@DarkTron I was going off info from GamertagVR who had hands on time with it. Originally he said the box didn’t include them. If they are included then it’s a great deal and maybe Sony should follow suit 🤣
@DarkTron it’s actually worse of a deal since it doesn’t come with Quest 3 controllers. It’s also the “cheaper model” 3S with the crappier lenses inside. This is essentially just to play Xbox games via cloud streaming on a giant screen. If you want to play Quest VR games you’ll have to pay at least $120 more for the controllers.
Edit: my earlier comment was based on a clip I watched from GamertagVR that stated touch controllers are not included. Turns out they are, so I was wrong and this is actually a decent deal especially if you enjoy VR. The Quest 3 is still better than a 3s though.
The game had a lot of sizzle but no steak. As “bad” as it was it was good enough for a sequel, I mean even Knack got a sequel. Sometimes Sony is all over the map when it comes to green-lighting projects. Probably could have made the entire trilogy for less than what Sony paid for Concord and its studio.
I don’t believe this says anything about the “state of VR” these games are older titles not playable on Quest 3 or Quest 3s or even Quest 2. They can be played via link cable or Air link on PC of course thru those headsets but Insomniac would really need to update the games to make them playable on stand alone headsets. It’s money for Sony in they update the games at this point and they could be ported to PSVR2 as well.
Games and game development budgets have skyrocketed. This seems to be causing too much fear in the cost associated with releasing an unknown IP at the moment, which is holding back creativity. Sony can’t afford to take wild chances on games like Tearaway or Concrete Genie. This represents a massive challenge when you consider they will wait years and spend massive amounts to get Naughty Dog to release 1 game.
@AverageGamer no one that I know can play with the stock strap or without swappable battery packs. I guess if you’re just sitting there in VR Chat then maybe the stack strap could work but that actual games like Racket Club, Dungeons of Eternity, AC Nexus, that require more forceful movements need more than the stock strap can offer. I’m also not a streamer nor do I have a channel. I do game with some people that do both though and it’s not uncommon for our sessions to last 5, 6, 7 hours or longer.
@AverageGamer hard disagree. The stock strap is terrible. If it was great or even passable, companies like BOBOVR and Kiwi Design wouldn’t exist. Unless you’re only going thru and playing it until the battery is dead after 95 minutes then maybe you can live with the stock strap. As someone that games almost primarily in VR at this point the 3rd party straps and batteries are required.
@TrickyDicky99 I wouldn’t go as far as saying it would be useless, it would prove the viability of VR in general. They would sell more headsets and potentially port some of their games to PC.
@TrickyDicky99 the quest 3 absolutely needs a different head strap from that start. Where PSVR2 failed is that they made it such a closed system. If they have made it PCVR compatible then it would have sold much better.
@TrickyDicky99 I’ll agree to disagree on PsVR2 needing an additional comfort option and you don’t “need” the charging station for the controllers. I have a giant, perfectly round dome of a head so comfort with the Sony headset isn’t an issue lol.
@TrickyDicky99 well as an owner of several VR platforms I can tell you that with Quest 2 or Quest 3, by the time you spend the necessary additional money to get a good 3rd party head strap and additional batteries to make them comfortable use and play them for hours, you’ve surpassed the cost of PSVR2.
@get2sammyb when I say he had the luck of following Layden I mean that as the public face. Ryan might have the actual role of president but he never connected with the audience he served in the way Layden did imo. Layden was the face that led the way to PlayStation’s peak at the time and was well liked and respected by media and consumers alike.
I’m actually glad that Ryan is leaving. He had the benefit of following the ground work and success created my Shawn Layden. Ryan seemed to lack the enthusiasm to be the PlayStation leader.
@IOI best in class? Audio is highly subjective and for me Sony is far from best in any class of audio, so maybe this helps the gaming line but they had a chance to buy Sennheiser back in 2021. That would have helped them in all phases of audio. Instead Sennheiser was sold off to a hearing aid company for a bargain at $240 million.
If price is the biggest issues then you should recommend waiting for a sale and not ding the game for its cost. It has arguably more gameplay length than Red Matter 2, but you didn’t ding that one for cost. Both are a single play through due to the nature of being puzzle games. At least it’s a free upgrade.
This reads as an opinion piece lol. I’m indifferent but find it curious that there are essentially two titles with the same style of gameplay. This and Marathon are squad based looting PvP games. No one seems bothered by Marathon tho….
@Nepp67 I think it’s odd that the sets are limited to character class. There should be a version for each outfit for each character. Easy way for even more money.
@TrickyDicky99 I’d hardly say it’s on life support. 20 millions Quest lifetime sales and Quest 3 launching later this year, Vive Elite XR coming soon as well. That’s not factoring in people already working to mod the PSVR2 for PC use. Plenty happening in the VR space. Give PSVR2 a chance to get going before just writing it off 20 days into its lifecycle.
@TrickyDicky99 even if it’s a gen of Indie games, so what? Some of the best games come from Indie studios. Studios that can freely think outside the box. We are 3 weeks into the life of the headset so it’s a bit early to say it will only be Indie games. How about reserving judgement for now. Besides, Low-Fi, coming in a few months, is reason enough to buy the headset. You’ll call it an Indie, I’ll call it a passion project created by a solo dev in his spare time over the last few years. These are the kinda of devs and talent that need support anyway.
@Art_Vandelay it is working….for PS5. PS5 is killing it, because it’s advertised everywhere on everything by everyone. Social media, streamers, TV etc. Just depending on word of mouth for PSVR2 from random influencers doesn’t always work, at least not for me. I don’t follow them because it’s not always clear what or how they have been paid to say, sell and support whatever. One way or another influencers are getting paid for their input and I think it can sway their opinion. It may not always be the case but that’s just how I feel. That’s why a dedicated marketing push from Sony is more important in my opinion. I agree that VR needs to be experienced but listening to a YouTuber isn’t an experience for someone deciding. So for me a State of Play does more than JoeBobYoutubeGuy telling me they think it’s great. A State of Play tells me Sony is committed to PSVR2.
@get2sammyb hype from everyone but Sony. Seems they are content to let influencers and gaming sites do all the work selling it. I wanna hear more from Sony.
@thefourfoldroot1 it’s up to the devs to make games that take advantage of the more powerful hardware and advantages of the PSVR2. Truant Pixel is a 3 person dev team. What they have done with this and their other title Runner is flat out amazing. A game like this, the mechanics matter first and foremost, and this dev nails it.
@get2sammyb tennis games peaked at Virtual Tennis on the Dreamcast. Someone just needs to revive that series. It played wonderfully. I know they had some sequels but none of them matched the original IMO.
@BoldAndBrash well if Sony didn’t tank when they put PS Now on PC in 2016, then releasing a few exclusives (which PS Now also had) isn’t going to bring them down. The idea is to draw them into the console ecosystem. Short term money as you call it, leads to long term return on investments. And I’m pretty sure they are playing the long game.
@themightyant unfortunately most of Japan Studio staff was not retained. You are correct about them reforming into Asobi but sadly so many lost their jobs.
@BoldAndBrash you do realize how off base your petition is? The petition says he’s only out to make money, please point to a business that isn’t out to make money…..I’ll wait. Also, it says he doesn’t want to expand the fan base???? What do you think the move to PC does? Anyone that bought God of War on PC and wants the sequel with our waiting a few years needs to buy a PlayStation….thus expanding the fan base and community. The only one out of touch is you my friend.
@BoldAndBrash you act like he’s always been in charge lol. He’s only been head of PlayStation since 2019. He was in marketing prior. Evolution closed well before then and they were trying to make Driveclub a live service game back then….which again was before Ryan was in charge. It’s Hulst and Guerilla’s call on Killzone not Ryan’s. Also, according to the director of Days Gone, it was his immediate management that nixed a sequel, not Ryan and Hulst.
Can people stop bringing up Insomniac in these buyout conversations? Insomniac didn’t even have 200 employees at the time of the buyout. Bungie has 1000. Insomniac, outside of a few random titles, has only been on PlayStation. Bungie has been multi platform since leaving MS. The two cannot be compared.
@get2sammyb but as this article says, Sony is pushing for live service games, on the console side, Bungie has excelled at this. It’s that expertise that will pay dividends going forward. I think people are too stuck on what Bungie is doing today and not looking past that. They are a studio of close to 1000 people. The majority of which are supposedly work on their next IP “Matter”
@get2sammyb bro you’re playing both sides of this lol. How can you not understand the Bungie purchase (which was a good price) and also love the future of some live service games on PlayStation? One will directly effect the other. You crack me up.
What is this article? Y’all sounding like spoiled children at Christmas that get all the toys but still aren’t happy. Something has changed with Pushsquare, and it’s not for the better.

Re: Dev Behind PSVR2's Firewall Ultra Blames the Lack of Virtual Reality Support for Closure
