Re: Talking Point: Is E3 Still Relevant?

MistressTonberry

I think it's very much a next year will be the decider thing. When Sony pulled out of 2019 then I really wasn't bothered about this year's E3 compared to my hype for last year's (which mostly disappointed me, so that was probably another factor), but catching up on all the E3 news past couple of days I was pleasantly surprised. Though that's mostly because I'm a big JRPG fan and love remasters/remakes so that I can have everything available on one Sony system like the games organisation freak I am! 😄 Also, Cyberpunk coming so soon was a great surprise announcement as well as Outer Worlds and FFVII Ep1 release dates too, and it also helped that Nintendo had a much better E3 as I'll probably finally get a Switch around Black Friday. This year it was a case for me of the "blessed is she who expected nothing" proverb I reckon. Though I think if I had sat through all the broadcasts and not just read Push Square, Nintendo Life, and watched my favourite Youtubers break the news down after the fact, my patience would have failed me early on!

Re: Soapbox: 7/10 Is a Bad Review Score? The World's Gone Mad

MistressTonberry

Bit late to the comments party, but agree with this article and I sympathise that it must be annoying that so many nowadays don't consider 7 to be a good score when the grading criteria literally says it is "good". I'd be fine with you guys removing the numbered score and just putting their corresponding words in capital letters as the review grade, as I think folk will soon get used to the lack of a number, so long as the grade is easy to locate on the page.

Re: Poll: Did You Buy Days Gone? And Are You Enjoying It?

MistressTonberry

Planning on getting this for my brother's Christmas present as it will've been patched loads by then and I know he'd enjoy this a lot more than me. After reading the review - NOTHING to do with the score, which was good! 😜 - then I think a combination of the survival stuff, having to deal with hordes of freakers on the fly, and the guns being sucky, makes it much less my kind of game, though I can definitely see myself borrowing this from my brother at some point next year for the gorgeous looking open world and the story. I'm also very pleased that it has sold so well 😀

Re: Poll: One Year Old Today, Have Your Thoughts on God of War Changed?

MistressTonberry

Not commented on here for a while as been so busy lately so just been binge reading the pushsquare articles once every week instead, but I need to say I love the "questions must be axed" pun! 😂 As for the poll then I was blown away by the game last April, and if anything then now I have nostalgia glasses on as well, so am even more fond of the game retrospectively (definitely want to new game plus it at some point - probably just before the inevitable sequel releases). Was actually just waxing lyrical with my brother the other night about what a full package of a game it was...also how annoying Sigrun was! 😉

Re: Days Gone Will Get Post-Launch DLC, But Details Are Underwraps

MistressTonberry

@Octane Haha, I don't stray into the multiplayer realm often, but I'm fine with MP DLC for the majority who do; I reckon Days Gone could produce some good MP if they follow The Last of Us' formula for example...might end up tempting me to renew my PS Plus! As for challenge maps, then I really enjoyed them in the Arkham series, even though I was late to the party playing all of those games. I definitely want this game, but still undecided on the preorder, because like you suggest it can be annoying when story dlc is woven into the main campaign at a later date.

Re: PlayStation Goes Hard on Captain Marvel Advertising

MistressTonberry

@rjejr You can be a nice person who believes in equal opportunities and stuff without being an SJW, so you yourself don't necessarily have to fall into that "SJW" category just because you are anti-discrimination and believe in equal opportunities (which is something I agree with too when fairly implemented); I think the two have unfortunately become confused these past few years and now people who aren't even true "SJWs" (folk who rarely truly care about anything except self-stroking ego) feel that they are also being called out for caring about their fellow human beings when they're not, which is a bit crazy really and a very sad state of affairs. As for the film then I'll watch it eventually on a streaming service, but I just prefer my female leads to be more than just propaganda for a cause and to be well-written and charismatic, like Black Widow in Avengers for example. Btw, I disagree with blind review bombing in general too, but I think that it has been inflated to excuse what initially caused the backlash and avoid accountability.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 262

MistressTonberry

Just picked up World of Final Fantasy and its Maxima dlc in the FF sale, so might give that a go tomorrow as it's been on my personal list of shame for a while now! Been playing my old Trials Fusion game again today and its weird dlc (seriously, where's the unicorn emoji on my Fire, Amazon?! Not even a motorcycle one! 😉). It's difficult, but gonna wait a few months to play DMC5 I think.

Re: PlayStation Goes Hard on Captain Marvel Advertising

MistressTonberry

Will be giving this a swerve for sure and watching Alita; will probably check CM out if it comes to Netflix though. Even many outlets who you wouldn't expect to give comparatively lower scores have had to do so, mostly it seems because of the quality of the film's plot, retconning going too far, and "strong woman" being her main character personality trait, and I've seen genuine video reviews on YT too from both serious Marvel fans and general fans of superhero movies, neither of whom care what the actress said, so if this doesn't do as well as expected then I don't think review bombing can be blamed like many are claiming. Besides, it's not really appropriate for an actor promoting a movie to use her platform to not only selfishly indulge her patronising white saviour complex, but also insult a large part of her fanbase at the same time on the basis of their race and gender. The vast majority of criticism has nothing to do with not accepting women leads in movies, as the success of many other movies (including recently) has shown. Apart from the movie's faults though, then I think what @Gamer83 said about people being sick of identity politics in their entertainment so much is a factor too; haha I know I am! Think it's a good move for Sony to go for more Playstation games ads in movie theatres though!

Re: Early Review Copies of Sekiro Won't Be Sent Out to Press or Content Creators

MistressTonberry

Unfortunate decision, but happy to wait for your review Also, after watching the EasyAllies discussion on a recent gameplay preview and the VaatiVidya one too over on YT yesterday then I've no doubt that this game will completely satisfy FromSoft fans (despite Activision publishing it) as it sounds like another Miyazaki masterpiece! When the complete edition is released then I think this will be the game that finally causes me to develop the patience to "git gud" (hate that phrase!) instead of giving up over and over, as I love Soulsborne lore videos and let's plays!

Re: Poll: Have You Bought Devil May Cry 5?

MistressTonberry

Played the demo last month and decided I was definitely absolutely getting it, but will probably wait till summer or autumn to buy as I've still got several big games from 2-4yrs ago in my backlog of shame as well as a load of indies and I wanna get those all done by the time PS5 comes out (presumably) next year. Looking forward to eventually playing it though!

Re: Hold On, Puyo Puyo Tetris Is Now Available Digitally on PS4

MistressTonberry

Noticed this on UK's PS store last night and it went straight near the top of my wishlist doc, as I'd played a friend's copy, loved it, and was searching for it on PSN not long ago before a google search told me it was only available physically because of weird Tetris laws (I prefer to have these kinds of games digitally, so very pleased).

Re: Talking Point: Would You Buy a Disc-Less PS4 Console?

MistressTonberry

A discless console wouldn't interest me. I live in a fast internet area and have a lot of digital games because the sales are so amazing these days, but when I want to buy a game on release day then a physical copy of a big release can be as little as £38 from some reputable online retailers in the UK, which is a big difference from digital day one prices! Also, I think lack of competition from retailers could lead to the base prices of big releases rising in coming years (in addition to existing mtx still steadily continuing to get worse I mean).
@Jumpingjack makes a good point about Sony's awful family account policy too, which would make taking away the option of a physical copy extremely unfair to consumers. The only way I can share digital games with my brother (and it's only him) is to set his console as my primary and if I didn't have good internet then even that would be a problem for me, as playing games on a secondary requires frequent automatic WiFi connection checks in the background I think.

Re: THQ Nordic Did Something Crazy, And It Didn't Involve an Acquisition

MistressTonberry

Definite oopsie, but sounds more like total incompetence than anything sinister, and THQ Nordic apologised soon after being alerted to it, so that should be the end of it, but the blue checkmarked (supposedly games) journalists of certain other sites will probably be dining out on this delicious outrage feast for weeks, which usually tends to just end up being more hate levelled at hatred, except one of those hates is ok (excuse poor grammar!); haha, that kind of vom-fest is why I don't have Twitter! As for the slurs, the alien pros*** thing sounds more bad taste than offensive, as it's not like they're talking about a being with realistic anatomy, and re the homophobic slur, then I googled it and it seems as though the employee was responding to the picture rather than the slur which was captioned it (it was about the picture, not the word presumably?) Obvs what they should've done was disavowed and said "this isn't appropriate language on our AMA", reported them to the mod, and refused to answer any more of their posts, but aside from reprimanding them for not doing that and them issuing a proper apology, then I don't think they deserve to be fired for it, unless they turn out to be a homophobia sympathiser themself I mean.

Re: Mystery Bethesda Game Suddenly Up for Pre-Order, Placeholder Trailer Looks Like Fallout

MistressTonberry

I would love a Fallout 3 (with DLC) remaster, but wouldn't buy on release at that price though, and I'd expect there to a lot of working bug fixes on a remaster compared to the PS3 version, as I remember that ran atrociously on there compared to the 360 version which we also owned (thankfully!) That said, if I had to choose then I would prefer a New Vegas remaster first. Knowing Bethesda, any remaster will release with the original bugs included gratis...my expectations for them are sadly much lower these days, which is why I don't want any full remakes as I think they'd mess that up.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 260

MistressTonberry

@Nyne11Tyme Persona 5 would be great if you have a Vita, as it lends itself well to remote play as well as big screen play, in case if you end up getting headaches sitting up for too long with your nose healing needs. Could personally recommend RDR2 and KH3 as well though. P5 and RDR2 are both huge time sinks (happy ones though!), so either are most ideally suited to a couple of weeks time off. I still need to go back and complete P5 as it's such a long one! ...feel better soon btw!

Re: Final Fantasy XV's Episode Ardyn Release Date Reminds Us Square Enix Is Still Working on This Game

MistressTonberry

I had a huge amount of fun with FFXV - far from the best Final Fantasy story, and felt deliberately incomplete without the DLC (which I've still not gotten around to buying, but will do eventually on deep sale for the sake of completion, along with this Episode Ardyn), but the gameplay - though very different from traditional FFs - was fun enough for me to still love the game, I absolutely loved Ignis, and I still get the Chocobo theme and Altissia waltz stuck in my head randomly on occasion! After this dlc though, I'd rather see them call it a day and concentrate fully on FFXVI, as I don't wanna have to wait so long this time for another decent single player FF! 😉

Re: Japanese Dead or Alive 6 Stream Axed After Things Got a Bit Too Sexually Suggestive

MistressTonberry

@Kienda Just watched a that bit too and was funny for me, but agree it's excessive for something meant to be family friendly. Re what you mentioned though then I don't think people do genuinely care or feel offended about this sort of thing, but just like a lonely gamer gets a kick out of digital perving, there are many who get an equally enjoyable kick out of moral grandstanding and feeling superior, so they pretend to care...but they don't really. It was anti-violence in videogames in the 90s and now the trend is just anti-sexualisation instead, and will likely be anti something else in another decade...maybe it will be anti-facial hair! 😄

Re: Poll: Do You Think Sony Is Telling the Truth About Cross-Play?

MistressTonberry

I don't think Sony has any obligation to allow cross-play at all, and this doesn't affect me personally, but I do think it would be a positive thing for Sony to implement it more widely, from both a consumer and developer perspective, as it would keep the player bases on older or less popular games alive for longer so better for those still enjoying them, as well as better for school age kids who may have been bought different consoles by their parents but still own the same multiplayer games as their friends as nobody likes to be left out at that age. I think that there should be an option for the user to be able to switch cross-play on or off though so people have a choice. Oh, and I definitely think Sony's making excuses as from a business perspective they'll obviously want people to be gaming on their platform.

Re: Ubisoft Will Release Three or Four Major Games Before March 2020

MistressTonberry

I'm expecting Watch Dogs 3 this autumn (seeing as a new AC iteration isn't releasing in that window this year), which I would be happy about so long as it has less annoying side characters this time; Man Bun really got on my nerves in the last one and I've yet to even return to complete it, but I did love the gameplay and the MC was fine. Splinter Cell would be great IF it is in the style of the old games and isn't completely remodelled around the live service formula (probably will be), but reckon this may be one of the four, along with a new Ghost Recon possibly. What I'd like most is a decent reboot of Prince of Persia, but would be incredibly surprised if we got that! Think BG&E2 will be PS5, and not expecting that to be anything like the original, so very sceptical about it being of interest to me anyway at the mo!

Re: Metro: Exodus - Technical Limitations Subdue an Otherwise Solid Shooter

MistressTonberry

@LiamCroft I think this is a well-written review which comes across perfectly fair to me; you definitely don't deserve for folk to be getting personal over it just because you have your own opinion. Reviews are by nature subjective, and so long as they're also fair then I don't see why people would have a problem with a review deviating from the average score, along with the fact that 6 is not a bad score anyway! Some clearly didn't read it properly! Besides, I always check out a couple of my trusted youtubers' video reviews also, before deciding for certain on a purchase (unless it's a dev that I really trust).

Re: Free Dragon Quest XI Avatars Out Now on PS4

MistressTonberry

@ShogunRok (sorry, forgot capitalisation before!) Thanks for heads up - love many of Dragon Quest XI's characters! Btw, just turned on my PS4 to check out these avatars after reading this and unrelated, but seems Bamco has today released something called God Eater 3 fan kit bundle too on themes page, which includes 5 musical themes and avatars for free (I don't even have the game yet). Nice surprise as I'm always changing my theme

Re: Assassin's Creed 3 Remastered March Release Date Announced

MistressTonberry

While AC3 wasn't one of my favourites and did have some really frustrating bits, I still had fun with it when it released, so will likely replay this along with AC: Liberation at some point in the future, as they're included in my season pass anyway...current gen versions of Black Flag and Rogue definitely much higher up my replaying list though! I guess I'm a little bit of an AC fangirl as I've played to completion almost every game for nearly a decade now I think about it! Agree AC3 will be hard to go back to though.

Re: Disney Happy with EA's Work on Star Wars

MistressTonberry

Wow! Disney's either got an incredibly low bar these days or someone at EA is holding one of Bob Iger's pets hostage to make him say that! 😉 Mind you, it's probably the former, as it's not like Disney seems to care much about Star Wars themselves, given what we've been treated to recently with the movie franchise!
