Re: Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled's First Seasonal Grand Prix Content Outlined

Onion

@quinnyboy58

Hey, it's one of the few online games I'm actually good at, let me boast! I'm normally crap at anything online, but these kart racers are my jam and I played the original CTR so much as a kid, my skills were crazy.

I really wish Mario Kart 8 held online events like this, I got pretty bored of winning for no reason other than to see some random number go up. I'm not likely to get CTR in time to enjoy this event either due to what a packed month July is. From a technical POV I was not impressed with this game too much but I like all the support they're giving it.

Re: Hands On: Days Gone's Free Arcade DLC Is an Addictive Addition

@get2sammyb @BearsEatBeets

Oh, it's not timed? Awesome! Good to know, thanks. I'm busy with Bloodstained and other games right now, so I don't have time for Days Gone. After Gravity Rush 2, I just don't know what to expect from games anymore. That game had a bunch of online features yanked offline before I even had a chance to play it.

@ellsworth004

I think you completely misunderstood my point, this game didn't get said free stuff until a significant amount of time had passed since the launch. Many people (including myself) have moved on from the game and either have no interest in going back yet or don't have time. It has nothing to do with being free or not. It doesn't matter anyway since apparently this content isn't going anywhere, so by the time I'm able to return, it should still be there. I thought this was self-explanatory but apparently not, I was not bashing the game in the slightest but merely stating that it sucks for those of us who have moved on from the game now. Would have been nice to have tried all of this stuff out before I shelved it, but it'll still be there I suppose. Is that really so hard to understand?

I'm basically saying "This looks really cool, shame I couldn't have experienced it when I was actually playing the game cause now I've moved on to other things." I'm with everyone that this is a cool addition in an age full of microtransactions and all that. Just sucks for me that they roll all this stuff out after I've already completed it and uninstalled it from my console.

Re: Hands On: Days Gone's Free Arcade DLC Is an Addictive Addition

Onion

It's cool that they're busting out so much support for the game, but as someone who bought the game relatively early in the launch, I feel a bit jipped that this stuff wasn't already included. I have no desire to go back to the game this soon after completing it and I fear all these goodies will be gone by the time I feel like playing again.

Ah well.

Re: Away: The Survival Series Trailer Swaps Between Creatures and Scraps with Scorpions

Onion

Kinda remains me of Evo for SNES, with less emphasis on evolution obviously. (That would probably set some of the crazies off.)

Curious to see how the swapping mechanic plays out and whether or not the game will include any kind of progression system such as skill trees, leveling, etc. or if there will be any kind of goal to achieve.

As long as the game is better than Life of Black Tiger, I think this will turn out fairly well. I'm especially intrigued by the ability to play as the spider and preying mantis.

Re: Cyberpunk 2077 Will Have In-Depth Romance, Much Like The Witcher 3

Onion

Not trying to bash Witcher 3, but I don't see how that game's romance options were "in depth". It mostly boiled down to Triss or Yennefer and there was no real depth involved other than how it impacted the game's ending. Unless there's some branching storyline I'm not aware of, the impact of what you did or said involving romance was rather minimal.

Re: Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night - The Finest Castlevania Game Never Made

Onion

Now to decide if I want the Switch or PS4 version... I hope Digital Foundry gives a breakdown on all the possible versions of this game soon.

I'm also a tad concerned that the shard system is just a rehashed Soul System from Aria of Sorrow and onwards, but it sounds like Igarashi broke out of his shell a bit with this one and tried new things.

I wanna play Judgement too. Just not enough cash and time to go around!

Re: Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled - An Unapologetically Retro Racing Revival

Onion

@Heavyarms55

Same for me, MK8 hits 60fps, kart customization, and other features CTR doesn't have. Really, the only thing CTR has over it might be the Diddy Kong Racing-style adventure mode. Now that I'm hearing about the Switch version having some launch issues and all versions having some weird AI rubber banding, I'm totally passing on this. I own the original CTR anyway.

Re: New Final Fantasy VII Remake Screenshots Take a Tour of Midgar

Onion

I'm really glad they're focusing so much on Midgar for the first release, as I felt that was the most underwhelming part of the game but had so much potential. Midgar as a setting is great, if not very un-final fantasy. I've always wanted to see more emphasis on Midgar, and the remake looks like it's going to do just that.

Of course as a kid, I was blown away when I left Midgar and realized there was a whole world out there to explore, but now I find myself wanting to spend more time in Midgar.

Re: EA Believes Loot Boxes Are Ethical, Deems Them Surprise Mechanics

Onion

I still feel like the only person on earth who doesn't completely flip their lid about loot boxes. I mean, they don't impact anything. EA just happens to be one of those publishers that makes them mandatory.

Having recently gotten into a mobile gacha game though, I do understand how people can get sucked into these games, especially the more exploitative ones. I think a government crackdown on some of the biggest offenders might be a good idea. The game I play is very generous and I still ended up throwing about 70 dollars into it when a specific banner came up. I can only imagine how much someone might spend on one of the more scummier publishers like EA, who have a knack for making the loot boxes mandatory in some way.

@JoeBlogs

Haha, yeah I know you're tired of it being brought up, sorry. It's a dead horse anyway.

@IsolationQueen

I have no clue what you're going on about, but I hope you find the help you desperately need. You're carrying around way too much anger towards males.

EDIT: Also, you're way wrong about the gender choice thing. Games have been allowing you to choose your gender for decades. I'm getting the feeling you don't actually play very many video games and simply want to troll or whatever you're trying to do. Gender choice dates back as far as The Sims. Games like Harvest Moon have allowed you to choose genders as well, though for some time it was a choice locked to a specific version of the game. Various RPGs such as Soul Nomad, Legend of Mana, pretty much every Pokemon after Crystal, etc have allowed you to choose a female and those date as far back as PS2 and PS1. I'm sure if given time I could go much further back. Some games focus a purely female lead character such as Burning Force, Metroid, Parasite Eve, Shantae, Mighty Switch Force, etc.

I like gender choice in games but not every game needs it. The idea that every game should have gender choice is simply insane. Many games focus on delivering a specific narrative which would be impossible with gender choice. You're just being silly.

Some of the comments being said here are frankly some of the stupidest, most toxic things I have read on PushSquare, majority of which is being said by people who signed up purely to troll and spew hate. The comparison to Nazis was bad, but @IsolationQueen's posts really take the cake as some of the most idiotic crap I've ever seen being spewed here. Actually it borders on being the dumbest thing I have ever read on the entire internet, but that's a close race right there. I have a feeling this particular gem of a human will be meeting the banhammer very soon. When you have to end your argument with a completely irrelevant shot in the dark about how your life is better than someone else's (that you "met" on the internet no less) then you've got some real issues that need working on. I'm not even saying that to be mean, get some help.

Re: Tifa's Chest Size Reduced in Final Fantasy VII Remake Per Square Enix Ethics Department Request

Onion

Makes sense, Zero Suit Samus had a breast reduction as well and I think it makes sense given that these are extremely athletic characters. If you look at real life athletic women, they tend to have smaller busts. Tifa's chest is still a pretty good size and I imagine the "orthopedic underwear" is still in the game in some form as a joke about her breast size. SE has been slowly dialing back her breast size anyway to make it easier to take her seriously. SquareEnix may have worded it wrong though, as it sounds like they're trying to say large breasts don't exist. Other than how they worded it, I'm fine with this.

Re: E3 2019: Square Enix Wants Its Entire Library to Be Digital, But Can't Always Find the Code

Onion

The idea of losing an entire game's code was initially very silly to me, but it's becoming an increasingly common story. Even Nintendo has apparently lost source code. Nonetheless, can you guys go look for Parasite Eve 1 and 2 and remaster those? Valkyrie Profile would be nice too. I wouldn't complain about SaGA Frontier 1 and 2 either. I already paid 40 dollars for your Mana Collection. I'd gladly pay another 40 or however much you'd charge for any of these.

Re: E3 2019: That Guy Who Was Offered a Free Copy of Cyberpunk 2077 Turned It Down

Onion

I don't really understand what all the fuss is about. This is nothing but good for everyone, no one was hurt by this. Projekt Red got some good PR out of it, a donation was made, and the guy still got a free copy of the game if I read correctly. Good spotlight for Keanu Reeves too.

Did he put them on the spot a bit? Yeah, there's no denying that. It's still good PR for the developer though, and will no doubt result in the game earning even more sales. Projekt Red built their reputation on things like this, being one of the few developers out there who seem to genuinely care about their fanbase. There's a reason people rave about these guys. They have a solid reputation and that rep only increased from this whole event.

Re: E3 2019: Panzer Dragoon: Remake Gets the 'Net in a Flap

Onion

You know the Nintendo E3 is good when even Pushsquare starts talking about the games there.

But yeah, seeing Panzer Dragoon moving so fast was really something. I've been a fan of this game for years and seeing it move so smoothly and with such bright colors... It was really something. However the base game is a tad short so I imagine they're either going to need to add new features, combine Zwei content, or just massively drop the price.

Re: E3 2019: Konami Is Making a 'Special Announcement' on Tuesday

Onion

I know everyone is joking about it, but I actually wouldn't mind another anniversary collection/HD Collection of some kind. While I haven't bought any of them yet due to owning most of the original games anyway, I plan to do so at some point in the near future. While I've talked smack about the Igavania games from time to time on Nintendolife, I actually would like to see them do something like GBA Collection or DS Collection for Castlevania. A MGS HD Collection would be cool too.

Knowing Konami though, they'll throw a "Lords of Shadow" collection at us and walk away laughing.

Re: Rocksteady Games Skipping E3 2019

Onion

@JJ2

Really? That would be interesting.

@Sinton

I"m with ya there. Rocksteady could do an amazing TMNT game. The battles with Nightwing in Arkham Knight prove to me that they could do some amazing brawls.

@SoulChimera

If that's the case, then my mistake.

Re: Bubsy: Paws on Fire - Put a Paws on Buying This Platformer

Onion

Jeez so many responses to that one remark, haha! Bad pun at the start of the post probably does undercut what I was trying to convey a bit but my point pretty much still stands. Someone above mentioned Ape Escape as well so I'd add that to my list of franchises I'd like to come back. At this point, I think even Gex would be better for a revival than Bubsy.

@makoshichi

Oh yeah I know, I actually bought and beat that game. That game is getting pretty old itself now though. I think it's kinda sad that Rocket Knight only had a brief revival in the form of some digital game that most people didn't talk about but Bubsy has gotten what, TWO games? What the heck is going on here?

Now I'm just waiting to see if they try to bring back Bubsy 3D.
