So much butt hurt over this still. Right now at GameStop the Jackie Robinson edition is $85. That comes with a PS4 disc and a digital code for PS5. By this version and sell the disc for $35-40 and your net cost is discounted.
For those that think this is an April Fools joke, it isn’t. They have been working away on this project for a few years now. It’s been in early access on Steam/PC for a bit. Really impressive work for a small dev team of 4 people.
@djlard the bulk of the single player story content is gone. You can still play most of what’s there solo...though for some stuff you’ll get paired with other people.
@Octane the base game is FTP, so don’t pay for it if you’ve never played. Beyond Light is paid DLC-ish meaning some of the gameplay changes and areas in the game spill over to the FTP version.
After another 1500 hours in D2, I had to tap out. The direction they have taken this game with the seasonal content pass, the FOMO, the sun setting and vaulting of content just to recycle in old D1 content....none of it sits well with me. I want to enjoy this game still but I just can’t at the moment.
@Octane he might be using better headphones than the clip in ones that were packed in. So that’s an additional cable. If he has any other accessories like a haptic vest, that’s another cable. It can be tricky. I have 3 cables when I play but I’ve made cable guides on my vest that keep wires at bay while giving me freedom to flail about lol.
@OneManDroid I’m betting PSVR2 will be similar to the Oculus Quest but have more processing power. Only time will tell though, and even if it has a wired connection, I’ll still buy it. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed PSVR as it currently is.
@madcow78 haptic feedback vest...check out Woojer. I picked up their vest on Indiegogo and it’s amazing!! Decent battery life and “feel” great in games like Pistol Whip.
@S1ayeR74 you don’t think there’s an equal amount of rubbish being said about Sony’s strategy? I mean in this article it’s Phil Spencer shoveling the crap towards Sony, but he’s just doing his job, trying to lure people to XSX. @bearseatbeets is correct that Gamepass has turn into such a cash cow for them. So when Phil says he doesn’t want to force people into a new gen of hardware it’s because their current base of Gamepass users are still a gen behind.
Gotta keep moving forward and pushing boundaries and limitations. The only way to take full advantage of the features of the PS5 is to solely focus on it. If some other dev wants to take a PS5 game and port it down that’s an option, but I hope Sony focuses on the PS5 once it launches.
@Menchi I’m not gonna bash your opinion. Having played a bit of Alyx and having played this demo, you can’t compare the two. Alyx has a depth that PSVR can’t touch because of the hardware limitations. That said, the Iron Man demo was equally impressive for other reasons. You “felt” like Iron Man. The flight control and combat works really well and is somewhat natural. Both games are great on their own, no comparisons are needed since they are in their own space.
The movement scheme kills this game for me. I haven’t experienced any tracking issues yet, but the damned movement ruins it. Maybe after a few more hours I’ll get used to it....but to everyone else that hasn’t purchased, wait for a sale is my recommendation.
@s22222 I neither have the time nor the energy to go thru the fine print of a EULA to find a specific line to address this, but almost every EULA has a line about this. If it isn’t in YouTube’s, then it’s in Sony’s. When you’re talking about publications giving spoilers and talking about spoilers, it’s typically after something has launch and has been in the wild and in the hands of the public. When you factor in the method of how TLOU2 spoilers were acquired...via theft, then what’s the issue with them protecting their property by having posts taken down?
@s22222 well if you read all of YouTube’s user agreement, or any user agreement that has public comment response sections, you’ll find that the original poster of any video can be held responsible for some of the comments. So if they posted a video And it had comments that were in violation of the user agreement, or infringed on copyrights, then it can be removed. Sounds like you’re trying to make more of this than what it is.
@s22222 I never said I was correct or incorrect, just offered a possible explanation of what could have been a reason for the censoring. Like I said I’m avoiding everything TLOU2 related to steer clear of spoilers.
@s22222 I’m steering clear of most things TLOU2 related to avoid spoilers etc so I’m not sure what you’re specifically referring to. That said, if Sony and ND are censoring or filing copyright claims, it could be as simple as the YouTube videos, whether they show footage or not, are using TLOU2 logos or ND logos without permission.
Gimme a mashup of this and sports champions....and then put it in VR. PSVR is in serious need of sports games. Really enjoy Everybody’s Golf, Dream Match Tennis and 2MD Football. Those titles are excellent and really show how sports can translate to the VR medium.
I’ll play the story part but the seasonal structure they are using is useless in my opinion. Anything you grind for is good for that season and pretty useless the next, which brings a “why even bother” aspect.
Love seeing all the PSVR enthusiasm. That said, anyone posting here have Creed and can help me get the PVP trophy for the platinum?? If so you can add me PSN shafedog247
@Stragen8 you are definitely missing out. Superhot, Everybody’s Golf, Sprint Vector, Blood and Truth are must haves in my opinion. The sleeper game to play is 2MD Football. I’ve had this since it launched and play it daily. Everyone that enjoys VR and sports needs to try it. It was created by a two person dev team and they nailed the throwing mechanic better than most. Is it perfect no, but it’s playability is fantastic. These are the games PSVR needs....sports sports sports. There’s plenty of shooters, horror and puzzle games but few quality sports titles.
@get2sammyb I completely agree. This will be something Sony has to figure out. The PS4 UI crawls at times. I’ve tried rebuilding the database and clearing the cache and they are only a temporary bandaid that lasts a few days. I suppose in the end as long as games still load stupid fast on PS5 then that’s all that will matter.
Nice review. This title had me interested but the fact that there is a season pass makes me want to wait for a major sale. $30 base game $50 game with season pass.
@LieutenantFatman no reason these shouldn’t work for the PS5 since it’s just a usb dingle connection. Was waiting to hear confirmation on the battery life. Mine are now ordered.
@ellsworth004 @1_W1NG3D_4NG3L you think you guys have it bad?.....I’m a life long Bengals fan. The equivalent of banging my head against a wall 6 months of the year.😂😂
This expansion is a mixed bag for me. The Vex invasion stuff is a better version of Menagerie and the moon is a fun trip down memory lane, but for all their sales pitching and promises of taking the Destiny franchise to new places, it was ironic to go back to a D1 location. Since this expansion was likely under production while still associated Activision, I didn’t expect it to be the game changer they promised and it isn’t. It’s simply more content and tweaks to some game systems to shift the grind around. The most annoying thing about this franchise is when Bungie stands up and says “hey we want you to play your style and feel powerful” but they always control the narrative. They nerf and buff weapons/abilities to steer the community to play the game how THEY see it. It’s still a fun game, especially with friends but it will be a while before we actually see what life post Activision feels like.
Need more quality sports games that have head to head online play. I’ve been clamoring for a VR Sports Champions for a while. Everybody’s Golf is great, 2MD VR Football is fantastic, someone needs to step up and make more sports titles happen.
This was an event I had always wanted to attend. Nearly pulled the trigger last year on airfare, thankfully I didn’t since Sony didn’t attend, but now what’s the point. Not a fan of the whole streamer/influencer point of view.
@Porco IGN is awful anymore. They seem to rarely even bother with reviews let alone previews or “gone gold” announcements....but hey, they had Comic-Con covered 😂😂
@redd214 since the accounts are stored on Bungie’s servers, cross save can include PS4. Plus Playstation’s Twitter account also “confirmed” cross save. I guess the streamers were really clamoring for it.
@get2sammyb You weren’t kidding when you said “soon” lol! I’ve had this preordered for a while and am really looking forward to it. Do you think it will be a PSVR system seller?
@get2sammyb I fully agree with this. The new Everybody’s Golf is a perfect example. Taking screen shots and viewing them out of the headset, they look awful low rez and flat. But while in the headset during game play the visuals are really good and pop. When they release a new version that’s wireless, it’s a day one purchase for me. VR is just too good not to.
@get2sammyb are there still lots of matches that result in disconnects? That was my main issue with this game at launch. So many times I’d be in the match often shooting at an opponent, only to get booted back to main screen because the host left. It ruined what could be a great game for me.
