with BF 5, RDR 2, Hitman 2 and Just Cause 4, with each game costing £80, bar RDR 2 at £90, due to getting Ultimate, Gold and Deluxe Editions all digitally.
@ShogunRok Mehhh guess I'll keep following updates and see the eventual review in November.
I pre-ordered the Power Armor edition. Even if the game sucks and I end up hating it, I'll still have a badass helmet! <3
